  1. Hello everyone we are booked on the Pride for next Year. We are flying into BWI the day before and I’m looking for a recommended hotel. Breakfastcand a shuttle would be helpful. We have used Uber as well if it made sense cost wise.

    I have been recommending a few hotels that have stay and Park pkg. But since we are flying in, this isn’t really what I’m looking for. Any hotels that offer a free shuttle if you stay the night before?

    In reading one post itbsaid $20/pp and the poster said to go with Uber. Anyone agree or? It will be 2 adults and 2 children.

    Thsnk you for any help.

  3. There's a difference between copyright and credit. When someone posts something publicly, the general assumption is it can be used for non-commercial means - i.e. posting it on here is fine, but not selling the snaps to a new organization.

    However, when you post something from someone elses work you should ALWAYS credit the original source.

    Example: Screencaps taken from a video posted on facebook by John Smith in the Friendly Carnival Cruisers group on May 3. Include a link to original post where possible. Otherwise the legal implication is you are claiming ownership of the work and that's problematic.

    Hence why I started the thread stating someone else posted it on FB 🤷*♂️ But again even if I didn’t I still wouldn’t feel obligated. No law saying you have too.

  4. There's one video posted to YouTube. It shows the hallway and the crew bailing water (from the screenshots), plus a little more. But it doesn't show any sparks flying.

    Yes you are correct I guess. But if this was binding every time someone handed someone there phone or camera on a ship to take a picture, the stranger would have copyrights to that photo. So make sure you find them and get permission to use them lol. I get it and if you want to get technical you got me lol. Bottom line is at least up here in MA the courts have spoken and I don’t feel I needed permission, nor will I worry about it.

  5. Here is the latest statement:

    On Thursday,May 3 at approximately 6 pm,there was a water line break on Carnival Dream that impacted guests inapproximately 50 staterooms on Deck 9. Our onboard teams began cleanupimmediately related to this clean water from a fire suppression system.

    Impactedguests will receive a full 100 percent refund of their cruise fare, a 50percent future cruise credit and the option to disembark the ship today if theychoose with air transportation to return home. We appreciate our guests’understanding and sincerely apologize. We also thank our crew members for theirquick action and hard work.

    CarnivalDream is on a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise that departed New Orleans onSunday, April 29. We don’t expect any impact on the next cruise.

    Outstanding response by Carnival. Thank you Mischelle

    It’s not on YouTube a guest posted it on her FB page. I clearly saw sparks and smoke coming from an outlet in the hall. I’m sure this video will surface on cruise critic soon. She stated she is having spotty internet just like the woman who posted the other video.

  7. Actually, just because someone posts something and sets it to public, does not mean you have the right to screenshot or share it. It does not matter if it is in a public group, the post is set to public or if it is all over the internet. There are still copyright laws. However, with that being said, I seriously doubt that the person that shared this video would have any issue, as they probably want this to go viral, and more than likely asked people to share the video for that very reason. I should know I work for a IP firm.

    I am a law enforcement officer in MA and we’ve had instances where this has come up. Without getting in too deep, I will say this has held up in MA Courts. “When you post content on your Facebook page, you have the ability to configure privacy options regarding who can view that content. According to Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, any image posted with public settings carries the implicit acknowledgment that said photo is available for access and use by anyone including people and entities not on Facebook.” We’ve had many instances in both criminal cases involving possible harassment and civil cases involving businesses. (Family court as well). The only exception was if the person using the photos was to do so to defame the person who originally posted the photo. Otherwise the court said if the intent of the photo was to share what the original poster wanted shared, then there is no tort.

    Facebook does try to help people or companies maintain their copyright and trademarked images but this doesn’t apply here since the poster did not trademark or copyright her pics/video. In contrast she stated I wanted to share this to “everyone” in case you have a trip on this ship coming up.

    Anyhow, the post was meant to be helpful to anyone sailing on the Dream soon. Hopefully it was. As for those who want to focus on the other stuff feel free, but I am not the least bit concerned.

  8. It is not stealing, they posted it on Facebook with the setting set to public so anyone could share and see it, taking photos or videos from those kinds of posts and reusing them does not violate any laws or Facebook policies.

    Exactly. This woman posted the pics and video to our public group. Always one in the crowd who has to stir the pot. Glad some of you have popcorn lol

  9. They will need to replace the carpets, so I wouldn’t worry about mold being an issue. Question though: did you ask for permission to repost this person’s pictures here?

    These photos were posted in a public group not a private one. In addition so was the video. No permission is needed. But thank you for the concern.

  10. Good Morning Everyone,

    We sincerely apologize to the guests in the approximately 50 staterooms on Deck 9 of the Carnival Dream who have been impacted by a water line break. Our crew is working hard to provide extra courtesies and accommodations for this inconvenience.

    Good morning Mischelle,

    Thank you for responding to the post. I do have a question however. A guest has a clear video of sparks flying into the hallway yet Carnival is denying that any sparks or smoke occurred. Why are they not being transparent on the matter? Thank you in advance for any response.

  11. Hi All someone on the social media site that is currently on the Dream posted photos and videos. Apparently a main water line broke. She also has video of sparks flying from water hitting electrical wires etc. Everyone is safe but apparently approx 60 Cabins had 6-9 inches of water in them. Also others reported water dripping down into their rooms from the ceiling. I’m hoping the carpets etc don’t get moldy as I am sailing on the Dream this Summer.

  12. Saint Greg thanks again for all your advice/info. I think I scored a phenomenal deal. For Aug 11 I had been eyeing Priceline and Hotwire and yesterday I found the Hilton Riverside for $68 with taxes it was just under $90 for a standard room 2 queens. I hopped on it right away and got my confirmation. More than happy.

  13. Do you have any other suggestions for Aug 11? And are you as familiar w Priceline as well?

    Your opinion on the New Orleans Marriott French Quarter-Canal St? I believe in Priceline I can get it fairly cheap.

  14. Hi Saint Greg, Quick question I am sailing on the Carnival Dream next Aug 12. I would like to book the Hilton Riverside or the Omni as after reading the Forums it looks as those are the best options for us. We are trying to stay close to the port and under $140 / night.

    My question is on the Hotwire site it tells me the Hilton Riverside is sold out for the 11th. But when I look under hot rates its offering the 4 star 90% recommended hotel in French Quarter-Mississippi River. Is this possible? I have never used hotwire and don't want to get stuck in a hotel that doesn't fit our needs.

    Any feedback is appreciated

  15. So to put it bluntly after all these comments me and my wife to be will be on a cruise!! As it's our honeymoon we will be going on a celebrity cruise in September and we will be taking our pride and joy, our little girl. Yes I have paid for her and if people don't like it tough!!!!!! My little princess will see the world diffenrtly and maybe next year we might take her somewhere different. But for this year if you don't like it come and chat to me!! Enjoy cruisers I will[emoji106]

    Good for you two. Enjoy your honeymoon and disregard the negativity by some. We had our 4 1/2yr and 8 month old with us this past Spring on the Freedom and enjoyed it so much that we booked the Liberty for this October where he will be 14 1/2 months. The nursery is great and on Freedom class ships they have a baby play area as well as a small infant pool area. We used the nursery for 2-3 hrs on about 5 of the 8 nights and camp for our daughter so that we had some alone time for whatever we wanted. Did we have to adapt our usual cruise activities yes. But did we all enjoy ourselves, ABSOLUTELY. Have a great trip. We all deserve a nice break.

  16. Hi All,

    Sailing on the Liberty out of Galveston in October. This will be our 2nd time out of this port. Last year on Carnival our alcohol beverage package did not begin until day 2 of the cruise due to a Texas law.

    Does anybody know if it's the same way with Royal? I would assume yes, but wanted to double check.

    I don't see how one company could do it while the other couldn't. Anyone have experience?

    Thank you

  17. I guess I'm in the minority but in the last 4 cruises of my 14 I have switched to using a travel agent. I have received from $75 to $150 Onboard Credit each time(one time I got a free specialty dining dinner for 2 with $100 onboard). I guess for some that's not a lot but for us I'd rather have $100+ in my pocket while also supporting some hard working agents.

  18. I'd love to go on one of the longer cruises but we have a baby at home. We are going to go on the four-day Bermuda cruise from New York on the horizon in September 2018. So excited!

    If the price goes down in line with the Pride we will probably try it eventually. We would love if they added Bermuda to a longer 7/8 night cruise or just a straight 7-day Bermuda cruise.

  19. We had a different experience. We sailed on the Magic during the NFL playoffs. They had the games on in the Red Frog Pub however they wouldn't play the sound and there was no seating it was packed. The activity coordinator told everyone the overflow was the Casino Bar. They used it as more of a sports bar and their were 5-10 kids between id say 10-16 watching the games at the tables or standing behind the bar stools. Nobody batted an eye to it.

  20. Whew, sorry about the delay. There's a lot going on here at my house and my kids just left.

    We usually cruise during Sakari's Spring Break since there was one year that we didn't do/go anywhere and it just about killed me knowing everyone I knew actually "got out of town". I said "never again" and I meant it. So, Spring Break is always a given time for us and for some reason, we always end up on Carnival for that cruise. This time would be no different. However, this year her Spring Break was a little late compared to others and all the previous years.

    I started searching cruises available and knew that I wanted something "new" again...new ship, new ports with the ports being the priority. For several years we went back and forth between the Western and Eastern (with the Western being the most traveled) and for the last several years, we have been trying to do "new" (to us) ports...such as Southern and Bermuda.

    At this point, I didn't care WHICH ship, as long as it went to any new ports. I came very close to doing a cruise before, that went to the ABC islands (something I have always wanted to do), and ended up booking something else that was new for us. I couldn't find an ABC cruise this time around, so...I settled for A & C and whatever else came with it.

    We decided on the Conquest: Grand Turk (already been there a few times now and enjoy it) and 3 NEW PORTS FOR US!!! La Romana, Dominican Republic, Aruba, and Curacao!!! I was super excited to experience these places. I knew nothing about the Conquest and had never been on that class ship, but knew that others seem to like it a lot. So...we booked.

    BOOKING INFORMATION:

    I recently discovered something I didn't know about for a few years now. This REALLY benefits us and I wish I would have learned about this earlier. But, better late (my late, not Kendra's type of late) than never.

    My husband owns his own business (a store that sells bikes, blades, scooters, skateboards, penny boards, wake boards and long boards....because even though you can't tell these days, he used to be a bladder and was really fit and it's his passion...so they always say work in something you are passionate about and you will succeed). We have a Southwest Business card that earns points. Ok, this is nothing new. HOWEVER....I recently found out (using a good old google search for something else I was trying to figure out using points) that SW has Carnival gift cards! SCORE!!!! I had no idea. In the past, I have been frantically and impatiently waiting for the Carnival gift cards to show up randomly on Verizon to purchase them at a discounted price and then other times I have went to my local grocery store to 1) purchase the cards using my credit card to earn cash back on the cc, then 2) earning free gas using the points from the purchase (I once had free gas for...I think it was 3 months and 2 days)...but NOW...whoa...we are taking it to an entirely different level now!

    So, I used some of our points to purchase the gift cards to pay for our cruise. THEN I purchased more gift cards to use as OBC on the ship. So what does this mean you might ask? IT MEANS FREE CRUISING!!!!!!!!!! Yes! I have found a way to cruise for free now!

    It doesn't get any better than that....or does it? Well you are about to find out!

    Next....Since we also earn so many points, we also fly for free. Every time we reach 110,000 points in a year (which we can do in a month) you get a "companion pass" and the companion will fly for free for the rest of that current year PLUS the following year until December, potentially getting almost 2 free years of flying. Sam is my companion (he claims these benefits comes to him with the ring on his finger) and Sakari and I book using all the points. Basically, we each pay $5.60/pp to fly (imposed 911 fee you HAVE to pay).

    Summing this up so far...

    1) Free cruise

    2) Free OBC for everything we do while on the ship

    3) Flying there and back for free.

    It can't possibly get any better right?

    Moving on...

    A little more research revealed that there were also certain hotels that you could either buy gift cards for or gift certificates. Well whatcha think 'bout that? I would also be able to purchase the certificates for my hotel stay=free again!

    Life doesn't get any better right?

    Well, yea that's about right for now. At least until I find other ways to beat the system. (I have also found gift cards and tickets for places like Sea World and Universal Studios and we have also been using points for those for mini vacations as well).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So I purchased mounds of Carnival gifts cards, booked the cruise and purchased more for the cruise.
    P4240005%20copy-L.jpg
    Oh yea, the other good thing about these cards and purchasing them using SW is that their office (that ships the cards) is located here in my state and once it's processed, I receive them within 2 days.
    Once my cruise was booked, I was off to research each port and find new ideas for our water-loving family to experience. That's usually where the fun begins. :D
    2nd review I've read if yours and enjoy your style. Thank you.
    Question, we fly southwest as well, although only about two round trips per year. Do you have to be a card holder to purchase the cards? I have gotten them at 10% off through Verizon in the past. But another option is always nice to have.
  21. Honestly I forget if it was scheduled for 8:30 or 9. I just remember leaving the port about 9:05. I think you have just as much of a chance of being delayed with the ships transfer as with the private shuttle. Less people to wait for with the shuttle. I don't want to make my guarantees but i honestly think you will be fine with a 1:00 pm flight. You can always pay a porter when going to retrieve your luggage as well. The porters have their own line for customs so you absolutely save time. We tipped him $15 for carrying our 4 bags(2 full size and 2 carry on) and saving us some time with customs. He seemed pleased with that.
