  1.  I have just returned from my cruise on Silhouette 3rd one this year

We were sitting enjoying a drink with another couple  of guests in the Ensemble Lounge when a group of four passing us to go into the Retreat Lounge one of them decided to

berate us saying you POOR people having to sit in this dreary lounge when we have a beautiful one here yes the emphasis was on the word poor I was so angry I wanted to follow him in but my husband held me back

it would have come to fisticuffs and we would probably have been put off at the next port , money talks even if it’s with bad manners

  2. You are scaring me, since I last went on the Radiance was 16 years ago, and we are doing it next summer.... The Brilliance is newer.... Yikes.

    JC

I'm confident they will get it organised again : Brilliance is my favourite ship have sailed on her so many times , first was 2002 Harwich- Boston , they held a 10th birthday party for her on our Norway cruise 2012 with a huge cake & champagne in the centrum great fun ( and tears)

She was still good last year on our crossing to Tampa . I do hope you have a great cruise on her next summer , it would be sad if Royal lets Brilliance standards slip

  3. I'm not Diamond yet (one more long voyage) but RCL does offer some nice perks. That said, we compared the basic Diamond privileges to the loyalty benefits of another cruise line and saw that being the higher status on RCL really wasn't that lucrative. We are maybe one drink a day people and I never saw Diamond and above drunks on any cruise.

Loyal RCL folks do enjoy their perks!

The perks with Royal are very good now , when we first became Diamond a good few years ago my hubby a non drinker got 20% discount on his coke at the nightly event & I got an almost undrinkable Chardonnay

On Jewel was disappointed when our card didn't work for the concierge lounge love the little outdoor area in that room , but really happy to discover on that cruise free coffee all day at cafe Latte-tudes so that with 3 free Lemon Drops every night one happy cruiser 😀😀

  4. Sadly we have. There were the "Sand Sitters" at Labadee who kept moving closer and closer to our clam shell while chain smoking even though the beach is not a designated smoking area........There was the, "Elevator Drunk" who leaned on me for 10 floors. There are always the "Stair Sitters", who manage to come late to every show and then sit on the stairs in everyone's way. There are the "Elevator Jumpers" who simply cannot wait for people to get off, before plowing in. Don't even get me started on the "Chair Hogs" LOL. I understand your frustration and I often share it but, I generally do not engage. No one is going to ruin my cruise. No matter how much of a butt they are.

Just thinking about Labadee when we visited last year , we had just come out from a swim & drying off when a couple asked would we look after their bags while they had lunch , no problem , now it was a large backpack each & 1 bag each , they came back almost 2 hours later &'apologised they said they met a couple of friends and had a few drinks together needless to say we were unable to take another swim & missed lunch it was cleared when we made our way up

But now what do I do if that ever occurs again say NO then I will be considered rude ?

  5. I was relaxing on a lounger with my book : Deck 5 on Brilliance when a steel tray roughly 4x4 just narrowly missed my arm it was a pet loo : a man with a tiny Yorkshire Terrier had just dropped it down now not a word was spoken. the dog finished his or her business and away they went leaving it all behind.

Naturallý I left but not a pretty sight for all the walkers and runners on the promenade deck

  6. Assuming your flight out of Orlando leaves late afternoon/early evening you will have lots of time - I would rent a car, put the bags in the trunk (boot to you), and go where you want/do what you want for the day.

Avis and Hertz have locations close to the TPA port (2-3 blocks); if you get a better deal renting from the airport a taxi to the TPA airport is only $25+tip.

If any of this helps you owe me a pint - bitter please!

    😢

Sorry no pint of bitter coming your way

We are a couple of 75 year olds who do not drive but thanks for your reply

  7. My TA here in the UK booked my transfer direct with Royal : I had already phoned Royal to ask about the transfer they told me they did that but I had to book it through my TA : My TA did this for me even giving my flight details & times to them from Orlando

Now my final payment for the cruise is Friday & Royal have just informed my TA the transfer was booked for Tampa Airport as they do not transfer to Orlando

My cruise is Brilliance arriving October 31st : what would be the earliest flight I could book there are no direct flights & they are very expensive ? Plus they take all day

Would it be possible to get a car service between the two? We do not drive

    Thanks

  8. Hello folks,

The new RC customer care team based in Guatemala I believe have been really appalling to work with! thus my question here. Can anyone please confirm precisely what RCL's price drop policy is as I've been given conflicting information by them and can find almost nothing in writing on their uk site. My question relates to both pricing changes and if you move to a lower price (I've been told you can do this only once) how that impact your booking extras (I got lousy ones, current ones better, can I get these with change, do I lose these entirely)?

The price has dropped around 13% and 18 cabins in my category for early July remain open.

    Thank you!

    Jennie

I have two cruises booked for April both had price drops but I was refused even trying on different days to ask

I was also refused an upgrade last week when the prices really dropped

But reading on the roll call for our cruise some folks now have their friends joining them because of the terrific price drops but they live in the US

    But that's life.;);)

  9. Well wouldn't you know it; I was going to buy two of these on my April cruise as I loved the idea of getting OBC. Since I will only be in a inside cabin $25 really doesn't buy me a lot of anything but I do like the $100 deposit. I was so excited and now my bubble has burst.

I was going to do the same :

Now I am wondering if it will be worth while for me, I am thinking about booking a 13 night cruise in October just a Q grade inside cabin : what would my OBC be?

Is the grade of cabin also taken in to account as well? I am a little confused

  10. I always get my certificate in UK pounds and book direct with Royal

Will be cruising in April and hoping to cruise again in November but thought I would like to try booking my November cruise with a US travel agent

Can I buy my certificate while on board in dollars even though my credit card is a UK card & that is the one I use to pay my on board account with

Will a US travel agent take a certificate if it is in UK pounds?

If I buy one in dollars is it then useless if I decide to still book with Royal UK?

    Thanks

  11. We had a price drop on our upcoming Norwegian Fjord cruise in early May. Phoned and told them- got £700+ taken off. As long as it's before final payment they should change it for you. Just be persistent- took me @ 25 minutes on the phone to get it sorted!!

It does not seem to be consistent

I made 4 phone calls over a period of 10 days each time was refused a price drop on my April cruise and it was before final payment

  12. I have a booking Adventure April 20th 2014 ,my final payment is 2 weeks away

I have seen a price drop of £50 per person on their web site

made 2 phone calls trying 2 different people but no joy either time

First one wanted to take off my $150 on board credit that was with my next cruise certificate I wouldn't agree, that was after being put on hold 3 times

The second call said it is not really their policy to reduce the price ,they do guarantee not to increase the price if there is a rise

Now I was happy with the price I paid for my cruise & am still happy to be cruising

But I do read on the forum about so many price drops but again it does not seem to apply to the UK market
