  1. I've done eight Lift and Shift.    It is very easy now since Royal has sent a list of cruises that qualify for the L&F from most cruises.    If you book with a TA, they should be able to make it easy for you.

Port Taxes and Fees are figured by the actual Port you are sailing from.     When you L&S, fees could be less or more.   You can verify the amount by logging into the Royal Website.

Just make sure that you follow the rules.   All bookings that qualify must have been booked before August 1, 2020!

  2. ty, it didn't end there, Dec 9 we had to euthanize our 16 yr old cat. Nobody else has died since then so I'm going on a cruise to recuperate!

Karen, hugs to you and hope the New Year brings you some great joy! Glad you're getting out there and cruising. It does make you feel just a little better!

  3. I thought there was one more spot to manually change. November has been a very bad month for me. First my mother dies the beginning of November then last Sunday we had to euthanize our beloved 14 yr old black Lab.

Karen, so sorry for your loss. I thank you so much for keeping this list going. Many hugs to you.

  4. Interesting that the OP was looking for feedback and when someone provides there own input that may seem negative to some and insightful to others you should disregard them because everything is unicorns and rainbows

You are so right. I love kids and see them on ships all the time. The safety for infants is my concern.

  5. Hi Everyone! We have a 2 month old boy and are thinking a cruise in summer 2018 might be a good option for us. From the looks of it Royal Caribbean seems to get good grades regarding sailingwith kids. I am still a bit nervous as he we still only be 7-8 months old. We would likely take advantage of the onboard babysitting options. We figured we could have a few nights out and maybe even leave him onboard at one port while my wife and I could enjoy a relaxing beach day. We have cruised on NCL 3 times and Princess once. We are dying to set sail again and have always wanted to try RC. Am I nuts? Would love your feedback, especially if you have sailed with kids around this age group. Thanks in advance!

I'm from Chevy Chase, MD originally! I read your post and have a couple of suggestions. First, ask your pediatrician if your child is okay to go on a cruise. Does the child have any difficulties at all with allergies, etc. Usually, kids that are infants need a different kind of medical doctor than is provided on a ship! Years ago, a family was put off a ship because the doctor was concerned that he couldn't help an infant. It was in the Cruise Line's discretion to do this since they were concerned for the child's safety.

I'm not trying to scare you, just suggesting that you weigh all of your options. Your kids are precious cargo and so it is good to come prepared with knowledge.:)

  6. Don't just think about a BBB complaint; file also with the FL Attorney General. Unless RCCL upper management is totally stupid (and I don't think they are), there is no way that they are unaware of this. Months ago I thought this was sloppy management and unacceptable. I now think it is outright FRAUD.

To RCCL: If you are reading this (and you should be), I'd be more than happy to hear your side of the story.

To traveler Tom: it is interesting to note that when I called RCCL to have my visa card reimbursed for water I didn't drink, the nice gentleman on the other end of the phone told me that he spent approximately 60% of his time refunding money for water charges after people left the ship. Certainly, RCCL knows about these charges and seems to do nothing about them.

  7. This is just an example taken directly from the Tampa Port Cruise Page. Self parking is less than Valet. Hope this helps.

  8. We will be using luggage valet in seward alaska. How many bages each? We will be flying Delta with 2 checked bags each. We get our first bag free with our Delta American Express card. 2nd bag is $35 each. Will Royal transfer the 2 extras?

They will transfer all of your bags but the extra costs that the airline charges will also be added to your bill. Make sure that they do it right, since the charges will be on your SeaPass Card!

  9. There is an article going around on FB and other social media from a very interesting source that the new tipping increase is not going to the crew, but rather to RCCL's bottom line.

Personally, that doesn't speak well of how the Cruise Line is looking at this increase in automatic tips. If I were crew, I would be extremely offended!

What this increase may actually do is force people to go to Guest Services and remove their tips in favor of tipping the crew in cash.

    What do you think?
