Alberta Quilter:
Wishing you and your mom a great trip. I look forward to your updates also. My husband and I were on the Maasdam last fall as she repositioned from Montreal to Fort Lauderdale. We really enjoyed the ship and the trip. Happy Sailing

Fun movie. Enjoy seeing it every time, even though I know what's going to happen.

Really, do you know why?
No, we never heard why. Just observed them being escorted off the ship as we looked over the rail from the upper deck. The man had his hands zip tied behind his back escorted by a deputy and the woman was walking ahead with a female sheriff deputy.

On our March 8 Eurodam sailing there were a couple folks escorted off the ship before the lines were let go.

Pretty sight as she heads out.

Thanks for the informative reports. Enjoyed following your trip.
Do you know if the dining room manager Imam? was on board with you? He is the guy that remembered everyone's name and cabin numbers as you entered the dining room. Very impressive memory skills.:)

"Dinner was bittersweet. Leslie and Pat will be at the Pinnacle tomorrow night so this was their last time at table 69. The evening entertainment was a bit unusual. The Maasdam Sweetheart Ball was held in the Showroom at Sea at 9:30 so late seating guests had their show at 6:30. Two of the Maasdam Cast, Andrew and Chelsea put together a vocal program called Encore, including opera and other music done in a serious manner, and supported by the dancers, Adagio, the Mix Guitarist, and of course the HALCats. I joined the early show in progress and left the 8PM show when it got to the point where I arrived at the early show. Ironically, the song that marked the transition was “Time to Say Goodbye”."
Have enjoyed your reports......Andrew and Chelsea are very talented performers. That song brought me to tears on our October sailing on the Maasdam.

Guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We enjoyed "Jenny and the Halcats on the Maasdam last October.:)

Thanks for your updates. Enjoy seeing your photos.

Layers.....a light rain coat might be helpful, too. Enjoy your trip. Norway is unbelievably beautiful.

Thank you! Fun to see where all the ships are.

Will be interested to hear all about your trip on the Maasdam. Have a great trip!

Thanks for posting pictures of the Maasdam. They bring back nice warm memories of our Montreal to Fort Lauderdale trip in October.

Thanks for the updates on the Maasdam. We were on the ship from Montreal in October to Fort Lauderdale so got to know some of the entertainers. Sorry to hear about the dancer's medical emergency. Hope she is okay. Assuming it is one of the two females?
We had a wonderful trip and met several people that planned to stay on longer.
We saw the captain at the Mariner lunch but didn't see him anywhere else we went.
The food was good, entertainment very good and we were very happy with the trip.

We were on the Maasdam on the Montreal to Fort Lauderdale trip, so we were on the aft deck as these photos were taken. So neat to see the photos of the ship we were on. Thank you so much for posting. I am having withdrawals right now missing that ship. Lori

I looked in my NCL Caribbean Cruises brochure to find these decks on the Southward from to bottom: Tropicana, Mayflower, Boat, Atlantic, Biscayne and Caribbean. Sailed on Southward in January of 1985 from Miami to Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, San Juan, Nassau and back to Miami. It was a neat ship. My brochure says 767 passengers max, 300 crew, cruise speed 16 knots, gross tonnage 16,609, overall length 536 feet. It was an enjoyable trip. Lori

We were on this cruise, also. All in all it was very enjoyable. We booked excursions from the ship: Biking at Hilo, Land & Sea at Kona, Helicopter at Kauii, and snorkeling at Maui. We had anytime dining which worked out well for us in the evenings. Jen was a hoot. She seemed to have a lot of energy all day long. Amazing. Loved her accent, too. Her outfits were fun.
