  1. All of the feedback so far has been fantastic.

My daughter is pretty advanced for her age and I am not afraid to leave her alone. She started pre-school in August when she just turned 2.5 and she had been fully potty trained for about a month. She has no problem with other kids and she likes the school setting which is what I am kinda imagining Aquanauts to be (arts and crafts, games type of thing).

The idea of being stressed out while on vacation thinking that not everyone (myself included) is having a good time has quite honestly caused me to have such fear in going back to cruising. But, it definitely sounds like a lot of your experiences have been good.

Yes, Aquanauts will mirror her preschool experience pretty closely. (If it was anything like our daughter's experience) Crafts and games and group fun! Onboard, our daughter made a handprint calendar and it's still hangs in our kitchen. The staff are so attentive and I had no qualms about leaving our daughter in their hands. You can leave them aboard and do excursions, but I could never ever (ever) do that. Besides, half the fun is seeing all this great stuff through your children's eyes!

Try not to overthink it too much. You guys will have an amazing cruise together and get to create a lot of unique memories.

  2. We've only cruised with a grandchild just under 3 and loved the Royal Tots Nursery...Are there drop off hours in the evening for the kids club those just over 3 similar to RTN ?...We sailed on the Radiance twice and will be sailing on Harmony.

Yes! There are evening hours. We kept her bedtime not too long after it would have been at home, but she went to the kids club after dinner and they had an adorable pirate parade through the ship one night. I can't say enough wonderful things about the kids club and the staff. My daughter is 7 now (where did the time go?!) and we're headed onto Grandeur for 10 nights at the end of the month and she's very excited!

  3. We took our then 3yo on a nine night cruise for her first. It was wonderful and she had an amazing time! She loved the kids club. Everyone had a little time to themselves and it was fantastic. A great stress-free vacation. A lot of the staff went above and beyond for our little princess...it was wonderful. I can't say enough good things.

I can speak about the class of ship you are looking at as we sailed on Enchantment with her.

  4. BBC for me! Give me something that tastes like a milkshake and I'll drink it all day long!

Has anyone tried the cucumber martini? I read an article about Allure and it was mentioned. I wonder if you can get it on any Royal ship...

    Cheers!

  5. On the grandeur of the sea's the kids club was one group for 6-12 year olds.

This makes me slightly nervous as there is a big difference between 6 year olds and 12 year olds. We are sailing with my daughter who is turning seven. We'll be aboard Grandeur on March 30 and I'm not sure I want her hanging out with the "big kids". Just my opinion...

  6. My SIL was vacationing in Myrtle Beach and wore her five-figure diamond ring and placed it in her beach bag before going swimming. It was gone when she returned. :( I think as long as you're smart about the situation (and if you chose not to wear it leave it in the safe!), you'll be okay to wear your ring...provided we couldn't substitute it for the ice skating rink on board! ;)

    Safe travels, Sam

  7. Traveled many times with people without a passport. Just make sure the Birth Certificate says birth certificate, and that it has a state seal on it (not all seals are raised). If it says anything other than birth certificate, than check to make sure it is ok.

Exactly this! There is a difference between a birth certificate and a certificate of birth. My mother in law had the darndest time getting her passport because of this.

For us, having a passport is just easier and, in our opinion, the safer option. Heaven forbid something happens and you have to fly home or are taken to the closest country in an emergency! Our daughter got one at age 3 for her first cruise.

    Safe travels, Sam :)

  8. I'm actually on the Reflection leaving this Saturday and have arranged for a driver to take us all over the island and wait for us while we shop, use the beach etc. Once I return, I will post my review of this driver if the trip is a success.

I'd love to hear how this worked out! We will be in St Maarten in March and the excursion we would like is not offered on our sailing. Also, who did you use and how much does a private car cost?

    Thanks!

    Sam :)
