Thanks for the feedback. A 10 or 15 minute walk is nothing for us, so it sounds like there are plenty of options. I had also noticed that there is a covered parking garage nearby as well, do you have any experience with that one? Even though we'll be sailing in July, the idea of a covered garage is appealing to us.

The garage parking across the street from the terminal used to be available for cruise parking years ago but it's no longer.

Excellent, thank you so much for following up.  I was reading a different thread (and I initially posted on that thread before seeing this one).  Can you tell me if this is the C1 lot you are referring to:

    Flynn Marine Park Garage

    12 Drydock Ave

    Thank you!

The C1 lot is located at 5 Terminal Street Boston, MA 02210

Thanks very much for the update. We're going to be sailing from Boston for the first time next summer, and this seems to be the best option for us as well. Q: how big is this lot and assuming we are early arrivers (say 9AM), will we possibly have any issues finding a spot?

This appears to be the site:

    https://www.parkwithabm.com/c1-parking-lot?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=5terminalstreet&utm_campaign=google

Interestingly, the link on that page says: Cruise ship parking must be purchased online

I don't think anyone will have an issue with the lot being full since it's impossible to book online even though there's a link.  Most people just book the massport parking on fargo st. because you can prepay for that lot online.  It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the terminal.  They offer a shuttle but expect a delay when trying to get back to your vehicle on departure due to long lines.  The C1 lot is a good size lot.  It was only about 1/4 full.  You can view the lot on google maps.

  4. I'm going to answer this for other cruisers.  C1 is available as of 10/8/23.  You can't book it online.  The sign out front reads "Cruise parking $25 per day".  There is an attendant and you pay right there.  Credit card only.  There were plenty of spots.  This is the cheapest and ideal parking for sailing out of Boston.  You don't have to deal with shuttle service to the fargo lot like I did.

  5. I'm also sailing in October out of Boston.  I'm using the parking associated with the cruise port.   If you go on parking.com you can find your sailing and make a reservation.  They have a special cruise rate  The parking is on 93 Fargo St. I plan on dropping my family and luggage off at the terminal then parking the car.  They offer a free shuttle from the lot to the terminal.  Otherwise, It's a 10 minute walk.  I used to park at the C1 parking lot that is located adjacent to the terminal but that doesn't look like it's cruise parking anymore.

  6. Does anyone know if the C1 parking lot right next to the terminal is still open?  It's not showing up anywhere online to make a reservation.  Looks like at one point it was available on parkwhiz.  Not anymore.  Is it closed?  Last time I used it was in 2019 and you just paid with your credit card to the attendant when you parked.  Hoping somebody with a recent cruise out of Boston might have some info.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A

    Was wind a problem? N/A

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? My parents had this cabin. It's a unique cabin. They liked the view from the front of the ship as it faces forward, so you would basically have the same view as the bridge. It was a far walk to the elevators as you are as far forward as you can go. Front window area slants forward and has drapes that can be pulled shut. There are two chairs and a table that are put right in front of the window area nook, but my parents pushed them into the window nook area to have even more room and used the space as a sitting area. The view is unobstructed looking forward, but you do see the heliopad and if you look down can see the crew hot tub and crew bar. My parents never heard any noise from the crew area. They layout of the room is the same as a normal cabin along the sides of the ship, except turned 90 degrees. The bed is near the bathroom. I found the room to be surprisingly big.

    Deck - 10

    Cabin # - 1150

    Class – C3

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Yes, very quiet. Cabins above and below. Interior Cabins across the hall.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – View unobstructed. Looking forward can see bump out. Clear view looking towards aft.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal.

    Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? This was a great cabin in a good location. Close enough to mid bank of elevators/stairs which made it very convenient to move about the ship. Interior cabins were directly across the hallway, no steward storage areas in the vicinity so we never heard them getting their carts out in the morning. We found drawer storage to be minimal and the storage above the bed was inconvenient as I had to stand on the bed to get things out it. We didn't like the sliding closet doors as we found them hard to slide open & awkward and then felt the couch was in the way to get the back side of the closet open and get clothes out. We found the leather couch to be uncomforable for sitting on to watch television.

  9. We were in St. Martin three or four years ago with some friends of ours. We went into one of the jewlery stores right in that pier area. Not sure of which store, but it was one of those listed in the cruise ships flyers. My husbands friend was looking for a high end watch, can't recall the name. He knew his price as he had checked back in the States before he left. Prices were the same if not higher he said.

Funny thing was that while he was looking at the watches, us girls were just casually looking through the cases at some of the jewelry when one of the salesmen approached us and commented on my diamond/sapphire ring that my husband had purchased for me from a reputable jeweler back home for our 5th anniversary. I always get comments from people on the ring as it is a very pretty sapphire blue. But, what got me was he asked to see my hand and the ring on my finger and then proceeded to say to me, what a lovely tanzanite ring!!! I politely corrected him and said it was a sapphire. He appeared shocked. What I was thinking was "Buddy, Your a jeweler?? If you can't tell the difference between a sapphire and tanzanite, do you really think i would ever buy jewelry from you???"

We all were laughing about it on the way back to the ship. Like everyone says, educate yourself before you go so you know your prices and what you are looking for. You don't want to be taken, especially on such an expensive purchase.

  10. but only because you are on a cruise?

    i do. :(

for you, what causes this cruise-related constipation?

what do you do to prevent or treat it? :)

Unfortunately I suffer, my husband does not. I think for me it's the richer foods on a cruise that I'm not used to eating normally. I even make sure I get my fiber from whole grains and vegetables, but sometimes it still doesn't matter and I have a problem. I do notice cruises tend to be skimpy on the veggies at dinner, and give lots of the meat and starch (potatoes, etc.). So make sure you get your doses of veggies. But now I also pack Senokot and take it at the first sign of irregularity. I take the mildest dose of it and it works great for me, usually within 8 to 12 hours after taking. I'd give it a try as there is no need to suffer on your vacation, considering the great discomfort it can cause. Here's the link to their website. It's sold at any drug store, etc. Hope it works for you if you give it a try!!http://senokot.com/html/product_guide/senokot_laxatives.asp

  11. The French Onion Soup on the Celebrity Constellation cruise we sailed on last October. It was absolutely awful. We've had better french onion soup at Applebee's!!! Our entire table was a table of french onion soup lovers and we all hated it. It did not taste the way french onion soup should taste at all. We told our matre'd to tell the chef. He was quite shocked that we were all disappointed as it was on their Chef's recommended menu for the evening!!!! We told him to ax that recipe!!!
