  1. Sorry for posting to an older thread, but, my question is mainly about the Salisbury. Would I need a power adapter for my US laptop? TIA.

Just an FYI - in the hotel pull out drawer, there was an adapter. Now I have a bunch of extras that I didn't have to buy

And by the way, the Salisbury was WONDERFUL!

  2. I tried to use the HDMI port on the TV on Freedom a couple weeks ago. No Go.... The ability to switch input ports on the TV is disabled on both the remote and the button on the side of the TV. When I asked about it, the told me that the function was disabled due to repeated maintenance calls saying the TV did not work when the TV was set to an empty input port.

I did not bring a Universal Remote, so I can not speak to that. But, we are going on the Liberty this coming Monday and I will bring a Universal Remote and try it out.

    Did this work for you?

  3. Yes: route K2, stop 4 for the Kowloon Hotel and the Peninsula (which are basically next door to each other, just as the Peninsula is next door to the Y).

It's as the Y's website says:-

Thank you for your reply. I booked thru a 3rd party with a substantial discount from what they show on their website (in conjunction with my airline reservation), so I didn't actually go to the "Y" website per say, and missed that information.

  4. Thank you so very much for your quick reply :)

EDIT: I don't see Kowloon Station on the listing? Where would I get off for the Y hotel?

SECOND EDIT: ok, it appears K2, correct?

  5. I have another question, on the hotel website (Salisbury) it indicates this:

    Transportation

•Free shuttle from Airport Express stops across the street

Is that from the airport? or?

  6. If AcaCandy checks their power supply as Philob recommends, they can be sure whether or not they need to. I'd be astonished if they do in order to power a modern computer.

The advantage of being sure is that a simple adapter that doesn't include a transformer is a very compact and lightweight device.

I am *sure* that I do not need the 220 to 110 conversion adapter.

The other, I have a whole set of adapters, and they are never where I need them. Really hate to buy another set (or the one that was posted) if I don't need it. I have too much crap that I don't use already :eek:

  7. There were 2 on this one...a Samsung model. However, they were disabled as well. And the feed they were using for the tv was the Vga input. Once the IT person unlocked it with his remote it was easy to switch channels and still view the celebrity channels like account info, etc. Vga also would not work with laptops. Didn't try it again after unlocked.

  8. Thanks so much for taking the time to post pictures. I'm thinking of taking my WD Live, so it looks like if I do, that should work out great! Lots of sea days!

Just wanted to follow up on my experience onboard the Equinox.

TV was locked. Didn't matter which HDMI port you tried to use, or USB port, etc.

I inquired at Guest Relations and was advised that they were locked so guests would use the pay per view instead of being able to watch their own photos, movies, etc. I expressed my displeasure regarding not being able to view my own photos as ludicrous.

A couple of days later, the remote batteries died on the remote control in the room, and they had to send the IT person. I asked him about the ability to use the HDMI port, and he asked if I wanted it unlocked. I was surprised, and said, that would be great as we like to view our photos while we are in the cabin and delete the "oops" photos, etc.

He came back with a master remote, and unlocked the TV and we were able to view our photos from our laptop.

  9. I am going to cheat here and show a picture from my 2010 cruise.

My iPad was hooked up/inserted into the HDMI port on the side of the TV not the back panel of the TV there is normally nothing plugged into this side port.To answer your question Yes! this is the accessible HDMI port. On the back you can see the DVI cable that Celebrity uses. On top of this DVI port are the other HDMI ports they are blocked in the picture by the HDMI Cables dangling.

The next picture is the back of Silhouette's Samsung TV that I took last year. Quite a bit different hookup from Equinox's setup. This one is much easier to hook your HDMI devices to.

I don't mind answering questions on "hooking" thing up on your stateroom TV. Much confusion on this subject but, Yes! it can be done.

Check out my "jailbroken" Apple TV hooked up last year. That little unit to the left of the Apple TV with the Apple sticker on it is a Seagate Wireless Plus. That little Seagate baby has a 1TB hard drive and creates it own wireless network that the Apple TV could connect to and you could watch anything that was downloaded to the Seagate Wireless plus. I did say I am bit of a techie and you know men have to have their electronic toys?

  10. Just a quick question on the beverage packages, how do you guys come out with the math as opposing just paying as you go, taking into consideration the specials with buckets of beers, happy hours, etc.? I was thinking I'd have to drink 8 to 10 drinks per day and on port days that would be impossible....and questionable on non-port days. Just want to figure out if I'm missing something on these drink packages. :o:o

  11. Stateroom TV and HDMI

I have a reply to "hooking things up to TV's" here is a link to those instructions.

Equinox is different from Silhouette. Equinox uses a DVI cable to hook their TV channels up while Silhouette uses a HDMI.

As you can tell from the picture below I was able to hook my iPad up to the TV. The HDMi cable from iPad's 30 pin adapter is hooking into the Side of the TV not the back, which is different to the Silhouette. I actually only used it this one during the cruise. We watched our 2010 Equinox slideshow while getting ready for first formal night. Or in our first Formal/Casual night.

Was there still an HDMI port on the TV that is accessible?
