Thanks Merion Mom...looking forward to cruising with a bunch of really nice people!

Have any very recent cruisers (since August) brought wine or champagne on board? I know you can't carry on, but in your lugguge? Any problems? Have done this in the past, but now am told it is not permitted.

Also, can wine be bought in the shop onboard, and brought back to stateroom if the duty (or some fee) is paid at purchase? Have been told this is the case on some cruiselines?

I am with you guys...I usually take the patch with me..but the side effects are sometimes bothersome...but afraid the ginger won't work...maybe I will bring both!

While sailing on the QM2 last April, after dinner, candied ginger was always brought to the table with coffee and dessert. I must say I felt fine throughout the cruise-and it was a 6 day transatlantic voyage.

If you like books that are a little off the wall .....Running With Scissors and The Dogs of Babel are both good....Running is really bizaar but very hard to put down (the movie comes out next month) and the Dogs is a quirky relationship/mystery type story...loved it!

The Lovely Bones was really good as well. I also like just about anything Susan Isaacs writes. Happy sailing!
