I remember the Splendor having some technical issues recently, is she back in "ship shape" running normally or still having problems?

 

Just got off the Splendor yesterday from a 6 day cruise. All mechanicals functioned properly.

 

This is an older ship and does occasionally show some wear. Experienced Carnival cruisers said 'no comparison' to the newer ships. We have done 25 cruises but this was our first on Carnival and the first Caribbean in the summer.The ship seemed crowded. A waiter said he thought they added 400-500 more passengers for the summer. Don't know if this is true or not but it certainly felt like it, particularly in the buffet and at disembarkation.

 

 

The crew was nice and treated our 8 and 5 year old granddaughters very well. All Dr Suss stuff was great.

 

The filet I had in the Steakhouse was one of the best I have ever had. Most of the other food, particularly the buffet, was just OK - not bad but not good either. A recent grad said it reminded her of the college cafeteria.

We are also doing a 6 day cruise on the Splendor in July with granddaughters, ages 5 & 8.

How did your son enjoy it? Any suggestions?

Is Jack's accessible by golf cart? (wife is mobility challenged and sand is not good for a walker).

Just saw this when mock booking a cruise today, it's much lower than Early Saver so it peak my interest. What's the downside here folks.

We are new to Carnival. At what point in booking/where did you find the Casino Rate? How far in advance do you have to book?

We normally cruise in the winter but want to take our grandkids on a cruise this summer. Are there more kids in the summer (I hope)? Any experience on the kid's programs, particularly vs Carnival?

Rarely see it in the patter so we always look for a manager type and ask. They usually have to go in the kitchen and check.

I also am on April 23rd cruise on the Splendor....when I go into Check in online....on the left hand side...it says "pick a check in time"....no problem

We are on the Splendor in July. What was the earliest check in time offered? I am trying to coordinate with flight schedules (small children do not wait well!).

We will end our cruise in Venice in October. We dock at 1:00 PM and 'overnight' in Venice. Anyone have any tour guide suggestions or thoughts of places we need to see?
