  1. We got off the 3rd sailing of the Vista and can confirm we had the problems mentioned above. We had no idea when it was until announced, and as suspected, they set it for the 2nd or 3rd LAST day, which was a port day, at 5:00 pm! Absolutely pointless! So glad we had planned our own M&G on sailing say. I think I heard of over 100 signed up and only 3 or 4 attended. Again, it was a port day in Europe! Apparently it was posted in the FunTimes for that day, but I never seen it.

Epic fail Cruise Critic / Carnival.

Unless this changes drastically, we will not be participating in one of these ever again.

  2. Thanx for the reply Kenyatta!

In this amount of time I have already gotten my approval for a $60 discount on the BALANCE OWING of our Glory cruise this fall :D So my question has been answered :D

In reply to your comment about being paid in full...

We have gotten discounts via the form on several cruises in the past. This is now another one. Yes, if you are paid in full, the price difference will then become shipboard credit. The number of times you submit the form is also unlimited. I wasn't sure if the form changed or not, hence why I posted. Maybe it did change because I don't recall seeing the "Upgrade" option there before. Anyway, Carnival answered my question by reducing my rate.

Again, sorry for the mild hijack peeps, please proceed as if you were normal :D

I thought you only had to submit the form if you are already paid in full, but I can definitely be wrong. Otherwise, you can call.
  3. Ok, the "Rock n' Roll" component of this post makes some sense. Didn't John ask / mention on facecloth the other week something about "Rock" music in some respect. Can't remember now.

The BB King House of Blues tie in with sister-line Holland America has been getting rave reviews, perhaps a tie in with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or some sort of name brand cover acts?

I remain hopeful of what the actual announcement will be. Entertainment has become a very weak spot on CCL and they finally seem to recognize they are "making the pizza too cheap" and taking corrective measures.

  5. Our wedding went off without a hitch. We loved it!

The best advise I can offer is be prepared, and plan your timing carefully. Once you arrive at the port, check in, and get on the ship, it gets pretty crazy pretty fast. (I'm assuming you are geting married on the ship on the first day?) In addition, if you have any family members / friends attending / participating that have a history of being late or unprepared, start drilling (politely) these people now to be prompt, prepared, and on time!

  6. We got married on Dream last November. I had kept every email from Carnival Weddings but must have recently deleted them all cleaning up my email.

1st, that comment you quoted from Carnival applies to REGULAR boarding guests, not the bride and groom. IIRC we were allowed 1 small suitcase for essentials related to our wedding. We put in wedding favors, our shoes, and the clothing I was wearing. Our wedding was more resort casual. I wore khakis and an untucked, straight cut, white button up shirt. You are also allowed a garment bag. ie, your drress, his tux if that's what you're having.

2nd, the comment says "Encouraged". Whatever luggage you are checking, the same as all other passengers, bring what you want and don't worry too much about size.

I can help if you have any more wedding questions, but you sould direct your questions to the planner Carnival has assigned you. Asking questions here related to weddings may get you an answer as all other guests have experienced as regular cruisers. You will be the FIRST people on the ship that, even before Platinum guests.

    Congrats, and good luck!

  7. I briefly looked at the information for the Carnival MasterCard and it's not great at all. We live in Canada so we can't get it anyway.

We started cruising in 2006 and to date, 5 of our 8 cruises have been FREE with the exception of us paying the taxes and fees for them. All deck 8 or above Balcony rooms. Yeah Air Miles (MasterCard).

  8. We got off in Port Canaveral a few weeks ago and flew out. We enjoyed dragging our butts a little on debarkation day and not getting up so early. I know where you are flying and you will have a long day(s) ahead of you. I think your plan is doable, but it's going to be an early morning for you. Inform guest services a day or two before you get off and I'm fairly confident Carnival will get you there in time. Best way to get to the airport is just jump on the Carnival transfer bus. It's $35 pp

  9. While I always enjoy a few fruity umbrella drinks I am usually a beer drinker. On our recent B2B I became a fan if the hurricane wave for sure. Then one night I was sitting in the ocean plaza I was looking at the drink menu and ordered a tiramisu martini. As the bartender was sliding it across the bar, the guy sitting next to me said, "you won't be able to drink more than one of those an it will knock you on your a$$!" I took my first sip and replied, "Watch me!" I think I had three that night and about 10 before the end of the week. They are so good that I hope my wife gives me a martini shaker for Christmas so I can make my own!!!
