  1. Hi --

I would be interested in this cruise but cannot seem to find any information regarding it. Can you please supply me with details? We can communicate privately if you wish.

I was on the last cruise to Bermuda but we got caught up in Hurricane Sandy; therefore, it is still on my "Bucket List".

Thanks for any help you can give me. SilverBird

Sorry...looks like someone was thread diving. I started this thread in 2011. I will say the sideways cabins are great though.

  2. I love and use ZylastXP, a water based hand sanitizer that can last up to 6 hours. Although I use soap and water as much as possible (I am a nurse), I use this outside of work and have found it really has cut down on the amount of times I have had illnesses the past two years.

  3. Hi Punki.

I was seated with the Captain's Circle person at one of the luncheons and she told me that the lowest numbers are generally on Alaska cruises. The cruises that tend to be destination cruises for first time cruisers (Alaska, Canal, etc.) tend to have lower numbers. She said that on some Alaska cruises there may be just a handful of Elites.

I have been told the same thing as well. On the Grand Alaska sailing we returned from last month, there was only 57 Elites on board. I was about middle of the pack for MTP at 178 days on the invite list.

Some decade when I retire (I am a Gen X'er, I have a long way to go!), I just hope to make it into the top three once...maybe on some future Alaska cruise.

  4. Wow...amazing that you took the time to do this and share it. We are booked in a WS guarantee at the end of April, but we have not gotten a cabin assignment yet. I think we will be very happy as these WS suites are just as nice as the VS or PS suites we have been in, just no balcony. We figure we'll just book the Sanctuary instead. Thank you very much!

  5. Thanks for starting this thread, Susan. I am so sorry for those who had their cruise cut short and who missed their cruise due to the CBs propulsion issues. Our fingers are crossed that all goes very well for this cruise. We will be on her for B2Bs starting April 22 in 23 days and I am confident all will be 100% by then. Love the pictures. I am sure you will have a great cruise. Enjoy your pre-cruise time in San Juan as well.

  6. Thanks everyone for the responses. Looks like we'll be keeping the two sideways cabins then. Glad to read they're a little more spacious. I will miss looking out at the ocean at wake-up as I've always had a balcony on every cruise, but it's only 4 days after all. DH and I do like to hang out in our cabin but with the kids coming with us, I doubt we'll be in them much except shower and sleep.

    Thanks again. :)

  7. DH and I booked the 4 day Bermuda on the CB for next Oct. Originally we were in one of the coveted last AD minis. But since it's late Oct and we're sailing in and out of NY, I don't think we'd be utilizing the balcony much. So we opted to change our booking to an inside cabin instead. This will be both our first experience in an inside cabin. Since we're saving $$$ by not having the mini-suite, we decided to book my two kids on the cruise with us in a separate inside cabin. This will be first cruise for both of my boys.

We wound up being assigned R403 and R407, both inside sideways cabins. I have been directly across the hall from R407, which is a PH (R405) on the Crown and it was rather noisy in the morning especially. It wasn't a deal breaker but since DH and I were on our wedding cruise/honeymoon, noise at 5 - 6 am wasn't ideal!

I have read some older threads on this topic. But I still wanted to ask a couple questions. Anyone who been in one of these cabins on the CB, Crown, Emerald, or Ruby: How is the noise in either of these cabins? They look like they're under the Neptune Pool/Hot Tub area. And I know they're set up differently than a regular inside cabin, but are they actually slightly larger?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Just off the CB last month and each washer and dryer was $1. We bring our own quarters in case the machine is out so we don't have to go searching for working change machine. We also bring a couple of the Purex 3-in-1 sheets a few other posters mentioned. I like that it's not a liquid or powder and won't spill in our luggage. Plus the 3-in-1 sheets are a detergent, softener, and anti-static sheet. It also makes everything in the luggage smell nice as well.

  9. I like the cigar lounges and obviously cigars as well. Yes, some of us females do like a good cigar here and there. I have been in the cigar lounges on both the Caribbean (Churchill Lounge) and the Crown (Speakeasy Cigar Lounge) and enjoyed them. However I have not been on the Island's. (Didn't smoke cigars back then.)

I agree that is seems the cigar smokers seem to come out in the evenings more so than the daytime. I preferred the Crown's because it was smaller and the cigarette smokers tended to not hang out. (I'm not a cigarette smoker). Not that I mind sharing the space with the regular smokers. Both bad their pluses. I was actually shocked when we were on the CB last month and the doors to the Speakeasy were open (both front and back doors) and you could smell the cigar smoke all the way down the hallway long before you could see the lounge itself. I felt bad for the pax in the Window Suites because as soon as they walked out of their private hallway, they walked right into cigar smell, which tends to bother some people. On the Crown they left the door closed all the time, which makes me feel bad for the crew members working there though.

We only went to the cigar lounges 2 or 3 times on our last 2 cruises each, but we enjoyed them. Never had a problem buying a cigar, staff was always right on top of waiting on us. I bring my own cigars but my DH buys them on the ship. They have a decent selection but I honestly don't remember anything but Punch, Montocristo, and Macanudo. That suits me just fine if I were to splurge and buy one.

  10. I have been in E731 on both the Crown and the CB. DH and I loved this cabin. No noise from Club Fusion at all. Very low foot traffic. The covered extended balcony was great. We are booked in this cabin again on the CB for next October to Bermuda. I have to say it's one of my favorite cabins.
