Alaska Dream Southeast Explorer leaving in June and going from Sitka to Ketchikan.

Hopefully, to the top. Great resource.

I also enjoyed your review. We don't enjoy the large ships but you have demonstrated how to make them work for us.
We were last in Alaska in 1994 on the Yorktown Clipper. We added on a train trip to Denali and Fairbanks which we did on our own.
We will be doing a small boat cruise in 2014. While they are expensive, you don't have many extras. I've started my research by reading your review and OCD Planner's review.
Thanks for refreshing my memory.

I have enjoyed your trip report thoroughly from start to finish. I love planning. We will be making a return trip to Alaska in 2014 and are planning a small boat cruise. With many excursions included in the price, it isn't a lot more expensive than a large ship cruise and suits us much better.
Your photos are wonderful and the port detail so helpful. I am almost as disappointed as you are that this trip has come to an end. I can hardly wait to follow along on your European plans and trip.

I sailed on the Kong Harald on Deck 3 in an "N" level cabin with a larger window. I think you will be fine with your portholes. You won't be spending a lot of time in your cabin. I am sure you will prefer the Panorama lounge. On a December sailing, the ship probably won't be as crowded as it was in May and you should have no problem finding seating in the lounge.
Enjoy your voyage.

When you sign up for your dinner seating, explain to the Head Waitress what your food restrictions are. You will be accomodated with more than just a plate of pasta. They are used to dealing with all kinds of dietary restrictions. If the chef has any questions, he will speak with you personally.

I don't want to take anything away from Un-cruise but Alaska Dream Cruises offers a similar up close and active experience. If Un-cruise isn't available, check them out. I recommend them highly.
