  1. We disembarked Adventure today. We had originally planned to uber, but realizing the logistics of uber with a large party, we ended booking private transfers with Dial7. I didn't want to chance it with not knowing if my party of 5 and all our luggage would fit in 1 Uber XL. Also, I'd heard uber had been on surge pricing during embark/disembark at Cape Liberty for previous sailings, so not sure if the cost savings would have been worth the hassle.

We were pleased with Dial7. They were early picking up for embark, a few minutes late at disembark. But extremely clean vehicles and kind drivers. And still cheaper than RCCL transfers.

  2. I'm cruising on Adventure out of Cape Liberty this Friday. We have a pre-night booked at Hilton Newark Penn Station. My family consists of 3 adults (me, husband, MIL) and 2 kids. 3 large suitcases, 3 carryons.

I was planning to uber, but am now questioning the logistics of that with 5 people and luggage. Right now, my best idea is to order an Uber XL & see if we all fit. If so, great. Otherwise, part of our group can split up and order a 2nd Uber.

Any suggestions for our transportation? Whether Uber or any private transfer service, etc?

    Thanks!

  3. My party of 6 did not have a good experience with MTD on Anthem last June. Even with reservations, we waited for 20-45 min. each night to be seated. There were several lines, it was quite chaotic in the waiting area.

We had a totally opposite experience on Independence a few months prior, and with a larger party (10). It wasn't chaotic at all, we were promptly seated and had awesome service. So we've seen MTD work well. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience on Anthem. Our next sailing we have chosen traditional dining, just due to the inconsistent experiences.

  4. We're planning Alaska for June 2019. Currently booked on Celebrity Eclipse, but still open to change as we learn and research more. I'm wondering if anyone can share what to expect as far as sea day activities with kids? I'm curious about offerings on all lines. We've been mostly loyal to Royal in the past, but have also sailed Disney & NCL, and would be open to hear about experiences on any line.

Our kids will be 10 & 7 when we sail. They are not typically in the kids club, so we look for family activities. I'm a little concerned with keeping them occupied for 3 sea days, not neccesaarily being able to count on pool.

Is there a good place to find kids club daily activity schedules to get an idea what they have to offer also (for celebrity or other)?

    Thanks!

  5. Hello-

Looking for information on RCCL's excursion #PC82 named Electric Ecoboat Tour in Port Canaveral. The description of the excursion states:

"Take to adventure on the water as you and another guest captain your own comfortable two seated whisper quiet and shaded Craig Cat electric motorized boat. Guided by your tour leader, launch your day of fun from a tropical themed island paradise complete with a relaxing beach activity area and have an encounter with the abundant aquatic life of the Banana River lagoon system’s Thousand Islands. Manatee, bottlenose dolphin, exotic water birds, and jumping mullet call this pristine manatee preserve their home. The perfect way to experience the serenity and natural beauty of one of the most unique lagoon systems in the world."

Has anyone experienced this excursion? I am curious as to who the vendor is and how much time you spend on the boat vs on the beach? Also, what beach area is it?

We'll visiting in June on Adventure of the Seas.

    Thanks!

  6. Sorry for your disappointment but perhaps the source of your expectation for an oversized veranda was unclear/incomplete... Many related posts here on Cruise Critic make it clear that the cabins with oversized balconies on Solstice Class ships are those that are situated on the forward or aft facing angles [slants] leading to/from the ships' "bump-ins/bump-outs" but some posters have taken/do take a "shortcut' in their explanations by using an "on the hump" reference... Those cabins situated on the straight-away of the "bump out"--as 1628 is on Reflection-- feature standard sized verandas varying by cabin category...

For Deck 11 on Reflection, the cabins featuring oversized balconies include...

    • Port-side staterooms 1547, 1549, 1599, 1601, 1603, 1605 [all AquaClass 1], 1611 [Penthouse Suite], and 1615 [sky Suite]...
    • Starboard-side staterooms 1552, 1554, 1614, 1616, 1618, 1620 [all AquaClass 1], 1634, 1636 [both Concierge Class 1], and 1638 [sky Suite]...

8279 on Eclipse does indeed feature an oversized veranda [though not necessarily the largest of the angled/slant balconies; there is some variation among them]... I've occupied the equivalent cabin on Deck 12 [2105] while aboard Eclipse; the balcony is larger but not so large as to accommodate four deck chairs [even if one were successful (somewhat doubtful) in securing extras]...

Thanks for your help! I'm new to Celebrity so trying to get familiar with the fleet & options available.

I'm hoping 8279 on Eclipse is similar to same stateroom on Solstice. This video makes the balcony appear quite large.

That said, if I could find a bigger one that accommodated 4, I'm still open to changing. It's for Alaska 2019, so lots of time but I like to book early to get the best selection.

  7. Hello,

I'm looking for a stateroom on Eclipse that can accommodate 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids) and has a larger balcony with 4 chairs? Does this exist other than suites? I looked at an aft sky suite but it appears those only have 2. I'm also considering booking 2 adjoining verandah rooms, but want to see if there's an option I've overlooked.

    Thanks!

  8. We were booked in an aft Jr Suite (1694) on the 5/25 Adventure for $4657 (2 adults, 2 kids- refundable booking). Yesterday, I logged on to take advantage of the cruise planner sale and noticed a Kids Sail Free banner. My 5/25 sailing wasn't included for whatever reason but the next sailing on 6/8 was. There wasn't an aft Jr Suite available at the time, but there was an aft balcony (1692) available for a total of $2881 plus $200 obc (refundable booking price). The extra space in the Jr suite was not worth about $2k to us, so we made the switch. On top of that, saved another $250 on our bevg. pkgs. & a bungalow a Cococay.

All said and done we saved $2,226 to sail 2 weeks later in an aft balcony instead of aft Jr Suite. That $ will probably be "re-invested" in our 2019 Alaska sailing [emoji16]!

  9. Hello-

We're sailing Indy 12/12/16. I'm looking at the Royal Gifts in the cruise planner and really disappointed because there are no Christmas themed gifts and extremely limited kids choices. Does anyone know if they ever add these types of things closer to sailing? I'd love to order mini Christmas trees or other stateroom decor and a few special things for the kids. We're sailing with extended family too, so I'm curious about if it is possible to order and have items delivered to our family's staterooms? Lastly, if we want to pay for specialty dinner/spa appt as a gift for family in another stateroom, how do we go about that?

    Thanks!

  10. Hi-

We're considering a Jewel of the Seas sailing in Oct. 2015. It arrives in San Francisco 2pm one day, stays overnight and departs at 6pm the next day. We were thinking of renting a car for 2 days, so we could see some things outside of metro area where I don't think buses, etc. go. Some things we're interested in are Muir Woods, Point Reyes, riding cable cars, Santa Cruz. Not that we'd do all, but just some examples. Is it logistically possible/easy to rent a car near the port and park it overnight before returning it later the next day? Any recommendations about other transportation options? We do really prefer to be on our schedule, but would consider a tour, etc. Also, we'll have our 6 and (almost) 4 year old , if anyone has recommendations for good things to do with that age group.

    Thanks!
