I agree, that for you, that would be appropriate.  Also, it is worth equally noting and accepting that hundreds of millions of other people may have other things they look forward to.  Cruising is, currently, 'voluntary and as a one or two week activity choice, is certainly not mutually exclusive of loving the country-side, sea-side, city visits, parks, etc.  A booking of a cruise, for example, for a week, does not require such person(s) from doing so many other activities for the remaining 51 weeks in the year.

My own personal opinion of what suits us, this was to be a big cruise for us on the 30th August with MSC for our 50th wedding anniversary.
We have opted for a refund, we also had 4 nights in Lake Garda prior to boarding in Venice booked.
I hope it works out for all cruisers.

Hi all. We've been following this. A bit about passengers being denied boarding who went off on their own for a shore excursion, as well as those who had positive antigen tests (and were also held back for further testing): https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5540/

My idea of Hell being herded about and not free to roam etc.
I realise it's a different world now but not for me like this, looking forward more to our week in Derbyshire UK roaming the hills and mountains :-)

  3. Good luck to all, our Golden Wedding cruise on MSC Musica on 30 August  from Venice finally cancelled last week, we knew it wouldn't happen !
A huge sigh of relief for us, we didn't want to defer etc, settled for a cottage in Derbyshire UK, far safer and more relaxed :-)
We enjoyed our last MSC cruise, can't see us cruising for some time now.
    Cheers from Clethorpes UK.

  4. Hi folks, we are booked from late August around Greek Islands from Venice on MSC Musica , most cruise liners are not starting til October hopefully.

Do people think this will go ahead?

We don't particularly want to go but we don't want to defer as was Golden Anniversary trip. I can't imagine 1000s of people being let into any port for quite some time.

    Hopefully they cancel 😕

  5. Just read article etc, I am about to pay a large balance for late August departure, I can't see it going ahead from Venice!

I don't want to reschedule as it's a Golden Wedding Anniversary trip so pointless another date.

Interesting Cruise Critic interview with Mr A Paradiso , head of MSC UK, you may have already seen it, if not :-

Deals with cruising Post Covid 19. Some are expected i.e. increased health screening for us oldies. Deep cleaning of cabins etc.

Future prices will "depend on demand" and possible "future reduced capacity." Hmm, this may be a reference to his "changes on how we manage Food & Beverages" Could the Buffet be a casualty? what do you think? Reduced capacity may mean fewer cabin stewards but more waiters required in the MDR and specialist eateries if they want tables further apart.

Is this a recipe for price increases 2021/22, any thoughts?

  7. Just returned from 2 weeks on Sea Princess, gym is Ok, equipment is being revamped next month, all new kit, but no Concept Rowers!

There are 6 treadmills, 5 face the window to the rear of the ship.

This can be awkward, we had a lot of windy weather, hence when the boat is rolling from side to side, I had to hang on sometimes. OK if you are walking but a bit dicey for my running.

There is one treadmill facing the port side, far safer when running, s it is not a side to side motion.

  8. I will be on the Crown Princess February 2nd and I just started rowing. My gym, Dedicated Fitness is using these rowers and everyone is enjoying them. I looked at ESPN2 and didn't see anything being televised for this event. This old lady is enjoying rowing.

Keep an eye on this site for World Indoor Rowing Champs, it will not be on TV, but live on the internet, quality is always good too

  9. I was a bit disappointed that there were no rowers on the Caribbean Princess even though the gym was packed with dozens of other cardio-machines. Is it the same on most ships or do other cruise lines cater to those of us who prefer a full body workout? We'll be on the Crown Princess in January and I'd be most interested to know what their facilities are like in this regard.

When vacationing on dry land, I always book only those hotels that have Concept 2 rowing machines. Strange, huh? :D

Bohemian, I am booked on Sea Princess in February for 2 weeks from Fort Lauderdale, one of my main sports is competing on the Concept 2 rower. I will be diappointed if there are non on board, after all it is an American company!

The World Indoor Rowing Champs is in Boston half way though our cruise, I would like to row on that day, and also watch the live webcast from the event. Let me know if you find anything out, I will EMail my cruise ship.

    Cheers from the UK, Steve
