Has anyone visited Ocean Beach Park since the hurricanes? I would like to know if the beach is in good repair, and how much a cab costs from the cruise port to the beach.

I went to Shipwreck and the black sand is more course but unique. The beach bar is a funky shack with cold drinks and good basic food. Monkeys and mongoose are on the hillside behind the bar. The beach is narrow so water reaches the loungers at high tide, the beach is wider at Discovery just a short walk up the beach.

Is Cockleshell a public beach? How much does it cost?

Is the sand soft on the beeches with black sand?

I don't remember his e-mail address right now otherwise I would post it. However, he was really good. I already wrote a good review about him and I have recommended him several times so I won't repeat myself here. Good luck and have a good time no matter whom you use.

Liz, I tried contacting Thenford. However, he is booked for April 4th. Based on his e-mail message he seemed very profesional. I noticed that you recommended other cab drivers as well so I will attempt to contact one of them.

I haven't decided yet if I will take a tour through the cruise line or take a taxi on my own. If I take a taxi on my own to Cockleshell would it be hard or risky to just hire a cab at the peir? I noticed that there are lot of suggestions posted throughout this forum to arrange for a taxi service in advance. Also has anyone actually used "The Adams Group" who keeps advertising his services all over this forum? If so how was he?
