  1. I've looked but can't definitively find an answer regarding USD usage for small amounts such as taxi rides to the cruise port from a downtown hotel.  I think I just might arrange to be picked up at the hotel in advance and therefore, I'd be able to charge the fee but I was thinking about tips and if USD would be acceptable.  Given their fluctuating currency issues, I would think that USD would be appreciated. But I don't really understand the ins and outs of currency so....any help is greatly appreciated.

  2. We did have a couple of good tour in Puerto Madryn and the Falkland Islands that we could recommend if you would like .

I'd like to know what you booked in Puerto Madryn and the Falklands.  I am always open to suggestions.

  3. I booked Copa business class through our cruise line, Celebrity.  It was $2400 round trip from Miami.  Since I have already paid, I haven't kept up with price changes....don't want to be disappointed, I guess.  My concern now is whether the 737 Max will be back flying the route.  It's supposed to be back in January which is when I will be flying...we shall see.

  4. I have used them in the Caribbean, which was not good, but I've used them extensively in Europe and can highly recommend them.  As to this itinerary, I am a newcomer and cannot offer any specific except to say I have 3 tours booked with them. One in Ushuaia, one in Puerto Madryn and one in Montevideo.

  5. I've searched for some information on this but came up short.  The Volunteer Point excursion offered by Patrick Watts is completely booked but he suggested Bertha's Beach as an alternative.  I'm wondering if anyone can offer an opinion as to whether that is a worthwhile option or should I just bite the bullet and pay the ship's exorbitant charge for the Volunteer Point excursion?  I will have my 14 grandson with me and I want him to have a very memorable time.  Thanks in advance for the help.

  6. During the days that the ship passes by the several noted Antarctic locations as printed in the itinerary, is there any narration from ship crew by way of explanation as to what we will be seeing?  I prefer to watch from my obstructed view balcony on the starboard side heading south but do you think i'd be better served to go up on deck to see?  Thanks in advance for the help.

  7. Thanks for all the help.  If I just keep the triple but then have to cancel my grandson, will I have to move cabins?  I was able to shift to a veranda for just a little more than the inside.  It is an obstructed view, however.  But I am wondering if we wind up with being just my husband and I, are we safe to stay in the Triple?

  8. We are booked on Eclipse for their next sailing to South America and Antarctica next January 2020.  I just learned our grandson may be able to join us but our inside cabin doesn't accommodate a third person. We are in Category 9 and I would have to downgrade but pay an additional $1000.  Do you think that's correct?  He said our category only holds 2 people.  If he's right, I will have to wait and see if any further price reductions show up.   Any idea when a new sale might be coming up?

  9. Hope I can explain this but here goes:

Flying into Newark day before ship sails at Cape Liberty

Taking free shuttle to Marriott on Airport property

Thinking of renting a car since we arrive Newark at 10:30 am (visit friends)

    Now:

If we rent car, are there any drop offs for car rentals at the cruise port? OR,

If we rent car and return it to airport, best way to get over to cruise port? OR,

The heck with the rental and just hang at the hotel for the day, best way to get to cruise from hotel and arrange pick up at cruise's end for airport return?

Appreciate any suggestions since it's our first time out of Cape Liberty. Thanks!

  10. The only time I've seen or heard people flaunting their status was in the Concierge Lounge. We are diamond plus and generally although we play nice with the Pinnacles....sometimes...very occasionally.... we will overhear some of them flagrantly flaunting! My husband and I just smile and take it all with a grain of salt...and another cocktail.

  11. We have only cruised RCI smaller ships so this will be a new experience for us. Must we make reservations ahead of time for 12 nights worth of dinner or can we just go to the Windjammer? Would we be missing something great if we skipped the included restaurants, in your opinion?

Appreciate any input with regard to this. I'm having trouble understanding it all and I am blaming on my age ;)
