  1. Our whole family (7 adults and 6 children) is going to Alaska on the Volendam in late June - early July. Vancouver to Vancouver with the ports of call being  Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. The kids are ages 5 to 14. I'd like to have some recommendations for some easy tours that the kids would enjoy, such as seeing animals, riding trains and looking at glaciers. Thanks for your help.

We are on the Westerdam arriving in Yokohama on Mar. 31. Holland America changed the arrival pier from Dusanbashi pier to Yamashita pier. We have a pre-arranged taxi to take me to Tokyo. My problem is whether the taxi should wait at the Yamashita pier which doesn't seem to have immigration facilities or at the regular cruise terminal at Dusanbashi pier. HA was pretty clueless.

Does anyone know if Yamashita pier have any immigration facilities for cruise passengers?

    Thank you for your help.

Sorry, that should be Osanbashi pier

  4. Thank you for your comprehensive reply. Where do I get on the limousine bus? Actually my final destination is the New Otani Hotel which is in Chiyoda-ku.

  5. We'll be arriving in Tokyo on the Westerdam on Mar. 31 for a 3 day post cruise stay. Would like to have recommendations as to which area is best for shopping and sightseeing. Also hotel recommendations in the $200-250 range. Any advice would be appreciated.

  6. Hi Tahitianbigkahuna

We are on the QE SFO-SYD next February with 3 stops in Tahiti: Papeete, Bora Bora and Moorea. Are there any shore excursions available at these ports as we go ashore or do I have to make reservations ahead of time?

If there are excursions available on the docks, what kind are they? Private, semi-private, bus tours?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  8. I was on the Infinity in February and this is what I remember.

Anytime dining is on deck 4 but what difference does that make? The elevator stops on both decks.

Tables for 2 there are 2 choices.

There are about 5 tables along the wall near the entrance. Nobody else sitting next to you but a lot of traffic near the tables.

There are many tables for 2 near the windows. These are arranged as 4 tables in a row with 4-6 inches between the tables. So it's more like a long table for 8

We preferred this arrangement compared to the one along the wall. We always had very pleasant people for conversation.

There may be a few tables for 2 scattered in the dining room but those are usually hard to get.

The Infinity is a fine ship and you'll have a great cruise no matter where you sit.

  9. We were on the Infinity Antarctica cruise in February, balcony cabin deck 7. Everything was fine except our balcony door made terrible noises one night by the rubber gaskets rubbing against each other. It was so annoying that we had to move in the middle of the night to an inside cabin. The problem was fixed in 5 mins. the next morning. The problem did not reoccur. The kicker is that after some negotiations we received $704- worth of future cruise credits as compensation for our troubles. Not bad for one sleepless night.

  10. This will be our third cruise and first trip ever to Europe. I'm so excited I can't stand it. LOL! Though we have traveled extensively in the USofA.

Hubby and I spend a lot of time enjoying the anticipation before a trip and part of that is researching the various places we go and want to do. To us it makes for a more relaxing experience once vacation time does begin.

I am glad that you're so excited but the Caribbean Princess has the British Isles cruise on July 7 and 19 but not on July 17. It would be a shame if you got there 10 days late or 2 days early. Have a great cruise.

  11. Would be nice if the US returned the favor......US visa fees are quite high themselves, along with in person interviews, fingerprinting, etc... Ahh well...one can hope.

Are you kidding me? We were fingerprinted 3 different times in Argentina while on our Antarctic cruise a month ago.
