  1. We are traveling from Basel to Amsterdam in May on Viking. I am interested in information about the optional tours on this trip. Also is the boat docked within walking distance of the towns. We have never traveled with Viking so I really appreciate any info. Thanks

  2. We are going on a 3 week river cruise in May and will each take a carry on rolling bag and a back pack. We do not check our luggage. One experience of not getting your luggage for a week at a remote spot on Costa Rica makes a person realize that one small bag is better than nothing. Everything I pack has a dual purpose or can be worn with lots of things or it doesn't go in the suitcase. You would be surprised what you can get in one bag. Our traveling companions are always amazed at how well we can dress from one small bag. Most ships have laundry facilities or will do the laundry for you, and we take advantage of that too. Just take things that are wash and wear! Pick one color such as black pants, black skirt, black capris etc. It makes traveling so much easier.

  3. Looking forward to our May 2014 Uniworld river cruise. We are even more excited after reading this wonderful, informative review. We have taken many cruises but this is our first river cruise. You have answered many of my questions and loved all the pictures even though we will be on a different boat. Thanks for posting. Your review is so much more informative than the Uniworld website.

  4. Sailed on the Navigator last week. We had a $60 credit for specialty restaurant and chose Giovanni's since the cover charge was $20 each. We thought the food was delicious. We had scallops for an appetizer, filet mignon and dessert. We thought the service in the main dining room was better. The server seemed distracted, under staffed. There seemed to be an under current of staff conflict. With better service, it would have been a really great dining experience. We didn't think Chops was worth the extra expense. A $35 charge per person plus the up charge for some of the steaks. Add a bottle of wine and extra tip and you would have $150 dinner. We thought the food in the main dining room was really good.
