  1. We were there in January with two 10 years and a 7 year old and spent the day at Coki Beach. It was their favorite day of the cruise. They loved the snorkeling and seeing all of the fish. It was a great spot to hang out for the day with all of them. We considered doing some shopping on the way back to port but all decided on extra beach time instead. I would definitely do that again.

We did have all of our own snorkel gear for the kids. My husband and I brought masks and snorkels and really didn't miss having fins. It worked out great.

  2. We had a porthole and connecting oceanview on the Dream last week. We loved the rooms. You definitely heard the waves crashing and there were some that were really loud but it didn't keep any of us from sleeping or wake us up. It was also loud coming in to port in the morning.... it felt like the room was shaking but we were getting up and ready to go by that point anyway and our kids slept through it in the porthole room.

I would definitely do that again as an affordable way to get the five of us into two rooms.

  3. We will! DD11 will be there too. We took a girls cruise in August and she won a SOS in trivia. Not to be outdone by his sister, DS9 is bound and determined!

Ice cream and trophies aside, the thing I am most excited about is that my dad is meeting us in Port Canaveral and we are surprising the kids with a day at Universal Islands Of Adventure. DD is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and she will be OVER the moon!!

We just did a day at Islands of Adventure before our cruise on the Dream and it was amazing. So much fun!!

My kids were determined to win a ship on a stick as well... they got theirs the last sea day by winning Harry Potter Trivia. It was a perfect opportunity for them as they are also huge fans. My youngest also said that if she had gotten one more camp carnival medal she would have gotten a ship on a stick there.... I think she had 4 and needed 5 to get the ship.

  4. If anyone has rented from the dive shop - do you know if you can get lifejackets or snorkel vests there? My kids are 10,10 and 7 and are all strong swimmers. They got snorkel sets for christmas but I'm wondering if they would need life jackets while snorkeling?

Hopefully we'll get lucky and it won't be too rough the day we are there!!

  5. I would totally go for it for the extra room. We are taking the kids for the first time in January on the Dream and we did the two rooms.... we have the forward most ocean view room and they are in the porthole in front of us. It was worth it to me to have the extra space and the extra bathroom.

  6. We are surprising our kids with a cruise this Christmas as well... going Jan 25th. We ordered one of these for each of the kids and will set it with the countdown until we leave for the airport.

Then we will be wrapping up other stuff related to the vacation as well that will help them to figure out all of the details about the trip.
