Another wrinkle to that is the Advanced Screening Quesionnaire you fill out 72 hours prior to departure. In that, one of the questions is "have you tested positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of departure? Not sure what happens after that if you indicate Yes, that didn't happen for us yet (I did test positive 2 days before our January cruise so we couldn't go.)

Then, when you're actually checking in, they have the same list of questions, and you are asked if you need to update your prior answers to any of those questions.

However, it is up to you how honest you are; they don't have access to your personal medical information.

Check out their new guidelines that went into effect on the 18th. If you test positive within 3 months, you don't need a pre-cruise test. You need proof of the positive result and a letter from your doctor to say you have no symptoms. check out their "legal" page and "FAQ" page to see this info.

  2. I'm physically disabled and have hip and back issues. My bed at home is an ultra soft, and I never wake up in pain.

Unfortunately, the Carnival mattresses aren't crazy soft like the one I have at home is. When I was on board last time, I asked if there was anything they could do and they gave me another blanket. As you can imagine, that raised me up, but didn't provide additional cushioning underneath. There's nothing squishy about a blanket, lol.

I thought of bringing an egg crate foam, but damn, those things are huge!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

  3. Been a while since we cruised.  Sad to find out that the Carnival Fare Viewer is no longer on the website. Other than doing a mock booking (following through until I see the price only), or calling Carnival, are there any other places to go? The Fare Viewer was a fairly quick tool. I liked that, lol. What tools do you use?

Also, if my category becomes unavailable for booking (as all the cabins in that category have been booked), I guess that means that a decrease wouldn't apply to me? Not sure if price decreases are for all categories (whether sold out or not) or just for non sold out categories.

    Thanks!

  4. You can email the maitre d' or show up for the maitre d's hours on the first day. You don't say if you have fixed dining or YTD. With YTD, you don't need to do anything, just make your request as you check into the dining room.

How would I email the maitre d'? It's for the Pride. We have early dining.

  5. Hello fellow cruisers!

We have a special request for dining (need booth near entrance due to disability). I realize that we could wait until we get on the ship to ask, but I'd rather ask ahead of time so that one could hopefully be reserved for us.

Who would you suggest I contact?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. I purchased some Carnival gift cards which I intend to give to Guest Services when I board.

From cruising in the past, I know that if I give cash, I get cash back at the end of the cruise (assuming I haven't spent it all of course!.

Have any of you given ONLY gift cards to use as your onboard account? And did you receive cash back, or a gift card, or a check?

    Thanks!

  7. Hello,

I remember a few years ago that there used to be a phone number to contact someone from Carnival regarding shore excursions.

I think it has changed since then and it's only via email. Is that correct? If so, can you please give me the email address?

    Thanks so much!

  8. Hi everyone,

we are seasoned cruisers, but even us "old" people can get confused at times (mostly by what we hear)!

After having brought bottled water on board for decades now, we sailed Carnival from Baltimore earlier this year. I was extremely surprised to find out that we weren't allowed to bring ANY bottled water on board (used to be they would shake it to make sure that it wasn't alcohol and if it passed the test, you were good to go!). Despite the caps being sealed and my 12 pack still being sealed in that plastic stuff that shrink wraps it all, they confiscated everyone's water including mine.

So...fast forward to now. We are sailing on the Breakaway on Sunday from NYC. I called NCL yesterday and they said "no worries. Just put a luggage tag on it." Me: "Okay, does it HAVE to have a luggage tug on it (just want to make sure I do this right!) or can I just bring it on board with me?" Her: "Either way is fine." I asked again. She assured me checked AND carry on are BOTH okay.

Okay, so alright. Maybe she gave me correct information.

Maybe not! After I had spoken with her, I did see a post here from someone saying that they were trying to bring water on board and were told they had to check it in. Not sure where she sailed from though.

So...now I am dazed and confused (sounds like a good name for a song!):

I am hoping there is somone? Anyone? out there who was sailed Breakaway from NYC recently. Please give me the correct low down on water:

Can I bring it? If so, can I carry it on with me?

And to the Extreme Experts among you: Is this a liner (NCL, Carnival etc) mandate/decision or is it a pier (NYC, Baltimore, etc) one?

    Thanks so much!!!!

  9. We are (almost) ready to set sail this weekend on the beautiful Breakaway...yippee!

To those of you who have sailed her recently, is O'Sheehans open for breakfast? Are the breakfast times still 8-11am if they are?

Anyone remember any of the breakfast foods that they offer? Just wondering if its hot or more continental like.

From your experience, if we were to have breakfast around 10am, do you think they are super busy then or is the place clearing out.

    Thanks!!

  10. After reading a couple of reviews here saying snorkeling at elbow beach wasn't that great (fish wise), we are rethinking... To those of you who have been to church bay... Are there more fish there? What is your opinion on elbow vs church for snorkeling?

    Thanks!

  11. I chose the earliest time available (10am) for our "arrival time" at the pier. I Just looked at my edocs and noticed this:

"Please note the time you have selected to arrive at the pier.

Guest arriving to the pier before your select arrival time will be asked to come back at the appropriate time."

What has been your experience at NYC with this? If I arrive at 9am, will they really turn me away?

Supposed to start boarding at 12pm. what has been your experience with this also?

    Thanks!

  12. Can you or anyone who has been on the Bermuda itinerary talk a little about how it compares to more traditional cruises where you hit a few ports? I've thought about this cruise a number of times since I like the idea of spending a couple days in NYC before, but staying in one spot makes me a little apprehensive.

I love it! We went last year and we are going again this week! It's SO nice not to have to "watch the clock" and SO nice not to have to hurry, hurry, hurry back to the ship.

There is an incredible amount of things to do in Bermuda, whether beaches, museums, shopping or more. You will NOT be bored. We didn't do everything there was to do last year, so we are back. But guess what? After planning out this itinerary, we STILL need to come back again to "finish it up."

    What are you apprehensive about?
