  1. Be aware

The insurance company not your doctor is in charge of accessing your medical condition not your on-site doctor. On a recent cruise, after a week long hospital stay in Rhodes, Greece for obstruction of the GI tract the doctor recommended that I needed to fly first class for what turned out to be a 24 hr in duration trip back to Miami. The insurance company said that they knew better then the doctors in accessing medical needs and only authorized reimbursement for ECONOMY.

The insurance would only reimburse me after I filled my claim and was forced to go out of pocket $100,000 of which they only reimbursed me $50,000.:mad::mad:

  2. Thanks for all the responses.

I did look up flights and found one on KLM that changes in Amsterdam and then goes directly to Capetown. Only two stops and less than 24 hours. RT flight (including return from Singapore) costs $1600. Tempted to book myself if O will give me airfare credit; but since it is booked don't give it much hope at this late date.

TA is sick and not in office. I will not use him again. I always booked my air myself. Guess I will go back to it.

Another couple on cruise indicated that they have been booked the same way. Maybe we can have a cruise critic meet and greet in 7 hr layover in Heathrow. Also may be worth getting membership in AA club.

  3. and agree that O show how lengthened days in port in Istanbul instead of going to Greek ports that many of us have been to; but we are all between a rock and a hard place. We are at O's mercy. I guess that this is one of those situations where you have to make lemonade out of very expensive lemons. Guess we have to make the best out of a bad situation.

  4. problem but......if you used to doing everything yourself, it gets very frustrating the more you try and the more you unable to manage your reservation. I called the IT website help line today and I was told that they (including the supervisor) could do NOTHING but in a RUSH work order for the real IT people who the were the only could make changes. PS. My TA had put in work orders for the past four weeks.

I glad that I found this thread to vent and find out that what they have been telling me that the problem was systemic were true.

I finally gave in today and booked my excursions and restaurant reservations by phone. I leave in 12 days for a B2B from Ft Lauderdale to Buenos Aires.

  5. My email address is sgoldshe@cognizant.com. You make it sound so terrific I can't wait to spend 12 days in it on October 29th cruising to the Caribbean.

it is nice to hear first hand from someone who was actually in 6131. So far it has been hearsay.

Cruisers are like lamb laid to the slaughter if they don't read boards such as these.

Kitycaty- If you buy 100 shares of RCCL you get an onboard credit whether you book a cruise on Celebrity or RCCL. 100 shares is about $4800. For a 7 day cruise you get $100 for a 9+ cruise you get $200. On the three cruises booked to date I expect to receive in aggregate $500. You can't get a >10% return on most other investments. It also pays a 1% dividend and is highly regarded by analysts.

  6. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP! I SWITCHED CABINS FROM 6118 TO 6132

IF IT WASN'T FOR THE HELP ON THIS BOARD, I WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN KNOWN THAT 6132 WAS LARGER AND THAT BUYING A 100 SHARES OF RCCL ENTITLES YOU TO A ONBOARD CREDIT BOTH ON CELLEBRITY AND RCCL. SINCE I AM LEAVING NEXT SATURDAY FOR BERMUD, OCT 29TH ON CONNIE AND JUNE 16, 2006 ON EXPLORER IT THE CREDITS ADD UP. I ONLY WISH THAT I HAD KNOWN IT FOR ALL MY PAST SAILINGS

I HAVE DECIDED THAT UNLESS YOU DO YOUR OWN REASON, TA DON'T PROVIDE ANY OF THE ABOVE HELPFUL HINTS. I PREVIOUSLY ASKED MY TA TO CALL CELEBRITY ABOUT THE SIZE OF 6132 AND SHE TOOK CELEBRITY'S WORD THAT IT WAS THE SAME SIZE AS ALL OTHER SS AND EVEN THOUGH SHE PREVIOUSLY WORKED IN MARKETING FOR RCLL NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE SHAREHOLDER BENEFIT

PLEASE EMAIL ME AT SGOLDSHE@COGNIZANT.COM AFTER YOUR AUG CRUISE AND LET ME KNOW IF IT LIVES UP TO THE HYPE.

THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF MAKING THE CHANGE WAS REACHING MY AMEX TA. I LEFT TO TWO VOICEMAILS AND AN EMAIL. FRUSTATED, I HAD ANOTHER TA MAKE THE CHANGE. iT APPEARS THAT SHE ISN'T IN TODAY AND DIDN'T CHANGE HER VOICEMAIL ACCORDINGLY.

  7. It appears on the deckplan that 6131 and 32 balconnies are larger than a traditional SS but does not inecessarily appear so in the photos below. Has anyone actually stayed in 6131 or 6132. Is the balcpony larger (it appears to be an odd shape) and is cabin any bigger of smaller. Bottom line I am booked in SS6118, am I better off there or in 6132 which is also available

  8. After the chaos that we saw at the muster drill on our first cruise, my DW has not gone on the muster drill since. I go so that I know where to go, etc, but truly what is the sense of her going.

If you really think about it, it sort of remainds me of the old "under your desk"

drills that we all did during the cold war. If an emergency actually occurred, the 'orderly chaos" of the muster drill certainly wouldn't be what actually occurs.
