  1. We did the same itinerary for the Navigator 2 years ago on the Mariner. We love the Voyager class and really enjoyed Honduras and Belize. If you have the time, the 7 night would be a lot more relaxing than a 5 night. I enjoy Royal Caribbean and haven't tried Carnival, so I can't compare the ships. Price is always part of my decision. I am sure you will have a great cruise no matter what you choose. Best of luck with your decision.

  2. I got an email from them on Friday with the offer. We were planning to book on Royal Caribbean and decided to book the Reflection instead. Not having to pay the 3rd person rate sealed the deal for us. Plus we get to use our Platinum perks, so that's a bonus.

  3. I have sailed on 4 Royal Caribbean cruises, then tried Princess. We are going on Royal Caribbean again leaving in 11 days. We enjoyed all of our cruises, but strongly prefer Royal Caribbean. We find the food in the MDR and specialty restaurants to be better. We also enjoy the activities and entertainment more on Royal. We enjoyed the aft pool on Princess, the English Pub lunch in Wheelhouse Bar, and the grill by the pool.

All in all, a cruise is what you make if it. If the itinerary and price were right, I would probably cruise on Princess again. We went on the first Caribbean cruise of the season after a transatlantic. There were crew changes, boarding was delayed due to customs, and several venues were closed or being repaired throughout the week. It didn't ruin our cruise. Just made us think about when we book our cruises next time.

Give a Royal a chance. If you like it great, if not then go back to Princess.

  4. A few years ago my mom and I went on a cruise out of Port Canaveral. She had flowers delivered to the ship for my birthday. We are planning to do a cruise next Thanksgiving on the Freedom for my husband's aunt and uncle's 25th anniversary. They want to celebrate onboard the ship with cake and a toast. Can a cake be delivered to the ship or do you have to order through Royal Caribbean?

    Thanks,

  5. It was formal night on our first cruise and my husband wanted to buy me some flowers. The guy selling the flowers asked my husband what our room number was, he realized that our cabin steward was his fiance. The guy gave my husband 6 roses for the price of 3 and told him to leave them in the room at the end of the cruise for his fiance. When husband told me the story I thought it was really sweet.

  6. Our first cruise was Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas in March 2007. We did an 8 nt. Eastern Caribbean itinerary and yes we were hooked. It's funny because I was so hesitant to cruise that my husband had to cancel our honeymoon plans. Little did we know that a few short years later we would give cruising a try and love it.

  7. Hello, I'm a newbie to this site and to cruises. My family did a last minute plan to go to Alaska on the Norwegain Pearl. Normally I have more time to plan and research, but we're leaving in June and I feel completely at a loss on what to expect, what to pack, etc.

Read a lot on the board about things to pack (though I think I'll need a mule to carry everything!) Here's a packing list for you. You will want to dress warm and in layers, it can get warm so take some shorts and t-shirts, also a couple pairs of walking shoes, and a jacket/raincoat. http://www.alaskacruises.com/what_to_pack.asp

Anyone been on the Norwegain Pearl? Where can I find layout of the ship so that I can know what's where, etc? I haven't been on this ship, but here's the link to the deck plans.

Any good tips for a newbie and in need of info quickly for a new experience on a cruise?

Check out the NCL board and read some reviews on the Pearl so you can get an idea of what to expect. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=378

    Have a good trip!

  8. My husband and I are in our late 20's. We too have put off vacations because of moving, not enough money, or vacation time, etc. 3 1/2 years my father-in-law came down with an auto-immune condition and almost passed away 2 months before our wedding. We almost post-poned the wedding, but he survived and was able to walk with my husband down the aisle. This year we went to Arizona for Christmas with my in-laws because they hadn't all been together since their father/grandfather passed away 10 years ago. A few days after returning, my brother-in-law came down with a bacterial infection and went into septic shock. He nearly passed away, but is doing much better now. It was after he recovered that we decided to go on our first cruise. We just returned 6 days ago and wish we were still there on the boat. We have learned how quickly live passes us by and how you can't take things for granted. I can't wait till our next cruise. We are planning a cruise with my in-laws and my own family in the next few years.

So why do I cruise? To spend quality time with my husband, to relax, to meet new people, to experience adventures that I could never have imagined were possible.
