  1. Contact Viking

Your response was not helpful at all. I know to call Viking, just wanted to ask for any advice from other travelers who might have had a similar experience.

I did call Viking and they will refund our excursions within 21 days to the credit card used.

  2. My DH has been very ill, hospitalized for over a week. He is home to recover but it looks like we may have to cancel.

My question is this: We have booked and paid for our excursions. The bookings close this Wednesday for the cruise. Would you go into My Viking Journey and cancel them before calling to cancel the cruise or wait until then? We have trip insurance.

    Thanks for your advice,

    Linda

  3. No electric scooters and my understanding is that they are not permitted.

The Chefs Table was marvelous, first theme was A Gastonomic Journey Through Time. Cannot wait for our next one!

    Food and service remain impeccable.

Ships motion seems exaggerated to us. Not sure if it's simply because the ship is much smaller than our other cruises or quite what.

Off to the beach ... !!

Thanks for the updates, we are getting very excited for our upcoming vacation on the Viking Star.

    Linda

  4. Fabulous, this sounds great! We will try as many as possible, have 3 reserved now. Thank you all and happy holidays.

We will be boarding the Viking Star a few weeks after you return. If it isn't too much trouble, would you please post when they change the menus for the Chef's Table and what the theme of the meals are? Your impressions of the dining experience there would be appreciated, too.

    Thanks.

    Have a great trip!

    Merry Christmas!

    Linda

  5. We are home a week from our Suite cruise on Island Princess. The Maitre'd invited the table of eight next to ours in any time dining to come to Sabatini's every morning for breakfast with the suite passengers although they were not in a suite. They came every day. We asked the manager how this could be and he thought they must have known someone high up on the crew.

I would suggest asking nicely and you most likely will have your request accepted.

    Have a great cruise!

    Linda

  6. There are basically 2 dining times. 5:30 and 8pm. If you choose anytime, that is when you will eat. If you choose fixed, that is when you will eat. Do yourself s favor, and pick fixed

We had traditional dining which was supposed to be at 5:45 but was moved up to 5:15. Not wanting to get in the long lines for Any Time we stuck with it. Never made it to the Elite Lounge since it was from 5 to 7 every night.

  7. We had a similar case where we experience flight delays going from Texas to FLL, with air arrangements booked through Princess. This was for a 10 day Eastern/Southern cruise.

If you have a flight delay CALL the in-transit delay number that Princess provides. If you have multiple delays (like we had), phone for each delay. Talking to them, ask what your options are.

Upon our 2nd delay (plane in Atlanta with no crew), they advised us that what they would do if we missed the ship was to fly us to the first major port (St. Thomas), book us a hotel, and (if I recall rightly) provide $500/day for meals and expenses. (this might be a "we'll reimburse you" or have different $ values under current guidelines, so don't quote me).

We could think of much worse things than to spend a couple of relaxing extra days in St. Thomas where the snorkeling is great. And, knowing the options actually took the stress of flight delays away.

Amazingly for us, even though we made it to the port after the ship was supposed to have sailed, it had waited for us! The in-Transit Delay folks alerted the ship to our situation, the flight delays, and timing, which is something they don't advertise. The Captain makes the final choice when to sail.

So, with flights booked through Princess, there are good options available, as long as you are willing to go with the flow.

If one's heart is set on the first port, then the best bet is to arrive at the home port a day early, which is our norm for winter.

Thank you very much for answering my question! We are scheduled to fly in a day before sailing but the weather for this upcoming weekend is iffy.

    Again, THANK YOU!!!!!

  8. I have a flight from JFK to FLL on February 14th. I booked the cruise and the airfare, thru Princess and the initial flight was getting me in at a reasonable time. It was changed and now I'm scheduled to arrive at 2:22PM. I tried to get it changed but they don't change it until it arrives after 2:29PM. Crazy huh. They said they could change it but it will cost over $500 in charges to change the flight.

They said that they would not be able to get me to Princess Cay so then they would get me to St Thomas on day 4 of the 7 day cruise. I'm so annoyed!

Are you experiencing the same issues Linda?

No problems right now, mostly curious. We are scheduled to fly to FLA on Saturday, sailing o Sunday, and the forecast is calling for a considerable amount of snow.

Hope you can get everything settled for your flights.

  9. I searched but didn't find the answer to my question so here goes....

If you booked EZ Air and miss your ship due to flight delays and the first two days of your cruise are sea days what happens? Does Princess get you to the first port as soon as possible and put you up in a hotel there or do you wait it out at home? If you are flown to the first port asap who pays for the hotel, meals, etc.

Thanks in advance for your helpful answers.

    Linda

  10. Checking the cruise planner and the Coral is showing 4 sailings as sold out: Jan 16, 28, Feb 5 and 25. I check pricing almost daily and was disheartened to see these sailings as sold out. Does anyone know why? Is Princess just updating the pricing or sending the Coral to dry dock earlier than expected?

  11. DH and I are thinking of booking a full suite on the Coral next winter (snow always makes us yearn for a cruise:) ) We wondered if you received one mini-bar set-up with the suite and one for being elite.

I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer to my question although I have seen it previously.

As I have to go out and shovel snow now, I thought it would be quicker to start a new thread to get my answer.

    Thanks to all!

    Linda

  12. We visited the Hypogeum in Malta. They only allow 10 people in per hour and no cameras or bags of any kind...everything was locked up. This was a ship's excursion. We looked into getting tickets on our own but they were sold out for weeks!

Enjoying your commentary on the cruise.

We found the Trident Grille to be quite awful. Usually get lunch there often while cruising but after that first time didn't go back. Loved the pizza.

  13. We were on the Venice to Rome sailing September 20. Disappointed that Tunisia was cancelled but enjoyed Sicily in its place.

Liked the ship but found the dining room and buffet service to be qiuite slow. Had lunch one day at the Grille and it was almost inedible. The pizza was great!

We spent three extra nights in Rome, the crowds were incredible. We were about 5 minutes from the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain in the other direction.
