Was thinking more like Hairspray, Grease, Chicago and Mama Mia, all of which are (were in the case of Chicago) quite good productions for being on a cruise line.

What else would you suggest they find for similar prices? Heaven forbid they show Hairspray on 4 ships.

And, yes, they are good productions that nonetheless do not fill the theatres because too many people won’t sit for 2 hours. Why pay licensing fees to be unable to fill a theatre?

Hardly.  It's like a dreadful musical version of an old TV cartoon... think WonderTwins or PowerPuff Girls. It just shows how Royal panders to all things kid-friendly these days and has abandoned their adult Broadway style shows on all the newer ships.

You mean like Cats or We Will Rock You, shows that people continually complain about and walk out of? Is it that hard to figure out why they are abandoning such shows? They can’t afford shows people might actually want to see.

Exactly.  We'll be sailing the Odyssey in March 2025 out of Bayonne, NJ.  Last March sailing from the same port on the Anthem it was 35 degrees when we boarded.

My guess is that folks wanted anything other than the same ship year after year so the Odyssey, while not the very best suited for cold weather, is pretty well suited for it with the very nice Solarium and 270 in the back.

I think it will be great for adult groups. With kids, I would only consider it in April during Spring Break since it’s usually a bit warmer by then.

    And

    1. absence of the roof over family pool is a step down

    2. just like an absence of open dining area behind Windjammer

    3. absence of Virtual TV in most inside rooms

We LOVED Anthem (11 times) and will see how Odyssey will work out out of New Jersey from November till April

With regard to the family pool, that depends on where you’re sailing. Sailing from Rome, an extra outdoor pool sounds lovely. From Cape Liberty, it’s an odd choice.

Our cruise is in 3 weeks. I sent a dining request a few days ago with the sail date, ship and booking ref in the subject line and just received an auto response saying all emails should include the above. Is that the only response I should expect?

That’s all I got and it was honored on our cruise last week.

Next few weeks are sketchy at best (have to imagine a few weeks to clear debris and get any clear lanes open). This is a very significant cargo port and authorities will likely be prioritizing cargo ships.

Agreed. Given the threat this poses to supply chains (and how toxic such issues are post-pandemic), cargo will likely be the priority and cruise ships will just need to figure things out on their own.

So does the perfume and aftershave that people bathe themselves in daily.   Those fumes are just as detrimental to people with lung conditions as smoking is!

That is patently false. Show me the perfume-induced emphysema or lung cancer patients. 80% of lung cancer related deaths are thought to be caused by smoking.

I’m on this sailing as well, was definitely a nice surprise getting that email. Are you able to book anything yet for st Maarten? My app still showing Labadee currently

No, but we were interested in the Race excursion there and just booked it on Viator this evening.

Oasis of the Seas sailing out of Miami on March 31 replaced Labadee with a second day at Coco Cay.  Really?  Two days of amusement park in a row?

RCI also will be arriving at Falmouth 3 hours earlier for that previously scheduled stop.

Better than nothing and if you don’t want both days, treat one as a sea day and get off the ship on the day with better weather.

Given the fact that the gangs have taken over and shut down the airport in Cap Hatien and effectively control access to the Labadee area, the situation is not likely to get better any time soon

No. I wish they’d cancel further out. There’s no hope of imminent improvement in the situation.

Grand turk is a nice stop if you just want to mill about for a couple hours. Food, shops, pool and ample beach space right there at the port.

I think it’s a reasonable replacement for Labadee and I’d certainly take it over Nassau…

I understand that, but we're supposed to be at Labadee on Tuesday and haven't heard anything from RCI. I'll try emailing the suite concierge to see what they have to say.

You’re having a sea day instead of Labadee. This was announced yesterday.

I don’t believe that’s what Jet Driver is saying, read their posts. It reads to me like they’re talking about people’ own insurance (happy to be corrected if im

    wrong).

I doubt Royal cares deeply about British passengers’ trip insurance. That insurance hasn’t covered Haiti for some time now. I suspect it is Royal’s own insurers in this case. It’s their private “island” so there is enhanced liability there.

And yet I was told on another thread that UK insurers were awful for not covering people at Labadee, that US insurers were

much better and RC should stop there regardless 😂

To be fair, you were talking about trip insurance. Royal was likely told by ITS OWN insurers that these calls aren’t worth the risk. These are the same people as the ones who might say “paint that edge yellow so people don’t trip and fall off the ship.” They look for worst-case scenarios.

US trip insurance still covers people who were in Labadee yesterday.
