  1. We have cruised during February the past two years (2018 on the Vista and 2019 on Celebrity). Both times it was mainly couples. I was really surprised at the number of people who dressed up for the elegant nights. There were quite a few tuxes/long or fancy cocktail dresses on both cruises.

  2. We cruised out of New Orleans on the Dream a little over a week ago (Sep 9th). We were specifically told by the port employee checking our paperwork that they had been instructed by the cruiseline to tell Priority passengers that they no longer had early access to their cabins. The employee was quite clear that this came from Carnival's instructions to them and that past procedures were different. We checked anyway, and our cabins were ready, with cards available, when we boarded.

  3. We stayed in 14212, We really liked the quiet hallway with almost no traffic, and enjoyed the fantastic views from high up. In addition there was a convenient entrance to the spa just a few doors down. I do agree that the elevator situation was a drawback - there are only two that go to that level and I had an issue with my knee at the time that made using the stairs really painful.(Under normal circumstances this would not be a problem - just bad timing.) We ended up wasting a lot of time waiting. One of my favorite things about the Vista is the air conditioning. Each cabin has its own a/c unit, so we could keep the cabin comfortably cool at all times.

  4. I did keto on my February Vista cruise. They had broccoli available every night, so I would get that and add some extra butter. I also carried a small bottle of MCT oil in my handbag to use with the balsamic vinegar they have in carafes, and had a salad at lunch and dinner. (I did not realize they have olive oil available as well.) They still have a cheese plate on the dinner menu for dessert.

  5. This thread concerns me a little bit. My wife and I are taking our first cruse on the inspiration in October. We will be in cab E5 an interior cabin at the front of the ship.

Anyway temperature is more then just a comfort thing for us. My wife has MS and if she gets over heated she can have real problems walking. Have a place where she can cool off is paramount. Especially at night. Is there anything I can do to avoid these issues? What can be done if they show up mid cruise?

My college age daughter has the same disease. Heat can affect her walking, and also makes her throw up. Carnival has a special needs department. We requested a fan for the cabin through them on our past couple cruises, and it was there when we boarded. I always pack a small one, just in case. We have started cruising from November through the end of March, and have not had an issue with hot cabins since then. Although when she was around 16, we had a cabin that was fine when we went to sleep, but got up to around 76 in the middle of the night. She came back from the teen club and after 15 minutes got sick. I immediately called guest services, told them she threw up from the heat, and they immediately came and fixed it. It worked fine after that, so they can fix the problem if they are inspired to do so.

  6. My sister just cruised on Elation with two friends. The friends wanted to spend some time in New Orleans before sailing. I found Place d'Armes for them. They loved it. Definitely not a chain but awesome service and a lovely room.

We stayed at the Place d'Armes in January. Great hotel, but be sure to request a courtyard room. The ones on the street side have windows, so you get quite a bit of noise from people in the street most of the night. Then the trucks start early in the morning.

  7. Katiel53 not all disabilities u can see. Sometimes u are better one day- some days you are in a wheelchair. It's hard enough to explain to every dr one sees much less a carnival rep. We don't want to explain to every person what our disease is and what's wrong with us.

Well said, Eileen. Maybe the world would be a kinder place if everyone had to experience a few hidden disabilities for a few days to see how difficult it can be.

  8. Has anyone stayed in this room and if so.. hows the temp of the ac?

We stayed in that cabin last January. It was nice and cool, we got the temperature lower than 70. Please post when you get back and let me know how it is in August. (We had a horribly hot inside cabin on the Valor lido deck so I understand your concern)

  9. It is not possible to cool an individual cabin to 70..Ships are not built so cabins can be targeted zone cooler. The large common areas have chillers pushing out cold air. Cabins are completely prefabricated before being inserted in the ships. They do not have auxiliary cooling capabilities.

I have an alarm clock that also shows the temperature of the cabin. The air temp in our cabins in the last few cruises we have taken have ranged from 67 to 70. They have all been in balcony cabins. We do keep the curtains closed during the day to keep the room from heating up.

  10. My daughter needs to have the cabin no warmer than 70 degrees. I have a letter from her neurologist stating the reason with me on every cruise. I contacted the special needs department for our last two cruises and had them provide a fan for our cabin. I also let them know of the temperature requirements. We have not had a problem recently with warm cabins, but I am prepared to invoke the 110% vacation guarantee if we do and they cannot fix it in the first 24 hours of the cruise.

  11. Just off the Breeze from last week and our final sail & sign that was given to us on the last night is totally different then what they charged our credit card. (like almost $100 more!)

How do you obtain another copy of your sail & sign to see if they added things that shouldn't have been added.

    Thanks !

I just had a small discrepancy on my recent cruise. If you call Carnival's 800 number and speak with a customer service rep, they can immediately email you a PDF of your final Sign and Sail bill. (A few bar charges did not make it through their billing before we left the ship.)

  12. I am a huge fan of booking early saver. For my Mediterranean cruise in 2013, I booked it in January for a September cruise. A month later, the whole Triumph incident happened and we ended up with an $800 price drop before final payment! That made for an incredibly affordable cruise and gave us $800 to spend on tours that would have otherwise been an additional expense :).

We did that same cruise earlier in the summer, and received $600 in obc. It covered gratuities, wine and a few other things. I have also received obc on a couple of other Early Saver bookings, but that is the most I have saved. Any little bit helps!

  13. See from your post that you're based in Miami. May I recommend that you pick an eight day sailing on the Breeze that goes to the southern caribbean visiting both Aruba and Curacao. It does this itinerary about once per month and it has gotten great reviews on these boards. I was on the Breeze two years ago and had a great time and Aruba is my favorite port after 25 cruises. Enjoy.

I agree. We did this itinerary on the Miracle when it was first offered, and Curacao is now my favorite port. My husband loved the snorkeling.

  14. I will be on the Dream in Jan. I have a C-pac and can't breathe in a hot room. Can you use the Carnival guarantee to get off at first stop if the ac doesn't work?

I am planning on doing so if our cabin is hot. My daughter has a neurological condition and temperatures over 70 degrees make her physically ill (her hands and legs go numb and her vision goes).

  15. Ali was our guide this past March. His English is excellent, and we learned a lot about life on the island from him. He is an extremely nice person - it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. We went to the iguana farm, to Victor's house to see the monkeys (there were quite a few of them in the cage), and then to a lovely bay for snorkeling.
