  1. This was Oct 2007 on Celebrity after leaving Victoria for a "day at sea"!!! Late afternoon, heading NW into the Pacific. Don't know why the Captain stayed on his route with the winds and waves what they were!! That day in Seattle, lots of wind damage and trees downed. In the boat, lots of damage to many heirloom items (booze bottles!!) The lounge up forward where I took the pics was going up and down 4-6 feet, very unstable for a landlubber but pretty wild and exciting!!

This is an extreme example, and not meant to scare you into not cruising out of Seattle. Just a little info on how quickly things can change!!

  2. Will be doing a Princess Connoisseur CruiseTour this summer, and looking for info regarding tipping during the land portion.

As we understand things, there is a dedicated tour guide and bus for a Connie tour. Have read that the guide handles the tipping part for the tours or whatever during the tour, correct??? If so, can it be assumed that we then tip the guide at or near the end of the tour??

Understand that any "extra" tipping is up to us per services received, and tips are included in the meal vouchers. Where else will should we be expecting to tip separately and accordingly??

Any and all advice and comments are appreciated, and thank's in advance!!! Cruise happy!!

  3. For those who have commented on "off the beaten path cruisetour", that is the name of one of Princess' tours. The OP posted what and where the tour goes to. They will have time at some of the land stops to book other tours or do it on their own. They are asking for ideas for both the land and the cruise part of their "Honeymoon".

Don't understand why so many people "bash" or try to change the plans of someone going on an escorted tour, especially if they are newbies to Alaska. Other than being able to stop more if you are in your own car, I'll bet the driver, who is navigating roads that they haven't been on before, probably doesn't have as much enjoyment in the ride as the passenger!!!!

  4. Don't let one poor commentary on an excursion make you change your mind after reading a "fantastic" post by another tour participant!!

There are many other reviews of AK tours, and for sometimes not everything is super wonderful, that's just humanity. Maybe the poster who had such a bad experience on the Denali excursion could post something positive about the rest of the tour, instead using one incident that wasn't up to their expectations. It couldn't have been ALL bad!!

    Just my opinion!!
