Me too, Zanny!  I had Resilient Lady booked for December but had to push her out by a year because of leave issues.  I get on Celebrity Edge in 28 days.  Can't wait.

Well we booked on the Edge in March back to N.z. within 6 weeks but looking forward to exploring  the ship. We were lucky I only saw one wheel chair and one mobility  scooter on Resilient  Lady.i was surprised  that there were slot of older people  on the cruise mostly over65 I think

  2. Hi. When the 2 new ships entered Aust last year.I was eager to try the Edge and Virgins Resilient  Lady ship.

Having just got home from an 11  night cruise on the Resilient Lady she certainly  lived up to the great expectations  I have we had a great time. I could not fault it.

Hoping to book the Edge to N.Z. again for Msrch to compare in my opinion  the ship is the destination. Any thoughts on the Celebrity  Edge ship.

    Thanks in advance

So excited to see Resilient Lady on her inaugural visit to Sydney. I chose my cruise, departing Auckland on an eleven day cruise to Melbourne, because it will be staying two nights in Sydney.  How special is that!!   She also stops for two nights at Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty in NZ.  I am a destination cruiser, rather than a cruiser where the ship is the destination.  But, with this unique cruise ship, I suspect I might become both.   I'm impressed so far.  I needed to contact Guest Service three times during the booking process and the three different staff members gave the impression it was a pleasure to serve me. I have never laughed so much completing a cruise booking on line.  Just saw an interview between Nat and Sir Richard Branson, who said there were 72 different nationalities on board, I hope they have given these young staff lessons on understanding Aussie lingo, as cruising Down Under is going to be a wonderful adventure for them and their passengers.

We are currently translating for a Victorian.

"Have you had a dip?" (as it is really hot at present)

    "Do you mean hummus?"

"No, have you had a dip in the pool to cool down?"

There is a long list, with lots of laughter in our household.

This thread is full of helpful cruisers willing to share the differences between the States in the same country.

We are onlvthis cruise also if it's the one in mid Jan looking forward to the new experience.

$99pp includes dinner, drinks, a show and then dancing at their late night nightclub and obviously you get to check out the ship. You have to book a specific dining venue and most but not all  on the Sydney date  are now booked out.  Dress code is a splash of red.

Thanks for posting @Zanny.  Did you decide to book?

Already have a virgin cruise booked January  2024 and live in Adelaide but I think it's a great idea would have book the dinner and tour if I lived in those 2 states

  5. Hi I just saw that the Virgin Ship Resilient  Lady will be open to the public on Dec 5th  later in the day to have a look at the ship and book one of the restaurants.  For dinner Cost is $99.(not sure if aust dollar although I would say U.S. dollars.

I have a cruise booked on the ship mid Jan but if you lived in Sydney I think this is a great idea.

    What are your thoughts?

Note - the overnight in Circular Quay has the ship heading out to anchor in the harbour at 4am, so day 2 will be tendering ashore. I figure they won't be mentioning that bit on their site. Sounds like fun to overnight at Tauranga and also overnight next to Taronga Zoo.

I have put some thought into the 4 night Burnie trip from Sydney in February but they are just too expensive ATM, but it might be still a possibility if the prices drop by 60%. $330 pp/pn for undersold inside cabins is crazy.

We got all ours for $2800 (not including Adelaide to Melbourne  domestic return but includes .international Mel to Auckland.

Sea Terrace balcony with the hammock.

Thanks for information regarding Sydney (I wasn't  aware of that .

  8. Hi

I was wondering if many of  cruise critic members have booked a cruise on the 2 new ships coming to Aust later this year.

I know they are fairly new especially the Virgin one. At the moment the cheapest cabins are round $300aust  per night.

Do you think they will come down in price as the time get closer to arrival here in Aust.

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

  9. Hi Was just wondering what peoples views are on when all the covid isolation and test rules could end for cruise ships in Australia..

I am not against the rules by any means but seeing in most parts of the world now on cruises there aren't  any restrictions to isolate etc if you test positive. Surely the rules can't  go on forever. This is mainly curiosity  on what others think

    Thanks Zanny

  10. We missed Wellington on Pacific Explorer  3 weeks ago due to bad weather and was about 4 to 5 hours  late  arriving at the others.

Alot  got covid on this trip as it was a 14 day cruise every one had to wear masks from day 8. I wore mine from day 1.Husband tested positve 2 days after we arrived home. I have escaped it.I felt sorry  for alot of the older passengers as they had been looking forward to visiting N.Z. for ages

    Regards Zanny

  11. Hi What ship are you going on.?

Just off Pacific Explorer  and hubby has cpap machine..We took a powerboard one WITHOUTSURGE PROTECTION. as they aren't  allowed  and an extension  cord we had 1 Australian power point.

He always uses boiled water which you can get from cabin steward. Also on P&O ships you can't  even take unopened bottle water has to be in cans. Also think it depends on what company ship you are going on. Hope this helps .

  12. Hi All.

Well just of Pacific Explorer  today after 14 day cruise. Lots of cabins in iso with covid. Not many people wearing masks the first week. From Tuesday 21st March all staff and passengers  had to wear masks indoors.

I wore mine from day 1 and a face shield and never took the lifts so far all good. I was very careful every where.

Most people were just carrying  on like covid never existed  which surprised me

  13. Hi.We are going 14 day cruise to N.Z. leaving from Adelaide .How many warmer clothes would we need to pack to wear during the day there. I really don't  want to fill my case up with lots of jumpers coats etc. As the ship will either have air-conditioning on or if it's cold heating.

We will be leaving in 1 weeks time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards Zanny.

Maybe this is why you haven't caught it on a cruise- wife and I didn't last longer than 3 days after boarding for our first cruise after the pandemic (and after we flew to Sydney to board) - we hadn't got Covid until then.

Hi Well we have about 4 Sea days straight not counting the 1st day. Now I don't  think they have to wear the masks  on the ship now.  We won't  be flying Hope we stay safe as I am very sensible  regarding covid never had it will be using stairs etc

    Thanks Zanny
