We just returned from 8 days on Allure. We had originally booked a Crown Loft Suite, and had five pending RU bids, all for various Star Class cabins. I thought we had a chance, especially since we bid the max for one of the cabin types. It was not to be, as we finally got our five separate "Declined" emails at around 8:15 PM on the first night of the sailing.

    Maybe next time...

Is this the norm for communication regarding Royal Up bids? We sail in June and I put in a few bids for OV and balcony cabins as we have an interior booked.  This is only our second RCCL cruise so I'm not familiar with this process.

  2. Diorshow mascara. The best mascara I have ever used. I swear by it. Yes it is 24 dollars...but its so worth it.

I also love bare escentuals for my skin. Some even contain spf which makes me feel a bit better, especially when dermatologists nowadays say you should wear sunscreen everyday. even in the winter.

@ er345 I'm a size 12 also! Bathing suits are hard to find, I'm tall as well so I'm all types of disproportioned. Sundresses are beautiful and you are right about it being only one item as opposed to two. makes me feel better about packing in an extra pair of shoes =]

I love bare escentuals. It's all I use from foundation, to eyeshadow, to mascara. The foundation does contain SPF 15, and it's so lightweight you don't even feel like you have anything on.

  3. Packing List: Since my chart is 2.5 pages and consists of 8 rows and 4 columns, it's too much to cut & paste. Besides, the details aren't important to anyone but me. Here's just 1 example: this is for the day we are docked at Port Canaveral -

I make a packing list as well. It has every outfit, accessory, shoes, and toiletries we need and which bag they should go in. I even made a packing list for my family that is going with us this year, but they just looked at me like I was crazy. Oh well, I like to be organized.

  4. Anyone who wants to add a photo (or several) - please do so!

Not only is it interesting, posting is a good way to talk cruising while watching the countdown clock:cool:!

I'm going to attach a few pictures of my outfits listed above. Some of the items I'm still waiting on from Old Navy and Steve Madden (shoes). I want to start putting things in the suitcase but I know I'll want to iron everything the a few days before we actually leave the house.

One of the outfits is kind of fun and will probably be a traveling outfit. But I love the Wizard of Oz and could not pass up the shirt. :D

  5. I have all of my clothes in my spare bedroom sorted by outfit. I also love shoes, so it is very hard for me to downsize that portion of my wardrobe. I usually end up bringing 2 flip flops (bronze and black), 3 sandals (brown, black, white), and 2 wedges (black and white).

These are just the outfits I've put together so far (no pics, sorry). We are going to be traveling for 10 days total including our 7-day cruise, so I have a few more outfits to pick out.

Black sateen cuffed shorts + silk sleeveless multi-color U-neck top + black wedges (or purple/black sequin sleeveless top)

White sateen cuffed shorts + red one-shoulder top + white wedges (or yellow lace tank)

Dark rinse denim shorts (dressier) + fuschia sleeveless top + black wedges (or draped teal sleeveless top)

Fuschia ruffle tiered skirt + strapless black top + black wedges or sandals

Purple twirly-style skirt + lilac tank + black or silver sandals

Blue twirly-style skirt + white lace tank + white sandals

  6. I just booked a cabana on-line for our Fascination cruise. Are tender tickets used for this port or is it first come-first served? Just wondering if I needed to wake my family up extra early so I can take full advantage of this beautiful beach day.

  7. There are new "faces" on the board - exciting stuff!

Welcome Amy! I can totally relate to having to lose an entire person. I always say that I need to lose the weight of my two sons (one is 80 lbs and the other is 36). I have lost the weight of a 2 year old so far! I read your blog and I laughed at your descriptions of your exercising and its after-effects. I have been there, but not for a very long time! Your new program sounds really great.

I have the hungry horrors right now. I thought if I would check in here, they would subside. The afternoon is so hard for me if I am home. When I am working, I never think about food.

I'm trying to find the fun in the situation, because right now my entire body hurts from the exercises. I know that means it's working - but dang it's bad. I'm going to try and update my blog everyday with my adventures, so we'll see how that goes. I did update this morning with my fun time at ZUMBA last night. :)

I have the food cravings everyday, and I can't wait for them to go away. It's not like we have a large selection of great restaurants in my tiny town, but I just really like all those foods that are bad for you. And to make matters worse, our state fair is held in my town - and it starts tomorrow! DH and I used to go just to hit our favorite food spots, so we will be skipping that this year.

I've heard that if you can do something for 21 days that it becomes a habit...well I sure hope so!

  8. My DH and I just started on a weight loss journey of our own. We are both over 300 lbs, and we have a lot of weight to lose. Everyone laughs at me when I tell them I need to lose an entire person, but I'm dead serious.

We are in a program through my insurance company for weight management. We meet with a trainer twice per week for three months, have 24/7 gym access, and have access to a dietitian. I'm scared of what will happen after the three months when we lose our trainer, but for now I'm focused on getting healthy.

We've drastically changed our diet - including cutting out all soda - and have changed our sedentary lifestyle. Our goal is to be able to parasail next year when we visit Half Moon Cay, which is 9 months away.

I've always enjoyed writing, so yesterday I started a blog. I hope it keeps me motivated to keep up with the hard work. I can honestly say that I am motivated by results, and the scale read 0 lbs. lost yesterday which was disappointing. It's my first time ever writing in a blog, so I hope it's easy to follow for the readers.

    Good luck to everyone. :D

  9. This thread is great! I can't wait for our trip this year. So, I thought I would share some of our memories.
