This is the first summer that Eclipse has been deployed in Alaska.  I will be on the Solstice later this summer, but it is my understanding that Brent Nixon and his wife are (again) on the Solstice.

Northern Aurora, you are in for a treat! Both Brent and his wife give several presentations; all are fascinating and educational. Do not miss! Have a wonderful time!

  2. Can anyone please clarify for me? I was always told that if you had the Classic Beverage Package (CBP) and you ordered a drink above the CBP cost limit, the WHOLE cost of that drink was charged to you, but if you upgraded to the Premium Beverage Package (PBP) and ordered a more-expensive drink, you only paid the difference between the price of the drink and the PBP per-drink limit. For that reason, we've always upgraded from the CBP to the PBP. Is this incorrect? What has been your personal experience on this issue? Thanks in advance!

  3. Thanks for your review, Roadster. We'll be on the Eclipse Sept 1 for a Hubbard Glacier cruise. On our past Celebrity Alaska cruises, the fabulous Brent Nixon did daily presentations on Alaska and various species of Alaskan wildlife. These lectures absolutely "made" the trip. Brent is not on the Eclipse this season ... do you recall whether there was another naturalist or lecturer on board your cruise who did similar presentations? Thanks in advance.

  4. My group would like to get over to Herring Cove to (hopefully) see some bears while we're in Ketchikan on Sept. 6 (our ship is in port 2pm-8:30pm). What are our options? We prefer NOT to do an organized tour,  just find a way to and from. Depending on who from our group goes with us, we'll have anywhere from 4-14 people, most likely. Thanks in advance!

  5. My group of four from the Celebrity Solstice will be in Skagway on Sept. 1 from 7a to 6p. We'd like to do a bear tour and are eyeing either Eco Orca's Chilkoot Lake Nature Tour & Bear Watching Adventure (catamaran trip to Haines for the bear-watching portion), or Rainbow Glacier Adventure's similar tour.

Does anyone have feedback on either, or suggestions for an alternative? We are already doing an expensive flight excursion in Juneau (dog sledding on glacier) so can't afford to do a float plan to one of the prime bear-watching spots in Ketchikan.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hubby and I will be sailing on Solstice later this summer. Today I received notification from Celebrity that passengers should board during pre-designated time periods, based on our cabin's deck number.

Is this something new? Our last Celebrity cruise was in October, and nothing was said about it then. This will be our seventh Celebrity cruise and we've always just shown up sometime after 10:30 a.m. and been allowed on board as soon as we made it through the lines.

Would love to hear the scoop. Thanks in advance.
