  1. My family is booking a row of balconies across the aft of the Breeze - 6476, 6507, 6505, 6503 and 6501.

How do I know which balconies have the dividers that are able to be opened? Any Idea how many we will be allowed to open? We'd love to have our own giant balcony that we can all enjoy but opening the dividers is new to me.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  2. Thanks Cruiser Fanatic!

I guess I should have mentioned that my in-laws (we like them ;) ) are in 6501 and grandma is in one of the insides near them so we're set on 6. I don't love that our view will be of the people on deck 5 though. :(

We will have a one year old on his/her first cruise so being close to family is a big plus for us.

Thans so much for your input though! :D

  3. Hello!

We are getting ready to book the Breeze for September 2016 and I'm so torn on which cabin to get. My husband and I are sailing with the whole family and want to get a room next to one of our cousins and her husband and hopefully open the balcony divider.

We are trying to decide between 6448 and 6460 for $2,432 or 6503 and 6505 for $2,582 - the cost is a minimal difference so it does't really factor in.

6448 and 6460 look longer but 6503 and 6505 look deeper.

We have sailed in 6499 before and know all about the different layout and lack of couch and those things don't really matter to me.

How do I know if we are able to open the balcony divider? I know only so many per ship can be opened but does they type of balcony matter?

How can I find out the square footage of the balconies/rooms? Neither are the typical balcony rooms.

Thanks in advance for your help! Cousin and her husband had their honeymoon on the ebola cruise last year  so we are trying hard to get him to love cruising!!

  4. I've only done the steakhouse once on our very first cruise and plan on doing it again this upcoming April. My understanding is they do not limit your starters or sides but you are allowed to order one entree which if they are anything like they they were in 2008 you really couldn't eat more than one! If you're on the fence about it they usually do a tasting thing on embarkation day and you can watch cooking demonstrations and sample some great food.

If you are worried about not liking something I would't be - my cousin ordered the fish entree and did not care for it and we had the server, maitre'd and chef come out to see if they could get her something else. It wasn't a big deal she just tried something new and didn't care for it. The ongoing joke was that the captain would be out to check on her next - they were so attentive and so concerned that she didn't like her meal.

We have done Cucina three times and LOVE it. The price is very reasonable and the atmosphere is fun. The food was excellent and the portions are HUGE. Definitely try it you will love it!!

  5. I've never rented a cabana at Mahogany Bay but I have several times at HMC. Once we had 8 people, once we had 7. It was no problem at all. The chairlift wasn't an issue at HMC but I believe the shore excursions desk said it would be $50 per extra adult which I didn't understand the reasoning behind so we just booked for four and honestly we were in and out of the cabana all day and nobody with Carnival seemed to care.

  6. Maybe not themed but the lunch main buffet will have a special cuisine every day.

There will always be a salad bar, pizza station and depending on your ship - Guys burgers, Cucina, deli, Mongolian wok, etc - but there is a buffet line that changes daily and offer caribbean one day, french one day, Italian one day and I think they do an American or southern comfort buffet.

  7. I'm pretty sure there is no fee to add a 3rd and 4th passenger you just want to make sure you select a cabin that can accommodate 4 - not all have the drop down beds. I don't think an addition counts as a change.

My husband and I will be booking our 2016 cruise while on the Sunshine next month and I had a lengthy conversation with my PVP about adding a third passenger (due in September - no name or birthday yet so we can't actually book for him/her for a while). My PVP said she would help us select a room that will accommodate three before we leave. ;)

Keep an eye on prices - when we sailed the pride it was the same price for my sister to book her kids in their own inside as it was to have them as 3rd and 4th in her balcony room. The Pride also happens to have a balcony room in the very front that connects to an inside.

(...and i'm sure i'll get yelled at for this but if you book one adult and one kid in a room then only that one adult has to buy the cheers package instead of both spouses. We found this out last year and it worked out well because my sister does't really drink.)

  8. 1. They will pour you a glass of soda with ice each time - as far as i know there is no need to wait in-between sodas so say if you have a 24 oz travel mug it will not be an issue to get enough soda to fill it but they typically will not give you a can.

    2. The menu will be posted outside of the MDR as well as on your TV every day.

    3. Never tried Princess but we've always enjoyed the steak house!

    4. I believe we went to guest services as soon as we got on to reserve a spot. We did this last April on the Splendor and it was awesome.

    5. Yes! Every one we have ever been in did.

    6. Not sure - I'm usually too full from late dinner to even think about it.

    Have a great time!!!

  9. We did just the manatees a few years ago and it was AWESOME!!! Don't forget that it also includes admission to Chakanaab so you get the sea lion show, access to the beach and snorkeling. We brought our own snorkeling stuff but I think it was an extra $15 +/- to rent the equipment. They also have plenty of beach chairs and drinks available for purchase. It's really an all day experience.

I would not hesitate to book it even my 70+ grandmother did it and loved it as did my 20 year old cousin.

We are actually thinking about booking it again for our April cruise. I prefer it over the dolphins I felt like we got more time interacting with the manatees.

  10. We LOVE the Breeze too! I just don't think any other Carnival ship even compares. We decided to try the Sunshine this year, though some of the reviews on here have me nervous, but we will be back on the Breeze next year with a different itinerary. It will be the third time my in-laws are sailing her and we're not usually a group that repeats ships.

I was big on trying a new ship every time and last year I had my first repeat on the Splendor and it was great! I still had a great time!!

  11. We were excited for the Vista being out of NY too, we did the Splendor last April and loved being able to drive to the port, however when you pull up the dates there is really only one sailing on the Vista from NY and it's an 11 day and starts in NY and ends in Miami. :( Then she's in Miami for the forseeable future.

  12. I've sailed on both recently Splendor out of NYC in 2014 and the Pride out of Baltimore in 2013. The Splendor was also the first cruise I had ever been on back in 2008 and the only ship I've ever done more than once.

Overall I prefer the Splendor but I tend to like the larger ships. The Pride was a little too small feeling for me and a little worn down but I think she may have had a dry dock since I've sailed.

Both had similar itineraries as they were both from the East coast. We definitely had a little more fun going out of NYC - we stayed in Times Square the night before and really used every second of time we had in the city, that being said, it was MUCH MUCH more expensive than doing an overnight in Baltimore. Being from Pittsburgh, both ports are great because we don't have to fly but the parking in NY was so expensive that it was almost as expensive as flying. We took the Megabus to NY which I cannot say I'd do again any time soon. The drive to Baltimore was easy the hotel we stayed at the night before had a cruise package that included transportation to and from the port and parking for the duration of the cruise for a very reasonable price. We also did dinner at the inner harbor which was a ton of fun!

  13. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. We we're (im)patiently waiting for the May 2015 sail dates for the Breeze.

It's worth the wait! We LOVED the Breeze soooo much! We're doing the Sunshine for sure but they have an 8 day that goes to Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk this May that I'm hoping might show up for May 2015 also. If not we're going to go for the April 18th Eastern.

I just want to wait until May 2015 comes our before I suggest the Eastern itinerary to the rest of the family. :D
