  1. I need your help...I did some research but did not find this exact scenario. I know that I can switch rooms once onboard, but here is the situation. My best friend and I both received Carnival Players Club offers. Each offers the 'free drinks on us' but hers also offers a significant onboard credit (mine very minimal). Her onboard credit must be split between two persons in the cabin and she is okay with me getting the credit. My son and 5 year old grandson are also traveling, but my son did not get the discount/offer.  So, I want to book my son and I in one cabin so he gets the discount and  my friend and my grandson in the other cabin. When we get on the ship, I want to switch rooms so that my friend and I are in the same cabin and my son and grandson are in the other. Will the 'drinks on us' follow me? Or, is it assigned to the 'player' and not the room? Once the swap is made, will I get half my friend's higher on-board credit or will it follow my grandson? Also, what will happen to my smaller on-board credit? I am okay if my son or grandson get it. Bottom line: How can I get the best of both worlds..........the 'drinks on us' and the higher onboard credit?

  2. Yes we avoid the "cookie cutter" tours so we did quite a bit more research for this port. La Romana turned out to be one of our most memorable days in our 17 years of traveling the Caribbean - by sea or by land! We even returned for a two-week stay a year later to enjoy more of the natural beauty of the area and the wonderful people.

Can you tell me what made La Romana your most memorable trip in the Caribbean?

  3. We did the 4 hour option of the tour but you can do longer if you wish. It's 25.00 each addtl hour over 3.

No, we did not have him wait for us. We were only there maybe an hour to swim and hang out, and then picked up a taxi right there. (there is a taxi line waiting for you outside). Taxi was 16.00 total for all 3 of us to get back to ship.

    Thanks for the info!

  4. We hired a driver for a day on our cruise this past Thursday. We had Leo and he was great! Our 13 year old daughter wanted to learn some Spanish so he taught her a few things to say. He took us to the chocolate factory, to a pharmacy for bug spray (Mosquitos are bad), to botanical gardens, to San gervasio ruins, to playa Bonita for lunch, and dropped us off at beach mr sanchos for swimming before going back to ship. All during the drive he told us history and he was so knowledgeable and gracious!!! I highly recommend them to anyone!!!

I am considering hiring driver for the day and doing similar stops. How long did your entire tour take? Also, did he wait for you at Mr. Sanchos, if so how long were you there? If you took a cab back, how much did that cost?

  5. I am also hair challenged in that it is severely damaged. I wore sewn in weaves for years now I wear wigs. They are so easy..........just shake, slip on, and go.

Anyway on past water based vacations I have worn a sewn in wet and wavy weave and it worked great. Last cruise I took two identical synthetic wigs. The texture was similar to the wet and wavy but I liked it better than the human hair because it was easier to manage, curls stayed in place (wet or dry), dried quickly, needed very little product, maintenance, etc. If the wig from earlier in the day was not dry by dinner, I just slipped on the spare wig and continued to swap between the two throughout the trip.

Word of caution: attach securely! I am not a great swimmer, but did swin in the ocean and pool wearing a wig with no issues. Snorkeling (getting the mask on/off) without incident was another story :D. So this year, I am already investigating the possibility of a lace wig just not sure I want to deal with the glue, but would be comfortable swimming in a regular wig as long as I did not snorkle.
