has anyone received any compensation from insurance or EC 261?  Still waiting.............

We were cancelled as well.  Had insurance.  Never heard any alternative flights from HAL.  Received a letter in our stateroom stating basically you can wait and HAL will rebook you or you can schedule something yourself and seek reimbursement.  Form was also included.  Guest services found and booked our flights.   Spotty wi-fi and only cell phones made it difficult to book.  Grateful for the assistance (after waiting 2+ hours in line with another 50 people).   Now we are filing with insurance first then HAL will review if anything remaining.  We did fly business class one leg.  Any next day flights are HUGE $$.  I hope we don't run into issues.  I needed to return to work or we could have just hung out in the hotel and waiting for HAL Seattle to rebook us.  Poor communication on HALs part.  They boast 24 hour support yet there was nobody working when this all got cancelled.  Guest services couldn't even contact them.  Bad ending to a great trip.

I heard about it yesterday from the newspaper article.  We will be notified by HAL tomorrow via their email.

Official news from our travel agent to tell us.  HAL will release their statement tomorrow.  Don't even have the nerve to tell us directly.  Tell the agents to disperse the news.  Nice.  Preference to take their (gracious) government money over paying customers too.  Noted Hal.   We are NOT going with the cruise the are rolling us to.  Nothing close.  Norway.  Thanks but been there.  No longer brand loyal.

Appears from today's newspaper, the Voldendam will extend their housing.

That is what responsible alderman Vincent Karrenmans says.    There was already an option to extend the lease.  There were two other options but "because these quotes were well above the amount of HAL's extension option in terms of price per day, we decided to opt for HAL".

Hopefully that means HAL will cancel our Sept 27th cruise before final payment is due on Wednesday.  Don't want to give them more money for a cruise that is not sailing.

More interesting is it looks like Quantas won’t be flying international until maybe 2021.

Regarding my original post. The question remains. Will HAL join with Carnival and cease operations through September 30th? Only time and HAL can answer for sure.

It doesn't make a lot of difference.  HAL has already cancelled nearly all of their September cruises.  There are very few left - one or two, I believe.

 
Most of all of HAL’s sailings have been cancelled in September.  There are only a very few left.  I think you are on the Oosterdam and to the best of my knowledge, I don’t think that one has been cancelled - yet.

The association article says through September 15.  Where did you read through September?

We are booked for South Pacific departing sept 27th. I hope they don’t wait till the 15th to extend again. No more FCC. Too risky. I’m with going like the canary in a coal mine or bailing out.

I poked around here before going. We just returned home and I'm in withdrawl....WMCC withdrawl. I found the recipe here and will try it tomorrow. I had it each and everday! OHHHHH so good.:D
