  1.

This was a review recently posted on the Carnival website for this excursion. Was this any of you who have posted here? If not, this is another person with a similar story. I actually was getting ready to push book on this excursion for next week's cruise, but it seems like there might be an issue.

    Sick from drinks

Overall, we had a fun time. The only reason for 3 stars is that the drinks made my husband and I sick for over a week. The kids ate everything we did, only difference was the drinks. I don't think it was the alcohol in the drinks since they were exremely watered down but maybe the mix they used to make the cocktails. Our tour guides were nice and helpful, no water inflatables like the pictures but did have hammocks in the water. If you decide to go with this excursion, do not drink the alcoholic drinks included in the package!

No, I do not recommend this shore excursion.

  2. My cabins had dropped by over $400 for a Jade sailing from Houston. I was on the phone when my TA called NCL to see if there was anything that could be done (I just really wanted any connecting rooms on the ship). NCL rep was borderline rude and offered nothing at all. Basically, I had an inside room (what I paid) for almost the price of a balcony (current cost). He said there was nothing he could do unless I wanted to pay $800 to upgrade to the balcony. No concession from NCL at all.

  3. It seems like if you purchase the dining package first, then go back in and make reservations, it will not charge you.

For example, I purchased the package for three people.

Then, I went back in and made a reservation for four or six...it did not try to add on fees for the additional folks. (They have dining packages under a different cabin, but the website doesn't know that, since they aren't linked.) Hope this helps someone.

  4. I just got off the phone with NCL. We have two rooms of 3 for our family of 6. It's a pain. I purchased the dining package separately for each room. For Teppanyaki, I had to book for a party of 4 on one reservation while the agent booked for a party of 2 on the other reservation. I thought I could just log into each reservation and book the 4 and then the 2 for the total of 6...and I could as long as I didn't need to change or delete...I couldn't figure out how to change after I had already booked, so the agent had to delete some ressies I had previously booked. She couldn't book 6 at once either, just 4 and 2.

However, I am finding that I can reserve for 6 just on one reservation for any restaurant except Teppanyaki...I assume because of the table size, etc.

I have never sailed before with NCL and didn't realize the process is cumbersome for more than one room. BUT, the agent did help me secure the reservations I wanted. :)

  5. Sorry; we will be on Carnival Inspiration arriving in Long Beach at 7am. We are flying out of LAX like the original poster. I bought Faster to the Fun, and we will take a taxi and carry our own luggage.

Our flight leaves at 11:45am. Going to hope for the best.

This is the Carnival recommendations, so I am hoping that the 7am arrival means I could make it. I realize that there might be weather or traffic impacts.

  6. In September, we went in a small group from Montego Bay. The cost was $30/pp transportation and no entrance fee. You were expected (and wanted) to tip the guides, as they were a great help.

We are planning on going with a cruise group from Ocho Rios in a couple of weeks, and we were also quoted a $15/pp entrance fee and a total cost around $70/pp.

I'm not sure about the entrance fee thing...there definitely was not one in September, but it wasn't an "organized" group. Maybe they only charge "tour" groups. I'm not sure, but it is confusing.
