  1. After trying to search for the answer on the forum (the iPad app isn't quite up to par with that function) - how do the servers make their money now that most people buy the beverage package? When they swipe your card does it go into some from of tally and they get paid at the end?

In the past, we brought A LOT of ones to encourage consistent service at the pool when competing with those paying by the drink (worked like a charm) and honestly I felt bad because they weren't getting the automatic gratuity from me. But now that RC is "forcing" me to buy the deluxe pkg when I previously only bought the beer and wine one - I feel a little stingy about throwing around more money for my drinks - but I guess maybe I'll just have to figure out if I'm willing to give up the quick service.

Not to say it will make or break my cruise - We leave on the Jewel tomorrow - and will have a great time no matter what. Just curious is all.

  2. That's my biggest complaint about these boards. I used to read every thread that I found but now only read ones if I have I specific question or the subject strikes my eye. Because I found that last year I was honestly not looking forward to my cruise after reading different threads - which is ludicrous because I love to cruise and have never once had a bad experience with the cruiseline, ship or staff. Life's too short to be brought down by the whiners and complainers. We have the Adventure booked in 2017 and part of our group are first timers, and all the naysayers make me hesitant to refer them to this board as I don't want them to have a negative opinion before experiencing it themselves. And now I feel better for venting!!

I hope everyone enjoys their cruises!!!

  3. I have searched a little on the threads but still haven't found a concrete answer. What are the beer alternatives that are consistently served throughout the ship (I don't do beer)? In my previous cruises - most recently in Feb 2014 - really my only option was Smirnoff Ice - which is fine but I have recently read about some hard ciders being available - but am confused if it's only at the English Pub - which I have never been to - I'd love to drink them poolside where I spend most of my time [emoji6]. Not sure if it matters but I will be on the Navigator in 9 days. It won't make or break my cruise - just curious is all.

  4. I have tried searching the threads but have been unable to find my answer (probably operator error). Are the pool chairs reserved for suite guests located by the stairs adjacent to the pool bar like they were on the Adventure when I cruised in 2013? Or are they up by the Sky Bar like they were on the Freedom now that the Navigator has been renovated.

  5. Normally, I wouldn't post a question like this, I would try and find it searching the forum, but since that is not an option, here goes nothing.

On our prior cruise on the Adventure, the reserved lounge chairs in the pool area were along the sides as you went up the stairs by the bar. I recently received an email from our concierge as we are about to board the Freedom on Sunday, and it said that they are now only Deck 13 in the area above the Sky Bar. When did that change?

    Thanks for any input.

  6. The smuggling of booze is best summed up by the fact that the people who do smuggle are just TOO DAMN CHEAP!You can justify it all you want but that is the bottom line!

Hmmm. I dispute this since our bar bill at the end of trip (with 2 bottles taken on every cruise) is usually high anyways (and we have concierge access too). It's not about being cheap - it more of a convenience factor. We just enjoy a few drinks on the balcony or while getting ready for dinner.

So please refrain from making judgements, we will all be better off enjoying our vacations as we each please.
