  1. Hilton Riverside all the way! We are staying there for a 2nd time this coming December. Also, don't let them fool you that you can't get to the terminal without taking a cab, they are WRONG. If you roll your bags through the outlet mall, you go through the food court, out the doors, and are left with 2 flights of stairs to walk down and you are there. If you are able to walk and carry your bags, you are set. There is also a streetcar stop right in front of the hilton and you can take it down the river towards Cafe du Monde and are right in the French Quarter and walking distance to everything. You can also walk as well as it is about a mile or a little less.

    Enjoy!

  2. I think I am going to buy $800 worth and save $80 on the cheers program.

If what I am reading from Carnival is correct "To purchase Cheers or Bottomless Bubbles, please call 1-800-845-2599 if you would like to use a Carnival Gift Card to purchase Cheers or Bottomless " I can call them and buy cheers with gift cards.

Great call.... I might be buying extras!!!

  3. I definitely diet hardcore before my cruises. I know that with all the booze and what not, gaining 7-12lbs is done rather easily. I workout hard beforehand so I don't have to worry about working out on the boat.... As good as my intentions are, when I get on the boat, the LAST place I want to be is the gym!

  4. Are there any stores near the port to buy water/pop/wine??? We usually fly in 1 day before and buy all of our goodies, but we are flying in morning of. Would need to be walking distance as we are getting dropped off from the airport. 3 kids plus suite cases, so it needs to be close!

    TIA!

  5. Sue,

The deposit does go towards the port fees & taxes. As long as you hold your ground, you will walk out the door without paying a single cent. The presentation isn't *that bad,* its the pressure game afterwards. Also, I've read the room has bunk beds, but you can pay to upgrade. Hope this helps. We should be receiving the call from them in a couple of weeks telling us which of our days have been chosen (takes about 3 months). Hope this helps.

  6. Great Review!!! Kind of disappointed to see that Maya Key (Previously known as Fins n Flippers) is now 100% cruise excursion customers. I was there 2.5 years ago under the Fins n Flippers name and they only allowed 50 people in per day. What a relaxing day this was. Now that you say more people are definitely there, I think it takes away from the "hidden gem" that it was. I am assuming the new owners are generating a lot more profit nowadays so good for them.

Glad you had a great time.
