Okay, I just need a vent here.

Because at least I'm venting somewhere people will get it.

I get that this is a serious disease and I'm not minimizing that..but I honestly feel like my current odds going on a cruise support me a) not catching it at all and b) at my age and health, very likely to recover after feeling pretty crappy for awhile.

That said..my internal struggle on whether or not to cancel is based ENTIRELY on all the craziness.  I'm now worried my work is going to come up with a 2 week quarantine when I return because unfortunately they knew what my time off was booked for before all this went down.  They haven't mentioned anything yet, but I'm in Wyoming and we so far have no cases.  I'm seeing all over that workplaces are doing that..most without pay.  I've cautioned my travel mates not to talk about it and feel like social media posts of "look at our cool trip" are probably a bad idea.  Someone in my roll call posted about a friend who is getting backlash in their community on their return that they should have to be quarantined.  This is all.  just.  nuts.  It's so unfair that the only large group activity getting actually TESTED when someone gets ill seems to be the cruise lines.  I am 100% convinced there are SO many undiagnosed cases already out there..completely unrelated to cruising.  Hell, I have a strong gut feeling someone I know had it when they returned from a recent trip (they're fine, btw).

Stay away from Youtube, where the general public can comment on corona as related to cruising.  We're all a bunch of complete idiots for considering it, and this illness is entirely the fault of cruiselines.  Someone suggested anyone returning from a cruise right now should be put in prison for their quarantine.

Scared of getting sick?  Nope.  Scared of the hysteria of our neighbors at home?  Starting to get kinda worried.  Normally I wouldn't give a damn what anyone thought of what I do with my time..but this could have actual consequences.

Still waiting to see what happens.  /end rant.

I understand that you aren’t afraid of the virus, but do you have older grandparents or parents? Please be mindful when you return to stay away from older folks.

My daughter and  a son inlaw work in hospitals in CT and. y. There are no tents.

Sorry, GBMC, in Maryland. My friend’s husband is the medical director of geriatric medicine dept. He was told that he can’t travel more than 50 miles away until further notice.
Blessings of health to all cruising soon.

  3. WHO (World Health Organization) just declared Coronavirus a pandemic.

Hospitals are putting up treatment tents outside to deal with the incoming  patients. Our health care system cannot handle what is about to happen. Respirators will be rationed to those who have a better chance of survival.

All cruise lines should just cancel cruises for the next couple of months.

  4. Let's say you brought 1 bottle of wine with you when you checked in. Then you decide after lunch to exit the ship and check out San Juan some more. When you return to the ship, you have a new bottle of wine in your backpack/purse...will the staff know you already brought one on earlier or can I say this is my 1 freebie?

I've read that in the past you could get away with it when going down some hallway between checkpoints. Would I have a better chance getting a 2nd one on if it was a port in a smaller bottle? :)

We did. Got off and back on several times. The port has a wine shop. We ended up with a case of wine for 5 people.

  5. We’ve sailed from Baltimore several times. The Pride was our first from there, and last year we sailed on RCI to Bermuda. Great port-easy to park and get right on.

We also sailed from Norfolk on Holland for 10 and 11 day Southern Caribbean ports. For the past few years, we’ve sailed on the Sunshine from Norfolk. We like Norfolk because we can park for free at my husbands office and walk right down the street to the ship. We can take our dog to the kennel that morning, so it saves money for us. Plus it’s so fun to sail out from our own city.

  6. We have sailed in spa cabins on Sunshine. We have another booked on the new Sunrise. I absolutely love these cabins for the quiet hallway, location near the thermal suites, and the Serenity deck. The steam rooms and sauna are worth every penny and no one was ever in them except for us in the evening.
