  1. Hampton Inn Midtown Miami

Stayed there last October for 4 nights and can't wait to return next year.

Close to the shops at Midown, restaurants etc

Quite a fairly new hotel so fresh and clean.

It only took around 10 minuets to get to the port

  2. Last October, after 18 months of research, we stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Midtown Miami. Fantastic relevantly new hotel, very welcoming staff. Close to many places to eat and shops at Midtown is just behind the hotel.

We used the hotels shuttle to the port which I think was $7 pp and only took 10 mins

  3. We just stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Midtown Miami, they have rooms that sleep 6, a nice pool area and the hotel is still pretty new.

We used their shuttle to the put $7 pp and I think they had reduced children prices, took about 10 mins to get to the port.

From the airport again it took about 10-15 mins, a taxi cost $38 buy Uber would have cheaper.

Around the hotel there is Mcdonalds, Denny's, Wendy's and Taco Bell and shopping behind the hotel about 5 mins walk

  4. Hi there

Yes we stayed 23rd-27th October and absolutely loved the place.

Staff are so welcoming and nice, the hotel itself is pretty new so the whole place feels fresh.

Right across the street there is a 7 eleven where we got our water and pop from. Food wise there is Apollo chicken, Mcdonalds, Taco, Denny's and Wendy's. Behind the hotel about a 5 min walk there was the shops at Midtown that included Target. Plus more upscale restaurants and bars.

We (2 women) felt very safe walking around and when we ordered Uber we never waited more than 2 minuets.

The hotel also do a shuttle to the port for $7 pp at 930, 1030, 1130 and 1230

I will definitely be booking this place again

  5. We're booked to stay at Hampton Inn Midtown Miami for a couple of nights. I haven't seen many comments for Midtown but after researching it looks a good spot. Plenty of restaurants and bars around plus the shops at Midtown a few blocks away. The airport is about 15 mins away while the port is 5-10 mins away

I had problems with the website accepting my Mastercard and tried multiple times (it said it wasn't processed but a temporary pending transaction did appear each time), there was an option of PayPal as a payment option for clearing my balance on the site which I ended up using to pay with the same card & it worked, although the exchange rate wasn't quite as good as the pending charges had been the same morning.

That card wouldn't work for funshops or excursions either & I just used my debit card in the end as those didn't have a PayPal option.

    Hi

Thank you. Yes Carnival website says payment declined but payment pends for a short while on the app. Like I mentioned I used the same card a few times and all was fine. I have tried to purchase cruise credit through the funshop but the card deosn't work there neither now.

I'll have a look at the Paypal option

    Thanks

  7. Hi there

I'm in the UK and will be cruising in October. I got myself a pre loaded multi currency credit card so I can pay easier and save on international fee's.

I have made 5 payments with this card for excursions and bubbles package, all payments went through straight away with no problems.

For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to pay some of my balance off. The payment shows on my app as "pending" but within 30 minuets it gets reverted. I can only speak to the card issuers through the app so can get a little frustrating. After re-setting the card etc they now say the problem lays with Carnival, they say Carnival are applying for the money but not claiming it!! I have spoken with Carnival twice, each time they tried to take payment over the phone but the same problem happens. They say they haven't heard of this problem and have confirmed they do still take my type of card.

I have brought a day bus ticket for Miami online to see if the problem is with the card and paying $ but that all went through fine.

I know it's a long shot but has anybody had any similar issues??

    Thanks

  8. I have been looking into this myself for after my cruise. I'm thinking I may just get a day room at a hotel near a mall so we have options of shopping, grabbing some food and swimming. This may also so sound sad but I'm looking at a hotel with a laundry, after a over night transatlantic and work the next day after landing I don't want to spend the day at home doing the washing :)

  9. I guess that is when you know you have made it ... you get haters coming out of the woodwork. (and Brits)

If you don't like them then don't watch them but why people find it necessary to go off on long tirades and bash them is beyond me. Live and let live is what I say.

I'm not sure why you have the need to bash others for an opinion, these people put their lives out for all to view, they are not going to be every bodies cup of tea.

I would be careful, you may start to lose the tinsel out of your pom poms if you shake them any harder

  10. I have watched all the Sea cruisers videos, when I started watching them I thought they were great, but more and more things started to bug me.

The amount of food they order then waste is unjustifiable, why order the same dishes each, have one bite then waste them. Why not share the dishes if they know they are only ordering just for a taste

The plugging for Tips is just getting too much now, yes Amy spends a lot of time doing them but as she says she enjoys doing it, so please stop begging for tips.

Their content is becoming a little repetitive, maybe because they do the same itineraries, so their latest trip should be more interesting but i'm guessing that will be a while away before they upload it.

At the moment I'm loving Josh Hocum, he covers a lot of items including the traveling to ports, local pre/post cruise stays and is a pretty funny guy, love his Moms input. He would make a great CD one day

  11. I have been looking at an apartment option. The Doubletree Grand has various room options but also has 3 bed 3 BR with large balcony overlooking the bay. These can be found on AirB&B etc sites, I'm in the UK but they are also on hotels sites.

Shopping mall within the complex and other options for food close by

  12. While I was on the Freedom last month I decided to take a trip to the next booking office after seeing numerous adverts for reduced deposit, special fares and OBC. Low and behold because I'm from the UK it would be booked in UK T&C's which meant no lower deposit, no special fare and a lot less OBC. So for the same cruise I would be paying more with less benefits than somebody from the US.

But rather than booking it then moaning later I decided there and then not to book it. I found it unfair as no where on the advert in the Compass or on ALL those flyers they kept leaving in the room did it say "For US citizens only"

Oh I did double check that I was hearing right and the lady did actually say its because you reside in the UK

So OP please don't get so mad at this change, I believe you still get a much better deal especially when you can get price drops, imagine the feeling of seeing your cruise fare drop over £300 per cabin and there is jack all you can do about it

  13. I'm/was a very much loyal to Royal but after our cruise last month on the Freedom I have decided to jump ship ;)

We last did a Caribbean sailing a few years ago, with coming from the UK its big bucks and takes us a couple of years to save for each one, but with all the cut backs it left a big sour taste in the month.

I know I want the Seaside, I know the cabin I want, I know the date I want....I just need to be patient and wait for the bookings to open, buts its killing me waiting :D

  14. Hi All

We are coming into MIA from London in April, does anybody have any experience of the immigration clearance and a rough guidance on the time it will take to get through.

Our pre-night cruise stay is in FLL and we are arranging our airport transfers, there are 7 of in total so looking at a private shuttle, but we are not sure what time to put as a pick up time on the inquiry form. Obviously we don't want the driver having to wait for us

    Thanks

  15. I got a reply from mbayley@rcl.coms saying

We are in receipt of your e-mail to the Executive Office of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. Your e-mail has been directed to my attention, and I welcome this opportunity to respond on Mr. Bayley's behalf.

Your concerns are currently being reviewed, and you will be contacted within the next few days for assistance.

I had the same exact reply to a complaint I put in last week, that reply came Thursday and still nothing.....
