Anyone Cruise at Christmas before with kids that Santa still visits?

We will be on a Christmas cruise with our two boys ages 8 & 9. Santa still comes to see them. How do we handle gifts? Do we pack them in a separate luggage? Can you check a big box of wrapped gifts?

Do we have the room steward put them out at supper on Christmas Eve? Breakfast Christmas morning? or do they get put out overnight?

Does Santa make an appearance on the ship for kids to visit with him?

We just booked our first back to back. We will be on Carnival Breeze at Christmas.

Can anyone tell me exactly how a back to back works? I understand you get off the ship. What do you do when you get off? How long does it take? I assume you don't have to take any of your luggage off? Do you need to take documents for second cruise? Or do you check in for both the first time?

Any hints/suggestions on how much to pack? Do you usually just pack lite & do laundry on board?
