  1. Not all Vancouver departures travel that way. There are quite a few ships out of Vancouver that also travel west of Vancouver Island. I've personally seen Princess, Royal, and Celebrity ships all going west of Vancouver Island out of Vancouver. The Solstice in particular is too tall to get under the cables at Seymour Narrows, so the Solstice can never travel the portion of the inside passage between Vancouver Island and mainland BC.

Not true just returned from the Solstice and yes it did go thru the East side of Vancouver Island.

  2. We were in line for a cab and that was a long line! Glad I looked over at the shuttle area and saw this brand new shiny black suv, looked at the driver and saw him show 5 fingers and I said 50, yup that was the best $50 I spent. Was at airport by 9:30. I bet we would have waited 1 hr in that taxi line. Great cruise Blu was awesome! Never went too buffet, hate lines.Drink package was funny, had the free classic but several bars were confused about what beer you could get.

  3. Am I the only one that uses priceline when needing a pre-cruise hotel stay. You can save tons and get a really nice hotel in a good location. I just got the 4 seasons in Vancouver for 2 nights $126 per night on priceline in May.

  4. My wife also has MS and uses a manual wheelchair. When in Juneau we used Captain Larry for whale watching his boat is accessible for a wheelchair. Also in the past we have done both glacier landing (Juneau) with helicopter and a float plane in Ketchican. All these were with private vendors that help us carry wife into aircraft. They were excellent and more than happy to help. I will try and look up/remember names if you want.

  5. Was just there in April on Celebrity Solstice. We took the bus to Whalers Village and took a right on the beach walk. We walked a short distance and found clam shell/beach chair rentals. $18 for 2hrs. We used the hotel restrooms, and visited the tiki bar as well. I believe it was Ka'anapali beach hotel. We used their restrooms to change clothes for evening luau.

  6. Not too wise to post stuff like this - Celebrity reads these boards and the policy may be more strictly enforced from now on:rolleyes::D

Do you think they believe everything they read..Come on, I have better things to worry about than what I posted or what Celebrity reads on these boards.

  7. Just off the Hawaii to Vancouver and had 500 elites and higher, they used the sky lounge every night, We did get vouchers for the our 2nd night because of sail away and life boat drill. We used our vouchers up in the Sunset bar and order anything we wanted. We told them we were using vouchers and they just smiled. The bar tender got us everything to include a few unopened beers for the room. I didn't even ask, he just handed them to me with caps still on.

  8. Conversely...for those of us that are elite....it seems foolish to purchase a beverage package when you are awarded so many "free drinks" already.

Just off the 10 night Hawaii to Vancouver trip and while we didn't get the beverage package because of the elite free drinks, we found ourselves changing our schedule to attend the happy hour which we had a great time with new friends. We missed a few activities because it conflicted with the happy hour. We did take the free drink package while booking on board for our next cruise, as we won't feel we "have" to go to the happy hour.

  9. I asked why the ship did not go through the inside passage and instead went west around Vancouver Island. Guest Relations said the ship is too big and will never do the inside passage. I was disappointed to hear that as we had friends on board who were really looking forward to seeing this beautiful part of Vancouver island/Mainland BC.

That stinks, I booked Solstice for May 2015 out of Vancouver thinking it would go thru the inside heading north. This is the only sailing out of Vancouver and while its early in May I might have to swap it with the Infinity. Thanks for the update.

  10. "Although we were expecting to go north up the Inside Passage, we did not, and went up the west side of Vancouver Island. The water was a little choppy in the morning, and I had to resort to Bonine to keep me on an even keel in the morning. The sea was like glass yesterday."

I thought most inside passages departing from Vancouver sailed to the east of Vancouver island? I am booked for this trip next May on Solstice mainly for that reason out of Vancouver. I do see this years 1st stop is Tracy Arm while next year is Ketchikan, so maybe with the greater distance needed to be traveled is the reason you went out to "sea".
