  1. The Iguana farm and the orphanage are on opposite sides of the island. Not sure what else you crammed into your $25 tour, but it already seems to me that you were probably asking alot. If all you wanted to do was go to the orphanage/school, your friends wanted to see the iguanas, and the monkeys at Victor's house were part of your request, then that's a whopping 2 hour tour. What did you ask them to do for the other 3 hours??

Didn't your friends have to wait in the heat while you were at the orphanage? You say they weren't interested in the orphanage, so it seems to me that you should have found someone with the same itinerary/interests as you, with whom to book your tour.

That's just mean. Victor's house is humble....very humble and probably lacks all the necessities you've got back home. You know, air-conditioning, hot tub, in-ground pool, washer and dryer...necessities. He's poor and so is Honduras. Don't be so mean-spirited....

When we were there (Nov. '07), there were 4 monkeys...

My dog bites and I tell guests all the time to be careful around him....

The one woman only speaks 10 words of english. It was either Victor's wife or his mother, but either way, she doesn't deserve to be called "unfriendly" when she doesn't speak your language (or when she doesn't speak it well). "When in Rome..."?? Both of them were perfectly friendly with me, when I spoke to them in Spanish...;) By the way, the $2 part was right on the booking form....

That's unfortunate, because I would HIGHLY reccomend Victor's tour. See my next post for why and a reccomendation for our guide, Roland....

I couldn't have said it better! You are 100% right.

  2. I have booked Victor for our cruise in March. We're planning on doing the ziplines, touring the area, and going to his house to see the animals. Though most posts on this board RAVE about Victor and his guides, I have read one post saying they did not like the tour guide they had.

If you used Victor, did you love the guide? If so, who did you have? & finally, does anyone know if you can ask for a particular person?

We had the same itinerary in mind as you and did everything we wanted with plenty of time. I would suggest ziplining first to avoid crowds like we did (we were the first to arrive to the Jungle Canopy Tour).

ALI was our tour guide in the summer of 2006 and we had a terrific time. Ali was an awesome tour guide, an island native, and very happy to talk about the people and culture of the island. He tailored our time on the island to what we wanted to do. The whole Bodden company is exceptional. We would definitely book again.

  3. Steven, we were on the Conquest in November and was thrilled not only with the ship and the crew, but also with the excursions that we booked. We booked via a private company (pm and I will give you thier name) except for Sandals (MBJ) which was exceptional and I highly recommend this excursion. You can book it on your own once you arrive in MBJ, but we did not want to take a chance with time restraints.

We booked the waverunner in the Grand Caymans and it was breathtaking. My dh and I along with a small party of 6 accompanied by a tour guide road 7 miles to Stingray City, were we handled the stingrays and then we road another 4-5 miles to the barrier reef where everyone went snorkeling. Of all our cruises this was by far the best according to dh.

We have great pics if you are interested.

    HTH :D

Terrific! I am really glad to hear you had a great experience. I would love to see the pics and get any personal recommendations you have from you. We will be booking excursions and planning details of our cruise in the coming months!!! Thank you!

  4. I did book a guarantee rate, one of the cheapest. Our only week available was our kids spring break (the week of 3/16) and of course, this is the most expensive week for anything that I saw with Carnival Conquest! My logic being a newbie, was that my family and I will sleep in a closet and spend the rest of the time throughout the ship and on excursions - even if that closet is right under the pool and near an elevator! Ain't nothin' going to ruin the smile on my face!!! :D

Okie Steve, looking forward to your review and comments on the Conquest. We are not newbies to cruising, but are new to Carnival and the Conquest and are anxious to find out as much as we can before we sail!

  5. Hi - we are not new to cruising but are new to Carnival.

I've got a quick question about dinner seating. Is there a way my wife and I can request that us and our 2 friends coming along with us sit at a private table for 4? We already got our reservations linked together, but the Carnival rep said the 4 of us might be together at a bigger table. Thanks!!
