  1. Rick,

Just an FYI...if you are turning in your rental car to MIA airport location, there is a complimentary shuttle just outside the car rental counters.

John and I will be debarking Enchantment tomorrow morning and walking over to Navigator. Can't wait to see you onboard!! :D

Kay and John(cruising grandma & cruising granddad)

Thanks, Kay. We are actually returning the car to the Avis Port of Miami shuttle location. They offer a free shuttle to the port as well, but we will most likely get an Uber from the car drop off to the cruise terminal (approx. $12 ride). We did this last month and it was a very smooth process. See you tomorrow!

  3. On Grandeur of the Seas- evening 5. We are rocking ==on way from Bar Harbor to St John, Canada. After a beautiful day Hermine has given us rough seas & rain.

After booking this cruise a year ago- I started reading the many NEGATIVE reviews. I almost looked for another cruise but this fit our schedule the best. I HAVE FOUND NO NEGATIVES .. The shows may not be as grand as the huge newer ships but are entertaining. The piano show performer- tonight had just been on Anthem and 2 more days- he will leave for another ship.

Food in the Windjammer & the Main Dining Room have been more than good.

internet is VERY SLOW- That is a negative. Will write more later.

Uh oh. There can only be one King of the Grandeur. I think you will have to duel it out with York for the crown. Will York enlist the help of the Queen of Dragons or perhaps the many Wildlings that troll Periscope to defend his throne?

  4. 270 & The Music Hall.

Yes. That's it. I could stay in these venues all day long. They were not the only places to go on the ship to hang out, relax, and enjoy your surroundings. They were, however, the best for me. I simply LOVED them!

After nine nights, I think I left a permanent gluteus maximus impression on one of those red stools at the Music Hall bar. What an awesome venue that is so unique to the Quantum class. Looking forward to finding that stool again in six weeks! Although, my favorite bartender, Susie Q, will be ending her contract before I return.

  5. We will be in a JS this Jan please let me know how CK is and a must is the Grand great food there. And thanks for the reports

I was on the same itinerary in June and ate at CK five of the nine nights. Each night was excellent. Take advantage of the seven CK dinner menus that Anthem has. Unlike the Oasis/Allure that only have two menus they cycle through. I skipped the four MDRs, so I cannot comment on Grande, but all reviews from fellow passengers were positive.

  6. We really liked the Coastal Kitchen experience - it was even better than last year on the Anthem. I really like what they did with the Viking Crown space. We ate there twice, and although it was the same menu, it was great each time.

Do you know if there are plans to go to rolling seven day menu at Coastal Kitchen like that being offered currently on the Anthem? If there are only two menus they rotate through on the Allure/Oasis, I may consider buying a dining package as well.

  7. Just curious, when was the last time a Sovereign class ship did a 7 (or more) day cruise for Royal?

    Roy

The Majesty has done and maybe still will do a longer Bahamas cruise for the holidays. If your question is more aimed at when they stopped their weekly 7 day Caribbean runs, I believe (someone will definitely correct me) the Majesty ended with the introduction of the Voyager and Explorer (1998/1999). The Monarch continued her Southern Caribbean run from San Juan until the Adventure was introduced in 2001.

  8. With so many posts about the nostalgia of the "old" days of cruising, I thought I would post a link of this promotional Majesty of the Seas video circa 1995 that I came across. No flowriders, no iFly, no royal promenade, and funny enough no kids (in the video that is). The video definitely does a great job of romanticizing the cruising experience of the early 90s, grant it...not that long ago in the grand scheme of life. I wonder where the cruising industry will be in another 20 years.

    Step into the time capsule.

  9. Those were some very fun sail-a-ways!:):)

And don't forget that while those two ships would sail on Saturdays, Voyager would sail on Sundays. So there was actually parking for three Voyager class ships.

Agreed, I mentioned that in the next sentence. :D ...and the Majesty 3 and 4 night booze cruise crowd (a lot more locals driving to the port).

  10. Don't know if you are being sarcastic, but I believe it when I see it in Grand Cayman. Those tenders make good money, and are not going to give it up this easy..............so I have been told by the locals.

I assume the economy would benefit substantially more for having Allure/Oasis/Harmony roll-up to their shops on a weekly basis. Plus, given the number of ships in the harbor during the high seasons, those tenders will still be in business.
