  1. We have done casino cruises with the DOU and we STILL get Cheers even though we gamble quite a bit.  I'm on vacation, I want to drink what I want, when and where I want, and not have a big bar tab at the end of the cruise.  I always pre-book cheers for the 10% savings as well.

We only get to sail once or at most, twice a year, so it's worth the extra money for cheers to be able to relax and enjoy!

  2. First, you have ten posts to your history and you joined in 2007. Wow.

Now, here's where I and others that will follow want to jump all over your son for his behavior. This wasn't a one thing incident. Vaping in the room is a strong signal, vaping at all is a concern at his age or any age. Older kids and others will challenge him in the future. Vape devices don't set off smoke detectors. Are you curious about this? Did you visit the room where this happened?

Vape devices most certainly DO set off the smoke detectors - at least mine did on the Vista. Learned my lesson. Only vape in the public smoking approved areas now (which is what I SHOULD have been doing in the first place). Fun Fact - if you vape in your interior cabin on the Vista, you will have a ringing phone and security at your door in under sixty seconds!

  3. How was the internet connection and speed on the Pride? We keep hearing the ships will be fitted with better internet service and speed over the next few months and was wondering if Pride had been updated yet?

Just got back from Pride yesterday, internet speed on mid-tier (value) plan was HORRIBLE. Like dialup if dialup was having a bad day.

  4. We had the new steakhouse menu on Vista last September. Everything is all melting balls...... definitely prefer the old menu, hoping they are still doing old menu on carnival Pride next month!!!

new menu didnt have chocolate sampler and I think they got rid of the crab cake appetizer as well....

  5. For me, the platinum perks that mean the most are free laundry and skipping the line at Guest services. If they take away early cabin access, I'll do what I did in my pre-platinum life - get lunch on Lido with my carryon sitting on the chair next to me.

    First World Problems.......

  6. We did the same itinerary as you did last September. Vista was the newest and biggest ship we had ever been on (16 total cruises all Carnival).

Loved the staff. Loved the outsdoor seating at red Frog and the self serve beer stations. Loved the food and service at Bonsai.

    Did NOT love:

    Steakhouse

    MDR

    Liquid Lounge

    Comedy Club

    Cabin size

The running theme for us was that it seemed like everything was SMALLER on the BIGGEST ship.

We had a great time, and I wouldn't say "never again" to the Vista, but it was far, FAR from being a ship we liked. Give me a Spirit Class any day of the week!!!

  7. The struggle is REAL. Millions suffer from PCD (Post-Cruise Depression) each and every year. But Carnival is here to help!! We may someday find a cure to PCD, but until we do, you can at least treat the symptoms by taking a "book another one" pill.......

Side effects may include sunburn, empty wallet, weight gain, and accumulation of plastic trophies.

  8. Greetings!! Long time cruisers here, myself (48 years old) and my DW (47 years old) have been avid cruisers the last 12 years or so. We currently have 16 cruises under our belt, all with Carnival, and are looking to try something new so we have booked a cruise next fall on the NCL Breakaway!!!!

I was wondering if anyone here has ever sailed both Carnival and NCL (especially Breakaway and/or Getaway) that might be willing to answer some questions for us?

What differences, if any, are there in dress code? We are normally dress shorts or jeans/polo shirt on NON-elegant night and dress up for elegant night - is NCL similar? Do you need to reserve shows and specialty dining before you even board? If so, how far in advance? Are the cabins similar in size and amenities to their Carnival counterparts? It looks like the NCL cabins may be slightly less square footage.

If anyone can help us out with some info/knowledge it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  9. We have been on 16 cruises with carnival, and our 5-day out of JAX in mid-March 2016 was, by far, THE WORST.

We drink and like to party and have a good time, but the batch of Spring Breakers we had were around 3/4 of the guest total. This was when a lot of cities/towns in that area passed local laws regarding Spring Break outlawing open containers on the beaches, so we ended up with a ship filled to the brim with Spring Breakers - NEVER AGAIN.

I can still hear the drunken 3-16!!!! chants in the dining room to go with the screaming and periodic falling down/passing out all up and down Lido deck.

I suspect we won't see as many this April on our 7-day to Bermuda.........

  10. Did a 4-day on the Destiny in January 2011 with DW and DS and saw Kelly Bruno on board. She was a contestant on Survivor 21.

Didnt want to bother her since it was her vacation too, but then she was in line in front of us at the port info desk at Cozumel and we met her and got a pic!

She was really very pleasant and friendly - not sure if a Reality Show contestant counts as an actual "celebrity" though..... LOL
