Thanks, I couldn't clearly figure out which of the two wasn't on that ship.
Is the "wasted" mostly because of the pasta-heaviness of the menu?

We're sailing this Saturday and have a "free" specialty meal. I'm trying to decide which of these three we should try out. Things to consider 1) we have 2 people who don't eat pasta/bread much at all 2) 2 other people in the group are not even remotely adventurous in their eating 3) yet a third pair are teenagers.
Any suggestions would be really helpful.

I'd assume that, just like hotels, there's an expiration date and time encoded in the card.

I just left an indoor archery range tonight. You really only need about 30 yards deep and that would be really easy on one of these megaships. It could be done, but won't be because there just isn't the interest. Takes way too long to get decent.

One minute reply time, how do you do that?

Somewhat related question. In balcony rooms with a pullman like that, can the "queen" bed still be split into 2 twins?
-
Somewhat off topic, but has anyone seen sausage patties (not links) on board?

I've honestly seen more people worried about negative reviews that I have actual negative reviews. And the positive one outweigh both.
My wife and I did our first RC cruise together in July on Vision and we enjoyed it thoroughly.

I wonder if larger ships will push cruise lines back to Norfolk? I'm pretty sure they can't outgrow it since carriers sail out of Norfolk all the time. I know the main reason Norfolk was mostly abandoned was price but maybe there's enough drive with megaships to bring it back?
The thread IS titled wishful thinking...

Having grown up one peninsula south of that I'm almost certain it'll never happen. There is NOTHING in that area. Norfolk might be expensive but I can't imagine a cruise port that's that in the middle of nowhere.
That said... I'd be plenty happy to use a new port there... just don't think it'll ever happen.

So I'm aware you can bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin. I'm also aware that's the only thing you can bring on per the rules. We have a local hard cider producer who packages the cider in wine bottles.
Anyone have a guess as to where that would fall? Not trying to start a fight here, just wondering if these are legit.
... sorry about the giant picture, hopefully that isn't flagged as advertising... it isn't mean that way.

It didn't even occur to me to email about this. I did ask our TA to note our request but this will make me feel better. 2 aging parents who can't hear particularly well would benefit from our group of 9 not being near the middle of the MDR.

Anyone know if the same applies for Independence?

Am I thinking straight here? I know a JS gives you double points but can be up to double the price of a balcony. If you'd prefer "more cruises" to "faster loyalty advancement" is there any particular reason to book a JS?
Apologies if this has been hashed to death, as I'm sure it has. I tried searching and didn't feel like I arrived at a definitive answer.

Eh, didn't really bother us. Probably helped us not overdo it on the pastries if I'm honest.
Room service chocoloate chip cookies also helped soothe the pain ;)

I am going to hope that the query from the staff was more like questioning whether you also wanted a coffee, rather than making it sound as if you 'were expected to be purchasing a coffee to get whatever snack you were asking for'.
In all my cruises, 15 to date, I have never felt that it was expected to purchase a drink at Café Lattitudes on any ship.
I believe the conversation went
Wife : Are the cookies free?
Guy behind counter : They're complimentary with coffee.
Me : *raising cup* This is coffee, does that count?
Guy : *chuckle* sure!

No charge for the food at Cafe Latte-Tudes. Years ago, some ships would say we needed to buy a drink to get the snacks, but that hasn't happened in a long while.
We got the "with a coffee" answer on Vision last week. I was holding a cup of coffee from the Windjammer, said "this is coffee" and that was sufficient.

I know this is from last year, but can anyone tell me if the Bicardi distillery will be open on Thanksgiving day? We're in the same situation with being in San Juan then this year.
-
I probably should have mentioned its 2 teens and their uncle... so it'll be 2 twins and the "bunk".
-
We've got 3 people booked in an interior room and would love it if anyone has pictures of what the third bed will look like. Its room 7667 if that helps. A picture of 7636 or similar would be awesome too (one of the balcony rooms on the hump).

So on cruises < 1 week anyone know what day they start on? Is it safe(ish) to assume that the first menu is the Saturday or Sunday Menu?
Issues with online check-in?

I'm 51 days out from my 7/7 cruise on Freedom and seem to be getting a website error when I go to start the check-in process. Anyone else had trouble with this lately?
