Can the train be booked on your own (not going through the cruise line)? Thanks!

it is free.
However, we stayed March 10 and won't stay again or recommend. Lobby & breakfast were nice, but location/area was not great, room was dirty and smelly as were the hallways. Toilet wouldn't stop running, and mold in the bathroom. Would stay in the blue lagoon area again if looking for a airport area hotel.
I agree that the area is not that great. We did not experience any issues with our room. The hallway carpet was a mess but no smell for us.

We went to the taxi stand and said we wanted to go to Darkwood Beach. They told us to stand over to the side and wait for other people. They tried to convince others to also go to Darkwood Beach. After we got a group, we were set to go. However, the driver took us to Valley Church beach instead. He insisted that this was a better beach. He also knew people there (which is suspect was the reason for the mix-up). It was $10 per person and he arranged to pick us up at the agreed upon time. His name was Cartwright. Two chairs and an umbrella were $20. There was a bar/food and a restroom. The beach was beautiful but had a large drop off. It was very hard getting out of the water. We had a nice time but wanted to go to Darkwood.

I made a mistake by not looking at the location of the day pass I purchased to spend time after our cruise. I purchased a day pass for the Hotel Riu Plaza Miami Beach 3101 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140-4108. The price was good ($60 for two people for towels and use of the pool/beach). However, the taxi ride to get there was $70 + tip. The ride from there to the airport was $55 + tip. I would have been better off booking the cruise line's excursion after the cruise. It was raining off and on so we couldn't really enjoy the pool/beach. We did sit out by the pool some and read. We had lunch at the poolside bar. Prices were high. Just wanted to post my experience for others.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites Miami International Airport 665 Mokena Dr, Miami Springs, FL 33166-6181.
Hotel was nice, beds comfy. The hallway carpet was nasty but other than that, everything was clean.
Breakfast area was large and had a good selection.
Shuttle from the airport worked well (we arrived around 5PM).
Shuttle to the port (10:30 AM) also worked well but the shuttle left 15 min before the scheduled departure. Get out there 30 min before departure to make sure you don't miss it.
I would recommend this hotel.

I have read that there is a luggage storage place in or near the Bayside Marketplace.
Can anyone tell me what the name is? rates?
I would like to check our bags for the afternoon as we have a late flight.
Thank you!

I would like to take the local bus to the beach from near cruise port and back (thinking Darkwood beach).
Is it possible to take the local bus there?
Would I need local currency or could I pay in US dollars?
Where would we pick up the bus from near the port?
How are bus stops identified for the way back?
Can I look up the routes somewhere?
Thanks!
