  2. We did this last month but we went Amtrak north not south. We did a walk off but you will have lots of time if it is the same time the bus comes in at 1:30. We were catching the Catalina Express so needed to be there way earlier. The other stop is the library you will need a cab for that one.

As you walk from ship to outside turn right and follow fence up and around ship. There is a sidewalk and benches as you go toward bus stop in front of Catalina office. We have walking problems but we took our time and used the benches along the way even waving at our friends still on the ship. Prolly pulling suitcases and a couple young ones won't be the most fun you have had but doable.

There is NO Amtrak bus sign, we asked 5 people and no one had a clue but it stops right in front of Catalina office. There is a place to eat outside, tables and umbrellas, room to let the young ones play and kick back till 1:30, might want to be in front a little early and check on your time it may have changed from when we went.

So you can walk it and it seems like there was a small playground near front gate. We walked all the way from the back to the front gate as we had no idea where the bus would stop. I flagged him down as he came in, he had a good laugh and said we could have stayed at the Catalina office.

So at 1:30 leaving time you have time to walk it easy and stop along the way, or really kick back and do a cab ride. :D

  3. Thanks for cab info. I have a sleeper on the train so don't know what side I will be on. As far as fares--pretty expensive. Could have flown first class in a few hours for what I am paying. Will enjoy beautiful scenery and be close to the ground. Flying used to be fun.

Hi Coonelian, we have done this same trip five times or so. Sometimes the Starlight can run late, and later :p we have had no troubles with getting a cab at all. Right out the front door. Since you have a roomette all your meals come with it at no extra charge and we try to do the latest dinner time before Seattle.

The Moore is a nice old place, no air but they will give you a small fan.:p Cab lets you off right in front and we have never had any problems. We have had rooms front, back and in between, front can be noisy but we seem to sleep fine. We may have been here to many times as the night clerk now knows us. ;)

They will call you a cab for your cruise, Coffee place is very small and very crowded and in same building, grab a foo foo coffee and goodies and if nice weather sit outside till time to leave. Most of all have a great fun time.

We enjoy this part of our trips as you can tell, don't forget to check out the parlor car it is on the way to the dinning car. Sit back and watch the world go by.

  4. As I'm reading this I look down and I see the very bright colors from my aloa shirt. Now we just got home from dinner out and never gave my shirt a thought. I have many aloa shirts, some from long ago that have shrunk from many a washing and are very tight. I'll have to talk to my wife why these shrink so bad :D

We live in Redding so when we say hot we mean hot, and these shirts feel great, shoot I even wear them when we are cruising Alaska. Count me as a aloa shirt guy.

  5. We will be doing our first Disney cruise going from San Diego to Vancouver on the Wonder :).

Passports for our family of 5 is going to be a big cost and since all of our young ones are under 16 was just wondering if their birth certificates would be all right. We won't be flying from Vancouver but will be using the shuttle to Seattle for a couple days then fly home from Seattle.

Sometimes you should not tell your children to soon as the "when, when, when" everyday gets to be long. But we are so ready too. :p

    Thanks for your help.
