  1. We are now cruising along at 36 km/hr. :) Not sure what they did during the stoppage - but the captain's announcement beforehand said they were stopping to perform a test and his announcement said the test had been completed successfully. :)

  2. While we are skipping the port of call, I wouldn't anticipate the cruise being cut short - we truly are not traveling fast enough to get there "early". We will be lucky if we make it on time! LOL. I haven't really seen unhappy people (except for the normal line up of people looking to complain and get something for free!) - just a busy Lido deck!

  3. Onboard as well....we are guessing the problem began last night about 8-9:00 pm. You could feel a bit of a "jump" to the ship but we were in calm waters. Definitely traveling very slow - barely breaking the water as we go along. If we continue traveling at the current speed (just under 25 km/hr), we will be lucky to make it back to New Orleans for our original arrival time on Sunday.

  4. We are traveling with my parents (in their 70s), leaving from NOLA on the Dream this Sunday. We are platinum so we received a check-in time of 10-10:30 am but my parents check-in time is 2-2:30 pm. Will they allow them to check in when we do, or will we all have to wait for their later check-in time?

Thanks for the info - this is our first time using the staggered check-in times!

  5. As far as I know Oasis was not getting Dynamic Dining yet, it is only available on the Anthem and Quantum. That is where you can eat in any of the 5 or so restaurants that are included in your cruise fare. It sounds like whoever you talked to combined features of Dynamic Dining and MTD. On the Oasis with MTD you eat in the main dining room, just at whatever time you want to. Traditional dining times are 6:00 and 8:30, but if you choose MTD you can make reservations before you board the ship, or when you board, or each morning, or not at all and just show up. They typically hold back some times on the website so if you are unable to book the time you want just change it when you get on the ship. It is really very simple, I think you talked to someone on the phone who was a bit confused himself. I also believe they changed the policy and you do not have to prepay your gratuities with MTD.

Yes, he must have been thoroughly confused! He even went so far as to give the names of the complimentary restaurants we would rotate through....so strange!

  6. Hi Everyone,

We are CCL Vet's but just booked our first RCCL cruise last night! We are sailing on the 3/5/16 sailing of the Oasis of the Seas. The gentleman we booked through (an RCCL vacation planner) was describing the Dynamic Dining to me on the phone ~ so I am suprised today to be reading that they have actual cancelled this on the Oasis??

He told me Classic 1 (I think this is 6:30 seating) and Classic 2 (I think this is 8:00 seating) were already full and that he had to put us in My Time Dining. I am SO CONFUSED by what this means. Even the RCCL website is not much help in understanding it! Would someone mine giving me a "My Time Dining for Dummies" briefing? LOL Because things seem to be changing, I am not certain I should be relying upon previously published threads and posts.

    Thank you! :)

  7. Glad you had a good cruise. We are cruising Thanksgiving week too, but although we live in Orlando, we're not doing the Dream, but instead the Liberty!!

I've stayed at the Contemporary Hotel, but not the new Bay Lake Tower. If you can, get a room facing the MK...you will have awesome views of the fireworks. You can also watch the fireworks from the viewing platform outside on the 15th floor of the hotel (I think this is still true...some nights when they are really busy, it's only for patrons of the Calif Grill Restaurant, but other times, anyone can take the elevator up and go outside to the viewing platforms). On Bay Lake, behind the hotel, they do the night time water electrical parade, which is really pretty to see. Check the hotel for times...it's usually some time between 9 pm and 10 pm.

To get to the MK from the Contemporary, the quickest way is to walk and there is a paved path all the way.

A nice afternoon is to take the boat from the Contemporary to the Ft. Wilderness campgrounds and walk around and visit the petting area and horse stables. You can also rent bikes and golf carts there to ride around.

My kids (17 year old twins) still love to eat at Chef Mickeys on the 4th floor, not so much for the characters, but they love the food...prime rib and Mickey mac and cheese. I've not eaten at the new Wave restaurant (1st floor) yet, but the reviews I've seen are pretty good!

We love the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian hotel. My DD loves the tonga toast (deep fried french toast stuffed with bananas) and I love the sausage there...it tastes like real British bangers! The Irish pub in downtown Disney is also good and has pretty authentic food! If you are into Toms shoes, they custom paint them at the Curl store in downtown Disney...it takes them a few days, so if that's something you are interested in, have it done early in the trip. My theater loving son had the Evita profile put on a pair. Depending on the design, it's about $20-$30 to have the Toms painted.

Have a great time and if you have any other questions, just ask!

Thank you for all of the great information, I took some notes on your suggestions. We are staying in a one-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Towers and the only option it gave was lake view. At least we will have front row seats for the electrical parade on the lake!

I am going to check in to the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, we have not eaten there before. Is it a quick service or table service restaurant?

We love Raglan's Pub in Downtown Disney! This will be our fourth Disney adventure and I always say Downtown Disney is one of my favorite places in Disney World.....again, I LOVE to shop. :p One of the things we have noticed is it appears that the restaurants included in the 2013 Dining Plan are about 30 or 40% less than last year. :( I have read that more are added as January 1st gets closer...I have just never noticed that before, nor have friends of our who do Disney once per year and are Disney Vacation Club Members. Have you ever experienced that?

Thanks again for your Disney insight!

  8. Oooo, I know.

Someone on the boards said that there is a seperate area for Plat/Diamd. and FTF people to drop off their luggage, did you notice this?

    Brooke,

When we pulled up in front of the terminal there were immediately luggage porters that can carside to remove and handle our baggages. Our tags were printed with the "VIP" label for being platinum. That's was the last we saw of our luggage until later that afternoon. Once inside the terminal we bypassed all of the lines and went directly to the VIP lounge. Which by the way, is the nicest we have seen. We arrived at the port just a few minutes before 11:00 and were on the lido deck eating lunch at 11:30. Our family was the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th person to board the ship! Very quick and painless embarkation process! :)

  9. Good Morning Everyone!

I have been away for a few weeks, but know I am back to doing my daily lurking and occasional posting. :)

We got home just over a week ago from our cruise on the Liberty.....we had a WONDERFUL trip. The ship is wonderful with all of the 2.0 upgrades. My hubby loved the Guy's Burger Joint and I enjoyed the burrito bar for lunch twice. We also had dinner with friends in the steakhouse one evening, which was delightful as always. I know a few of you are sailing out of Miami soon, so just an FYI ~ we stayed the night before sailing at the Hotel Urbano. LOVED it! It is a nice hotel with a beautful pool area. It was also nice that it was directly across the street from a trolley stop. The trolley runs free and I was amazed at how unused it is. All the trolley are in great condition and most of the time we got on and know one else was on board. While Bayside is a tourist trap ~ we did go there. LOL First for shopping ~ I am a shop-oholic and then back for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. We enjoyed it. :)

Today is back to school for our kiddos. I wish the summer didn't have to end! But, instead of being sad I will get myself pumped up for some nice fall activities.......football games, corn mazes, hockey and figure skating season. Plus, our next cruise (on the Dream) is just 73 days away at Thanksgiving. That will give me something to focus on! Today I am setting a new goal to reach 169 pounds by the time we leave for this trip! That gives me 73 days to drop about 14 pounds!! Wish me luck!

Pcrum ~ I noticed you said you stayed at the Contemporary at Disney. We are planning our Disney trip for Spring Break and are going to stay at the Bay Lake Tower Villas of the Contemporary. Any suggestions or info that you can offer??

  10. Brooke ~

I like both of these dresses you are looking at ordering and you look great in the print dress you posted!!! Shopping is definitely a big part of cruise enjoyment for me, although I do tend to go overboard! LOL

We leave in three days and I have been shopping the past 30 days I think! :D

  11. Congratulations on reaching that goal!!! :D

This morning was my weigh-in, and I did it! Dropped 1lb! 124.6 *Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight* Opppss, wrong place.:p

Hope everyone has a great weekend. It was storming here a while ago, but thankfully it's done now. Hoping to go for a walk after dinner and the store.

  12. Happy Monday, Everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and that Brooke is having a fun vacation!

We leave for our summer cruise in 18 days and I am still hoping to drop a few more pounds before then. Wish me luck! So far I have lost 76 pounds, so I am 24 pounds away from my original goal of a 100 pound loss. When I get there (not IF I get there, WHEN I get there!), I may decide to set a new goal of another ten pounds. Even the 100 pound loss will put me at a weight that I haven't been at since middle school, so we will see how it goes. My plan of action for this week:

~ WATER, WATER, WATER (I drink at least 80 oz. per day)

~ 1,200 calories per day (and making sure I do so, I have been laxed on this the last few weeks and have had some days that were more around 1,000....I know that it not good!)

~ Everyday workouts, plus doubles on Monday and Thursday

What is everyone else's plan for the week??

  13. Brooke ~ congratulations on your two pound loss and on that smaller swimsuit bottom. Both are victories!

In the event that there are other who don't know who Bob Harper is ~ I thought I would post a picture of him so we could have a forum consensus of his hotness. :D
