  1. I just did a search on him. He is coaching the Dominican men’s cycling team (that includes his son). I was so sad to see that Bumpiing had closed that I had to find out what happened to him. We went with him twice and they were the best tours we have been on in the Caribbean.

  2. You can make reservations for MTD on the app. However, you need to do it ASAP when they show up. We could not get any dinner reservations before 8:00. That is too late for the littles to eat. So we will have to wait one night for a table for 8. Not looking forward to standing in line with a 4 year old and 8 month old.

  3. We are going to be on Allure in March and treated ourselves to an OS. The door appears to have a wood veneer on it. Does anyone know if my magnet white board will stick or do I need to look at command strip white boards?

The only reason I asked is because a magnet on Amazon that I was looking at warned about them not sticking to the wood veneers.

  4. You will only find positive comments about both tours. I have taken Royston's tour twice. He will take you off the beaten path in his van. So if you are up for an adventure as well as a traditional tour, Royston could be your man. The first time we went there were only 5 of us in the van. It has no AC, but the windows pop out which allow you a nice unobstructed view of the beautiful island. We even met his dog which he rescued from certain death - he named him "lucky bastard" LOL

Either tour will get you what you are looking for. Have a great time.

PS - sometimes the tour gets held up and getting back to town for your Roti is a problem. My in-laws did not get fed as they were closed by the time they got to town. Let him know that this is important to you because it was DELICIOUS!!!!

  5. Royston has a bad habit of quoting you $45 for the tour then charging you less. How is a man supposed to make money like that?

We loved the Royston "off the beaten path" tour. When we sent my in-laws they were not as thrilled. They are not quite as adventurous. AND MIL is terrified of heights and did not like going up the utility road to get that great view of where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic. Soooo beautiful and they were mortified.

  6. Just got back from St. Kitts. We actually went to both beaches since we rented a vehicle and we're able to get around to most of the beaches. We liked Raggae a little more since we had great service but it did get a little crowded. Shipwreck was a unique beach with the black sand. There was literally no one there during our 2 hour visit. It is very rustic and there is not much beach with the water going all the way to the chairs

Shipwreck was heavily damaged by a hurricane a couple of years ago and a huge chunk of their beach washed away and did not recover. We went to the Beach Club and walked all the way down there via the beach (not an easy walk -BTW). It made me sad, because on our 2nd trip to St K we spent the whole day there with our toes in the sand.

  7. We have been to St. Kitts multiple times and find it to be very safe. I remember Royston (of Royston Tours) talking about that robbery. The island is extremely dependant on tourism and they work very hard at making it safe. The robbery several years ago brought a quick arrest and heavy punishment for the perpetrators.

Go, feel safe, and have a great time. The people are lovely.

  8. We loved Royston. We saw all of the island highlights as well as some "off road" adventures. We sent my in-laws on this tour a few years ago and they did not appreciate tiny tiny road that he takes you up for the amazing views of where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean though. MIL is a bit afraid of heights.

He also does volcano hikes if you are into that.

  9. I have read thru numerous threads to see how much the taxi to Magen's would be and I have read the costs to just about every other beach.

Who can tell me approx pp the cab fare will be?

We have been to St T 4 times and have gone to Coki, Sapphire, & Trunk Bay and we know Magen's will be more crowded, but we like going first thing in the morning and when it gets too crowded we can go shopping and/or go to Paradise Point for Bushwackers....so yummy.

  10. I am glad you decided to keep your tips the same. Yes, they are little and don't eat much, but my experience is that the smaller they are, the bigger the mess. When you become an empty-nester you will realize that your house has not been tidy and clean for about 20 years. As a former server, the food on the floor under the toddler usually exceeds what made it into their adorable mouths. ;)

  11. We booked last week during an incredible OBC offer, but with the BOGO we would still see a $950 credit after the changes in OBC.

What my husband is most interested in is the reduced Deposit (looking for some better cash flow in the present since the cruise is more than a year out). Will they refund 1/2 of our deposit? Or can we cancel and rebook? If we cancel, how soon do we see the deposit credited to our account? We cancelled on Oceania a few years ago and didn't see the credit for 30 days. If RCCI has the same type of policy then it wouldn't help the cash flow...

  12. How about a program that you log participation in activities in general... not just fitness. I think it was Costa that had a "passport" that you could get stamped at different activities/events. When you filled your passport you submitted it for a drawing for a prize. This got more people involved in onboard activities. I also won a hat for some pool deck game that normally I would not participate in. I still wear that hat when I go to the lake.

  13. I too am a beach bag girl. I even use it as a carry-on for the plane as 1 of my 2 personal bags. I hate purses so much that mine is soooo small that it is a waste to take it with me. It barely holds my wallet, iPod & Kindle. No room for sunglasses or anything else. I need more than that on the plane and at the pool and on the beach. Lipstick goes on only once so no need to cart it to dinner with me. Most things in my purse go into the safe when I leave the room. All you need on the ship is your seapass card.

  14. DH and I have decided that next time we dock in Nassau it will be an "at sea" day for us. We have been there twice and it just doesn't do much for us.

Tortolla is one of our favorites... BVI has some of the best snorkeling.

Jamaica - we have only done land vacations there and love it - something about all you can drink Red Stripe I think....

For the most part we have been avoiding Western Caribbean - we aren't interested in Cozumel (he has been there and wasn't impressed).

Overall, I agree with the poster that said... do your homework... there is something for everyone. What may look like lame at first may be a memorable day. DH was cranky when he saw the beach I chose in St. Thomas (we were the 1st ones there and it looked a little skeezy w/no one else there) within 30 minutes he had completely changed his mind. I had done my homework... he had no clue and was ready to go back to the ship immediately.
