  1. Hi all,

We booked a B2B cruise for late Oct/November onboard our last cruise in the fall.  We also have concerns as this is a TA so involves the flight over and a 21 days of sailing (sounded perfect!).  Both Italy and Spain are a lot of our trips and have concerns how ready these countries will be.  So we have 2 -$200 deposits.  I always booked future cruises on cruises but won't anymore.  Supposedly we cannot even change the ship booking to something else.  Doesn't sound like I want to talk to anyone about this- and sure it is a tough time for them.  Good luck to all of you also.

  2. Leaving for my Alaskan adventure tomorrow morning. Can't believe it's finally here! I will let you know how the rafting is at Denali park village when I come back :) take care

Thanks JP- have safe travels and a wonderful trip. Any restaurant suggestions also!! Can't wait- we have 3 weeks and 2 days (but who's counting!!). By the was I want the rafting trip with paddling by the us-not the guide who paddles.

  3. So we are on a Celebrity Land/Cruse tour 5B, trust it will be the same as RCI.

What river outfitter did you go with? Seems I can find about 5 of them in that neck of the woods and one does not have many reviews so I've got concerns.

Did you get overnighted in Denali Parke Village? How do you get around?

    Thanks much!

We were living for almost a year near Breckenridge, Co- so that is the area we did the rafting on the III-V's. Our Alaska adventure in not until July 28 can't wait. But we did love our rafting experience- think we did 3 times that summer- have to do it again. I will probably go with the one they recommend on our cruise tour. We will be 2 nights in Denali Park Village.

  4. Thanks for your input Fran :). How did you find the difficulty of classy 3 and 4 Rapids? Not hard at all?

It was but they did not last all that long- you listen to the guide and do what he says- and celebrate with a "paddle high five" when you complete the area. Really alot of fun. We are not super athletic and in the senior classification age wise- and did great!

  5. We are on the 5B tour starting in Anchorage on June 18, 2017. We would take the tour through RCI and I'm assuming we will get more information once we get there. (I hope it is an option).

    Hi Rhona,

Check on your online booking page where it says trip itinerary and it should detail your excursion- we are on a 6B in late July and it is an option in Denali.

    Fran

  6. We are also on the Radiance Land/Cruise Tour and interested in this excursion. We've never been rafting before. Do you think you have to be experienced to do this? We would take the one where we don't do the paddling. Thanks in advance.

Hi from Pembroke Pines, Fl!! We have white water rafted about 5 times and loved it. We were living almost a year in the Co mountains and went for it- about 8 years ago. On our first attempt we did the III to V's and did the paddling. They gave great instructions and was alot of fun. I recommend it highly. I would not miss this experience in Denali.

  7. You may be disappointed. We are also booked for the two hour trip in June and was told that Michelle does the one hour, Randy the two hour trips. But I am comfortable that he will be great.

I have a 2 hour booked with Michelle in August- after reading this thread I wrote to confirm Michelle was my pilot- she is- they said she does both and also a bear watching one.

    Good luck- can't wait.

  8. Thanks, Fran! I may take you up on your offer to answer questions after your cruise. We plan to do a day or two post-cruise in Vancouver, but I'll just plan those myself.

In the event I do not return to this board after the trip- my email is skistork at aol dot com. Not uncommon after all the plannning then the trip I would not be searching that board.

  9. I am planning on booking a RCCL Alaska cruise tour in August 2018. I am trying to find out some details about the land portion. The information on the RCCL web site is very brief and vague. Is there a place where I can find more information such as hours at each stop, what tours are included, etc.?

    Good morning,

We are going on a 19 day cruisetour on the Radiance in late July. We also were frustrated about the lack of information given. I called to see if we would get a detailed package before the trip- "No"- so here is the best information I have found. On your booking page ***** the RC site on the right side is an area that says cruise documents- and see or print your cruise itinerary. That is the most detailed- even lists some of the hotels we are staying at. Also on a recent cruise at Next Cruises area was a great brochure on Alaska and some great pictures and information.

I have called Cruisetours for detailed information several times- and they are very nice- but I have given them information - they really did not have the answers. We are doing 6 days Denali pre-cruise and Vancouver to Canadian Rockies ending in Calgary post cruise.

Also the message boards for this sailing has minimal activity- thought it would be an active one. I started in about a year ago when I booked- and we our still on page 1!!

The agenda looks great. I would be happy to give you information- especially in August after trip. In the meantime I will answer what I can as I am actively working on the details now. Looking forward to this journey and good luck to you.

  10. Just off the Carnival Magic and see where ( and I guess this fleet wide for them) that when you want your lights turned on you have to insert a card (doesn't matter what kind of card it is, as long as it's the size of a credit card) in a slot on the wall just inside your cabin door. My wife and I haven't sailed RCL since the Oasis in 2013 and I was wondering if RCL had also gone to the same system ?

    Harmony has it!!

  11. Now that would be nice!!]

Hi- from the Harmony trash game!! Have you also booked this crossing?

Would love to see Gibralter but think that might be too far! Could not miss this next one after we had such an amazing time on the Harmony.

  12. I booked about midnight right after the bookings opened. Have a balcony on deck 10. This wi

ll be our 4th TA- third on Oasis class. We love these cruises and had an amazing time on the Harmony this year. I am sorry they are not doing Palma de Majorca again- but we will go over a few weeks before the cruise and get in a great European land trip. If this board is as active as this past fall's Harmony- get ready for alot of reading and fun planning.

  13. LOL bit of deja vu here bigeck 😃. Are you interested in Symphony TA as well? Hope the deals are as good as Harmony 😎

Does anyone remember what the OV balcony rate was when the Harmony TA was first announced? That will help give me some idea when the Symphony TA rates come out as to whether they're as good or not... thanks!

I had a boardwalk balcony- think B1- on 11th floor 2nd from aft under $900pp. That was with our C&A discount also.

  14. Does Rccl provide things like guest speakers or workshops? Special activities? Anything extra on the many sea days?

Sounds like an amazing adventure!! I have done one TA and yes they did - ours had ballroom dancing lessons, genealogy, jewelry making- and beleive more detailed than thenormal one hour offered here and there on a traditional 7 day. They also do a "progressive trivia" if you like that where you form teams and have a game daily on sea days and the winner is announced the last day.

Your ship based entertainment will be the same between segments - but if it pushes you to get to a show on the first segment- you could pick it up on the next round!

    Enjoy your planning.

  15. Eek... I didn't even think it would be a problem. We sail in 8 wks out of Copenhagen going to Sweden,Estonia,Finland and Russia. My passport expires in July. We are US citizens. Will that be a problem? The only place we need visas is Russia and we are doing a ships your so we don't need to get it ourselves. Am I screwed. Lol.

Several years ago my husband, myself, our daughter and her son (about 12) were doing a Mediterranean cruise out of Civitevecchia- we went over a few days before them to have a few days to ourselves, we were doing a 12 day cruise after a few days in Rome, then after the cruise we flying from Rome to Athens for a few days in Athens then a few in Santorino.

They called us in Sorrento to say that they were not allowing our GS to board the flight as his passport did not have 6 months left. I always thought an expiration date is when something expires- but not so with a passport. They told her that Greece was very strict. At the last minute they decided to let them board and told them we would need to get to a US embassy to get an emergency passport. So we spent part of our day in Florence at the Embassy and there were a few issues there- but got it done. Had to run around Florence finding a place to get a passport photo for instance, then they wanted his birth certificate- who travels with it when you have a passport. I would say not worth what we had to go thru.
