Just sailed a Silhouette 4 night cruise and it definitely was a wider range of ages and a more lively crowd.  I was surprised how often we saw people out after 11. Seemed like all venues drew a crowd.

Sorry to hijack, we are planning to do this soon. Can you tell me what activities there were on the sea day? TIA

  2. We took our children on a Holland America cruise in Alaska. The boys were 3,8 and 12. There were only a few kids on board besides ours. The crew was wonderful with them. Although the older two would have preferred a flow rider on the ship, they understood that the trip was chosen because we had three generations traveling with us.

We made such wonderful memories that week with both sets of grandparents with us. Sometimes being together is what it is all about. Thankfully we got to experience that.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to plan clothing that I can layer and also in the same color family. Merino wool, cashmere, flannel, but nothing heavy except the coat. Which may not be that heavy by everyone’s standards. I did spray the coat with scotch guard which is supposed to make it more water repellent.

so tell me….what are some gifts I should look for at the markets?
What foods are not to be missed?
we visit Prague, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Salzburg, Linz, Melk, Vienna, and Budapest.
The Nuremberg markets will not be open when we are there. 😞

  4. We are going on the AmaLea leaving Nuremberg November 26th and ending in Budapest.  We are also doing the pre cruise in Prague. We have been trying to do this bucket list trip since 2019! This will be our second river cruise with AMA and we are beyond excited!  We are from the southern US and are not used to cold weather. We have purchased heavy coats and are ready to go!

  5. I know several people have mentioned bubble wrap, but I have another use.

I bought a roll of bubble wrap several cruises ago. I separated it in sections to fit inside my suitcase. I layer it between my clothes on the way to the cruise and it keeps my clothes from wrinkling. On the way home it protects my souvenirs.

  6. Mr. Trainman-2,

I think I'll be more disappointed to see you leave the ship than if I were on the ship myself.

My family and I have admired your strength and honesty this past week, as well as your ability to find humor in so many things. We have learned some valuable life lessons that I'm sure you didn't intend to teach.

We are planning to celebrate our oldest sons high school graduation on the FOS next June. We will certianly think of you and Carol. We will also be holding each other closer to our hearts.

We have spent a lot of time this week talking about showing compassion and understanding to our fellow man. I believe if we all treated each other with the same feelings we've had for you, the world would be so much better.

You will continue to be in our prayers.

    Carmen
