  1. I apologize if these have been answered already -- my searches didn't turn up what I was looking for . . .  We are on the Ovation of the Seas 12-Night Hawaii cruise and were looking to purchase the 5-Night Dining Package and have the following questions as we've never done a dining package before:

    - Can we go to the same Specialty Dining Restaurant more than once?

    - For the mandatory "1st or 2nd night reservation", can we pick the restaurant, or is it selected for us?

    - What specialty restaurants are NOT included in the dining package on the Ovation of the Seas?

    - Will we be able to make specialty dining reservations that are part of the dining package, prior to the cruise online, or can we only do that once onboard?

    Thank you!!

  2. I've seen many questions on these boards about the size of the room safe onboard, so, I made this short video when we were on the Oasis of the Seas last month demonstrating how they work and what fits in them. We did think the safe seemed a bit smaller on the Oasis than on other ships we've been on, but after putting our stuff in them, it seemed as if the were just about the same size. The video demonstrates the blue safe only (inside joke!)

  3. As I've gotten so many of my questions answered on these boards, I thought I'd try to return the favor a little bit. I had questions about how the connecting rooms were set up on the Oasis of the Seas before we went, and there didn't seem to be many pictures out there. So, when we were onboard last month, I made a short video that shows how they work. Hopefully this will help someone out who has the same questions I did.

  4. Of all the great memories we have had on our numerous RCI cruises, I would have to say that my best one would be meeting my wife on the RCI Sun Viking in Alaska way back in 1992. After a 3 year, long distance relationship (she in Dallas, me in Minneapolis), we were married, had 2 kids (now 16 and 13) and are now approaching our 20th anniversary next June ... And, we just finished our 12th RCI cruise (Oasis of the Seas last week).

  5. I agree that New Orleans is an easy port to navigate. We sailed from NOLA on the Navigator in Jan 2013, and again on the Serenade in Jan 2014. Both were very easy experiences. We were on the ship within 15 minutes of arriving at the port and off the ship and on our way to the airport in 10-15 minutes.

As for ice cream on the Serenade, we had the soft serve ice cream every day in the Windjammer (no charge and self service), but we don't recall there being any Ben & Jerrys anywhere??? Either they don't have it, or we missed it. It was available on the Navigator, but never saw it on the Serenade.

  6. I second everything Steveru621 said. We took the early morning Alaska Railroad from the Anchorage Depot to Seward, fully prepared to drag all our luggage with us from the train to the ship. Much to our surprise, we found the luggage tent to the right of the depot in Anchorage, and scrambled to get our RCI tags on our bags, and handed them all off. No problems. We decided to walk from the train to the ship in Seward, and it was a nice 10 - 15 minute walk (nice because we didn't have any luggage with us!). Our bags showed up in our stateroom just like normal. We, also, boarded the ship right away as we were tired from the very early wake-up time and getting to bed late the night before (lost track of time since it was still pretty light out at midnight).

  7. My Brother, who is a self proclaimed chef and loves all foods, couldn't decide what he wanted to order the first night in the MDR. Our waiter told him not to worry about it and brought him one of each main dish on a couple of separate plates and he ate every bit of it! The next night, and every night after that, the waiter didn't even give him a menu. He just brought portions of each dish for him. We thought it was hillarious! Being a big eater, nothing went to waste and he was in food heaven.

  8. We did the Wave Runner tour in Coco Cay last January. I purchased the Driver for me and Passenger for my DW. At each stop (we had about 5 stops total), they allowed us to switch drivers if we wanted. I assume it's the same on Labadee. So you should be able to switch with no issues.

  9. As others have said, the indoor movie theater on Navigator is pretty small, and more like a media room you might have in your home with a large projection screen. No 3D, and the spund quality is acceptable. The choice of movies is limited. They usually have about 4 movies that they rotate through during the cruise. They are not first-run movies, but are usually recent ones that just came out on DVD/BluRay. On our last cruise on the Serenade (which has a much bigger and "Normal" movie theater - but still nowhere near the quality as is on the Disney ships) one of the movies was a classic from the 40's (It figures that I can't remember which one!!). I've attempted to attach a pictue of the movie theater (called the Screening Room) from the Voyager class ships (hopefully it will work).

  10. I apologize if this has already been answered, but I haven't been able to find an exact answer. The "Classic Non-Alcoholic Package" says it includes fresh squeezed and bottled juices, but the "Premium Non-Alcoholic Package" does not say they are included. Is that really the case? If we wanted both fresh squeezed and bottled juices, and the frozen non-alcoholic drinks included in the package, are we out of luck, without paying for one or the other individually?

  11. We will be traveling on the Oasis, and have 2 connecting rooms, one for me and DW, and the other for our 2 kids. The 2 rooms are on 2 separate reservations that are linked. I'd like to convert some of my RCCL Visa points to OBC. My question is . . . Do I add all the OBC to one reservation, or do I have to split it between the two? If we book shore excursions or specialty dining, etc. for the 4 of us, I want to use the OBC for all of it, and not have to pay. I'm just not sure if because the reservations are linked, that they "transfer" all of the kids' purchases to our reservation automatically?

  12. Same experience on the Serenade of the Seas in January. We were able to get any non-alcoholic frozen drink, anything on the menu at Cafe Latitudes, and the fresh squeezed orange juice, all at no charge. In some places, mainly the bars, they had to run our sea pass cards, but it came up with a zero cost each time. No issues at all.
